MOV : യിസ്രായേലിൽ രാജാവില്ലാത്ത ആ കാലത്തു എഫ്രയീംമലനാട്ടിൽ ഉൾപ്രദേശത്തു വന്നു പാർത്തിരുന്ന ഒരു ലേവ്യൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൻ യെഹൂദയിലെ ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമിൽനിന്നു ഒരു വെപ്പാട്ടിയെ പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചു.
KJV : And it came to pass in those days, when [there was] no king in Israel, that there was a certain Levite sojourning on the side of mount Ephraim, who took to him a concubine out of Bethlehemjudah.
YLT : And it cometh to pass, in those days, when there is no king in Israel, that there is a man a Levite, a sojourner in the sides of the hill-country of Ephraim, and he taketh to him a wife, a concubine, out of Beth-Lehem-Judah;

ERVEN : At that time the Israelites did not have a king. There was a Levite who lived far back in the hill country of Ephraim. That man had a woman as a slave who was like a wife to him. She was from the city of Bethlehem in the country of Judah.

ERVEN : But his slave woman had an argument with him. She left him and went back to her father's house in Bethlehem in Judah. She stayed there for four months.

KJV : And her husband arose, and went after her, to speak friendly unto her, [and] to bring her again, having his servant with him, and a couple of asses: and she brought him into her father’s house: and when the father of the damsel saw him, he rejoiced to meet him.
YLT : And her husband riseth and goeth after her, to speak unto her heart, to bring her back, and his young man [is] with him, and a couple of asses; and she bringeth him into the house of her father, and the father of the young woman seeth him, and rejoiceth to meet him.

ESV : Then her husband arose and went after her, to speak kindly to her and bring her back. He had with him his servant and a couple of donkeys. And she brought him into her father's house. And when the girl's father saw him, he came with joy to meet him.
ERVEN : Then her husband went after her. He wanted to speak kindly to her so that she would come back to him. He took with him his servant and two donkeys. The Levite came to her father's house. Her father saw the Levite and came out to greet him. The father was very happy.

ERVEN : On the fourth day, they got up early in the morning. The Levite was getting ready to leave. But the young woman's father said to his son-in-law, "Eat something first. After you eat, you can go."

MOV : അങ്ങനെ അവർ ഇരുന്നു രണ്ടുപേരും കൂടെ തിന്നുകയും കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്തു; യുവതിയുടെ അപ്പൻ അവനോടു: ദയചെയ്തു രാപാർത്തു സുഖിച്ചുകൊൾക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

ERVEN : So the Levite and his father-in-law sat down to eat and drink together. After that, the young woman's father said to the Levite, "Please stay tonight. Relax and enjoy yourself." So the two men ate together.

ERVEN : Then the Levite, his slave woman, and his servant got up to leave. But the young woman's father said, "It is almost dark. The day is almost gone. So stay the night here and enjoy yourself. Tomorrow morning you can get up early and go on your way."

MOV : എന്നാൽ അന്നും രാപാർപ്പാൻ മനസ്സില്ലാതെ അവൻ എഴുന്നേറ്റു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; യെരൂശലേമെന്ന യെബൂസിന്നു സമീപം എത്തി; കോപ്പിട്ട രണ്ടു കഴുതയും അവന്റെ വെപ്പാട്ടിയും അവനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
KJV : But the man would not tarry that night, but he rose up and departed, and came over against Jebus, which is Jerusalem; and [there were] with him two asses saddled, his concubine also [was] with him.
YLT : And the man hath not been willing to lodge all night, and he riseth, and goeth, and cometh in till over-against Jebus (It [is] Jerusalem), and with him [are] a couple of asses saddled; and his concubine [is] with him.

ERVEN : But the Levite did not want to stay another night. He took his two donkeys and his slave woman. He traveled as far as the city of Jebus (that is, Jerusalem).

MOV : അവൻ യെബൂസിന്നു സമീപം എത്തിയപ്പോൾ നേരം നന്നാവൈകിയിരുന്നു; ബാല്യക്കാരൻ യജമാനനോടു: നാം ഈ യെബൂസ്യനഗരത്തിൽ കയറി രാപാർക്കരുതോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
KJV : [And] when they [were] by Jebus, the day was far spent; and the servant said unto his master, Come, I pray thee, and let us turn in into this city of the Jebusites, and lodge in it.
YLT : They [are] near Jebus, and the day hath gone greatly down, and the young man saith unto his lord, `Come, I pray thee, and we turn aside unto this city of the Jebusite, and lodge in it.`
RV : When they were by Jebus, the day was far spent; and the servant said unto his master, Come, I pray thee, and let us turn aside into this city of the Jebusites, and lodge in it.
RSV : When they were near Jebus, the day was far spent, and the servant said to his master, "Come now, let us turn aside to this city of the Jebusites, and spend the night in it."
ASV : When they were by Jebus, the day was far spent; and the servant said unto his master, Come, I pray thee, and let us turn aside into this city of the Jebusites, and lodge in it.
ESV : When they were near Jebus, the day was nearly over, and the servant said to his master, "Come now, let us turn aside to this city of the Jebusites and spend the night in it."
ERVEN : The day was almost over. They were near the city of Jebus. So the servant said to his master, the Levite, "Let's stop at this Jebusite city. Let's stay the night here."

MOV : യജമാനൻ അവനോടു: യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളില്ലാത്ത ഈ അന്യനഗരത്തിൽ നാം കയറരുതു; നമുക്കു ഗിബെയയിലേക്കു പോകാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
KJV : And his master said unto him, We will not turn aside hither into the city of a stranger, that [is] not of the children of Israel; we will pass over to Gibeah.
YLT : And his lord saith unto him, `Let us not turn aside unto the city of a stranger, that is not of the sons of Israel, thither, but we have passed over unto Gibeah.`
RV : And his master said unto him, We will not turn aside into the city of a stranger, that is not of the children of Israel; but we will pass over to Gibeah.
RSV : And his master said to him, "We will not turn aside into the city of foreigners, who do not belong to the people of Israel; but we will pass on to Gibeah."

ERVEN : But his master, the Levite man, said, "No, we will not go inside a strange city. Those people are not Israelites. We will go to the city of Gibeah. "

ERVEN : So the Levite and those with him traveled on. The sun was going down just as they entered the city of Gibeah. Gibeah is in the area that belongs to the tribe of Benjamin.

ERVEN : They planned to stop there and stay the night. They came to the city square and sat down, but no one invited them home to stay the night.

MOV : അനന്തരം ഇതാ, ഒരു വൃദ്ധൻ വൈകുന്നേരം വേലകഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു വയലിൽനിന്നു വരുന്നു; അവൻ എഫ്രയീംമലനാട്ടുകാരനും ഗിബെയയിൽ വന്നു പാർക്കുന്നവനും ആയിരുന്നു; ആ ദേശക്കാരോ ബെന്യാമീന്യർ ആയിരുന്നു.
KJV : And, behold, there came an old man from his work out of the field at even, which [was] also of mount Ephraim; and he sojourned in Gibeah: but the men of the place [were] Benjamites.

ERVEN : That evening an old man came into the city from the fields. His home was in the hill country of Ephraim, but now he was living in the city of Gibeah. (The men of Gibeah were from the tribe of Benjamin.)

MOV : വൃദ്ധൻ തലയുയർത്തി നോക്കിയപ്പോൾ നഗരവീഥിയിൽ വഴിയാത്രക്കാരനെ കണ്ടു: നീ എവിടെനിന്നു വരുന്നു? എവിടേക്കു പോകുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

ERVEN : The Levite answered, "We are traveling from the city Bethlehem in Judah to my home, which is far back in the hill country of Ephraim. I have been to Bethlehem in Judah, and now I am going to my house.
