KJV : In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,
YLT : In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, hath a word of Jehovah been unto Zechariah, son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, the prophet, saying:
RV : In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, the prophet, saying,
RSV : In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, the prophet, saying,
ASV : In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of Jehovah unto Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, the prophet, saying,
ESV : In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to the prophet Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, saying,
ERVEN : Zechariah son of Berekiah received a message from the Lord. This was in the eighth month of the second year that Darius was king in Persia. (Zechariah was the son of Berekiah, who was the son of Iddo the prophet.) This is that message:

MOV : യഹോവ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു അത്യന്തം കോപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
KJV : The LORD hath been sore displeased with your fathers.
YLT : `Jehovah was wroth against your fathers -- wrath!
RV : The LORD hath been sore displeased with your fathers.
RSV : "The LORD was very angry with your fathers.
ASV : Jehovah was sore displeased with your fathers.
ESV : "The LORD was very angry with your fathers.
ERVEN : The Lord became very angry with your ancestors.

MOV : ആകയാൽ നീ അവരോടു പറയേണ്ടതു: സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: എങ്കലേക്കു തിരിവിൻ എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു; എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കും തിരിയും എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.
KJV : Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.
YLT : And thou hast said unto them, Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, turn back unto Me, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, And I turn back unto you, said Jehovah of Hosts.
RV : Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Return unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.
RSV : Therefore say to them, Thus says the LORD of hosts: Return to me, says the LORD of hosts, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts.

ESV : Therefore say to them, Thus declares the LORD of hosts: Return to me, says the LORD of hosts, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts.
ERVEN : So you must tell the people what the Lord says, "Come back to me, and I will come back to you." This is what the Lord All-Powerful said.

MOV : നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ ആയിത്തീരരുതു; സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: നിങ്ങളുടെ ദുർമ്മാർഗ്ഗങ്ങളെയും ദുഷ്‌പ്രവൃത്തികളെയും വിട്ടുതിരിവിൻ എന്നിങ്ങനെ പണ്ടത്തെ പ്രവാചകന്മാർ അവരോടു പ്രസംഗിച്ചിട്ടും അവർ കേൾക്കയോ എനിക്കു ചെവി തരികയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.
KJV : Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and [from] your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the LORD.
YLT : Ye shall not be as your fathers, To whom the former prophets called, saying: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, Turn back I pray you, From your evil ways and from your evil doings, And they did not hearken, Nor attend to Me -- an affirmation of Jehovah.
RV : Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets cried, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Return ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the LORD.
RSV : Be not like your fathers, to whom the former prophets cried out, `Thus says the LORD of hosts, Return from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.' But they did not hear or heed me, says the LORD.
ASV : Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets cried, saying, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, Return ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith Jehovah.
ESV : Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets cried out, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, Return from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.' But they did not hear or pay attention to me, declares the LORD.
ERVEN : "Don't be like your ancestors. In the past the prophets spoke to them and said, 'The Lord All-Powerful wants you to change your evil way of living. Stop doing evil things!' But your ancestors did not listen to me." This is what the Lord said.

MOV : നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ എവിടെ? പ്രവാചകന്മാർ സദാകാലം ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുമോ?
KJV : Your fathers, where [are] they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?
YLT : Your fathers -- where [are] they? And the prophets -- to the age do they live?
RV : Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?

ERVEN : "Your ancestors are gone, and those prophets did not live forever.

MOV : എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ എന്റെ ദാസന്മാരായ പ്രവാചകന്മാരോടു കല്പിച്ച വചനങ്ങളും ചട്ടങ്ങളും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെ തുടർന്നുപിടിച്ചില്ലയോ? ഞങ്ങളുടെ വഴികൾക്കും പ്രവൃത്തികൾക്കും തക്കവണ്ണം സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഞങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്‍വാൻ നിരൂപിച്ചതുപോലെ തന്നേ അവൻ ഞങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവർ മനംതിരിഞ്ഞു പറഞ്ഞില്ലയോ?
KJV : But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? and they returned and said, Like as the LORD of hosts thought to do unto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us.
YLT : Only, My words, and My statutes, That I commanded My servants the prophets, Have they not overtaken your fathers, And they turn back and say: As Jehovah of Hosts designed to do to us, According to our ways, and according to our doings, So He hath done to us?`
RV : But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not overtake your fathers? and they turned and said, Like as the LORD of hosts thought to do unto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us.

ESV : But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not overtake your fathers? So they repented and said, As the LORD of hosts purposed to deal with us for our ways and deeds, so has he dealt with us."
ERVEN : The prophets were my servants. I used them to tell your ancestors about my laws and teachings. Your ancestors finally learned their lesson and said, 'The Lord All-Powerful did what he said he would do. He punished us for the way we lived and for all the evil things we did.' So they came back to God."

KJV : Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which [is] the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,
YLT : On the twenty and fourth day of the eleventh month, (it [is] the month of Sebat,) in the second year of Darius, hath a word of Jehovah been unto Zechariah, son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, the prophet, saying:

RSV : On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month which is the month of Shebat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, the prophet; and Zechariah said,

ERVEN : On the 24 day of the eleventh month (Shebat) of the second year that Darius was king of Persia, Zechariah received another message from the Lord. (This was Zechariah son of Berekiah, son of Iddo.) This is the message:

MOV : ഞാൻ രാത്രിയിൽ ചുവന്ന കുതിരപ്പുറത്തു കയറിയിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു പുരുഷനെ കണ്ടു; അവൻ ചോലയിലെ കൊഴുന്തുകളുടെ ഇടയിൽ നിന്നു; അവന്റെ പിമ്പിൽ ചുവപ്പും കുരാൽനിറവും വെണ്മയും ഉള്ള കുതിരകൾ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
KJV : I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that [were] in the bottom; and behind him [were there] red horses, speckled, and white.
YLT : I have seen by night, and lo, one riding on a red horse, and he is standing between the myrtles that [are] in the shade, and behind him [are] horses, red, bay, and white.
RV : I saw in the night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him there were horses, red, sorrel, and white.
RSV : "I saw in the night, and behold, a man riding upon a red horse! He was standing among the myrtle trees in the glen; and behind him were red, sorrel, and white horses.
ASV : I saw in the night, and, behold, a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle-trees that were in the bottom; and behind him there were horses, red, sorrel, and white.
ESV : "I saw in the night, and behold, a man riding on a red horse! He was standing among the myrtle trees in the glen, and behind him were red, sorrel, and white horses.
ERVEN : At night I saw a man riding a red horse. He was standing among some myrtle bushes in the valley. Behind him, there were red, brown, and white horses.

MOV : യജമാനനേ, ഇവർ ആരാകുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു എന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ദൂതൻ: ഇവർ ആരെന്നു ഞാൻ നിനക്കു കാണിച്ചുതരാം എന്നു എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
KJV : Then said I, O my lord, what [are] these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these [be. ]
YLT : And I say, `What [are] these, my lord?` And the messenger who is speaking with me saith unto me, `I -- I do shew thee what these [are].`
RV : Then said I, O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be.
RSV : Then I said, `What are these, my lord?' The angel who talked with me said to me, `I will show you what they are.'
ASV : Then said I, O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will show thee what these are.
ESV : Then I said, 'What are these, my lord?' The angel who talked with me said to me, 'I will show you what they are.'
ERVEN : I said, "Sir, what are these horses for?" Then the angel speaking to me said, "I will show you what these horses are for."

MOV : എന്നാൽ കൊഴുന്തുകളുടെ ഇടയിൽ നില്ക്കുന്ന പുരുഷൻ: ഇവർ ഭൂമിയിൽ ഊടാടി സഞ്ചരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവർ തന്നേ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
KJV : And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These [are they] whom the LORD hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth.
YLT : And the one who is standing between the myrtles doth answer and say, `These [are] they whom Jehovah hath sent to walk up and down in the land.`
RV : And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the LORD hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth.
RSV : So the man who was standing among the myrtle trees answered, `These are they whom the LORD has sent to patrol the earth.'
ASV : And the man that stood among the myrtle-trees answered and said, These are they whom Jehovah hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth.
ESV : So the man who was standing among the myrtle trees answered, 'These are they whom the LORD has sent to patrol the earth.'
ERVEN : Then the man standing among the myrtle bushes said, "The Lord sent these horses to go here and there on earth."

MOV : അവർ കൊഴുന്തുകളുടെ ഇടയിൽ നില്ക്കുന്ന യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതനോടു: ഞങ്ങൾ ഭൂമിയിൽ ഊടാടി സഞ്ചരിച്ചു, സർവ്വഭൂമിയും സ്വസ്ഥമായി വിശ്രമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
KJV : And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.
YLT : And they answer the messenger of Jehovah who is standing between the myrtles, and say, `We have walked up and down in the land, and lo, all the land is sitting still, and at rest.`
RV : And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.
RSV : And they answered the angel of the LORD who was standing among the myrtle trees, `We have patrolled the earth, and behold, all the earth remains at rest.'
ASV : And they answered the angel of Jehovah that stood among the myrtle-trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.

ERVEN : Then the horses spoke to the Lord's angel standing among the myrtle bushes and said, "We have walked here and there on the earth, and everything is calm and quiet."

MOV : എന്നാറെ യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതൻ: സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവേ, ഈ എഴുപതു സംവത്സരം നീ ക്രൂദ്ധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന യെരൂശലേമിനോടും യെഹൂദാപട്ടണങ്ങളോടും നീ എത്രത്തോളം കരുണ കാണിക്കാതിരിക്കും എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
KJV : Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?
YLT : And the messenger of Jehovah answereth and saith, `Jehovah of Hosts! till when dost Thou not pity Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, that Thou hast abhorred these seventy years?`
RV : Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?
RSV : Then the angel of the LORD said, `O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou have no mercy on Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these seventy years?'
ASV : Then the angel of Jehovah answered and said, O Jehovah of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?
ESV : Then the angel of the LORD said, 'O LORD of hosts, how long will you have no mercy on Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, against which you have been angry these seventy years?'
ERVEN : Then the Lord's angel said, "Lord All- Powerful, how long before you comfort Jerusalem and the cities of Judah? You have shown your anger at these cities for 70 years now."

MOV : അതിന്നു യഹോവ എന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ദൂതനോടു നല്ല വാക്കും ആശ്വാസകരമായ വാക്കും അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
KJV : And the LORD answered the angel that talked with me [with] good words [and] comfortable words.
YLT : And Jehovah answereth the messenger, who is speaking with me, good words, comfortable words.

ERVEN : Then the Lord answered the angel who was talking with me. He spoke good, comforting words.

MOV : എന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ദൂതൻ എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: നീ പ്രസംഗിച്ചു പറയേണ്ടതെന്തെന്നാൽ: സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഞാൻ യെരൂശലേമിന്നും സീയോന്നും വേണ്ടി മഹാ തീക്ഷ്ണതയോടെ എരിയുന്നു.
KJV : So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.
YLT : And the messenger who is speaking with me, saith unto me, `Call, saying: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: I have been zealous for Jerusalem, and for Zion [with] great zeal.
RV : So the angel that talked with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts: I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.
RSV : So the angel who talked with me said to me, `Cry out, Thus says the LORD of hosts: I am exceedingly jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion.
ASV : So the angel that talked with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.
ESV : So the angel who talked with me said to me, 'Cry out, Thus says the LORD of hosts: I am exceedingly jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion.
ERVEN : Then the angel told me to tell the people this: The Lord All-Powerful says: "I have a strong love for Jerusalem and Zion.

MOV : ഞാൻ അല്പം മാത്രം കോപിച്ചിരിക്കെ അവർ അനർത്ഥത്തിന്നായി സഹായിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു സ്വൈരമായിരിക്കുന്ന ജാതികളോടു ഞാൻ അത്യന്തം കോപിക്കുന്നു.
KJV : And I am very sore displeased with the heathen [that are] at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.
YLT : And [with] great wrath I am wroth against the nations who are at ease, For I was a little wroth, and they assisted -- for evil.
RV : And I am very sore displeased with the nations that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.
RSV : And I am very angry with the nations that are at ease; for while I was angry but a little they furthered the disaster.

ERVEN : And I am very angry at the nations that feel so safe. I was only a little angry, and I used them to punish my people. But they caused too much damage."

MOV : അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഞാൻ കരുണയോടെ യെരൂശലേമിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ ആലയം അതിൽ പണിയും; യെരൂശലേമിന്മേൽ അളവുനൂൽ പിടിക്കും എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.
KJV : Therefore thus saith the LORD; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.
YLT : Therefore, thus said Jehovah: I have turned to Jerusalem with mercies, My house is built in it, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, And a line is stretched over Jerusalem.
RV : Therefore thus saith the LORD: I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies; my house shall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth over Jerusalem.
RSV : Therefore, thus says the LORD, I have returned to Jerusalem with compassion; my house shall be built in it, says the LORD of hosts, and the measuring line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem.
ASV : Therefore thus saith Jehovah: I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies; my house shall be built in it, saith Jehovah of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth over Jerusalem.
ESV : Therefore, thus says the LORD, I have returned to Jerusalem with mercy; my house shall be built in it, declares the LORD of hosts, and the measuring line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem.
ERVEN : So the Lord says, "I will come back to Jerusalem and comfort her." The Lord All-Powerful says, "Jerusalem will be rebuilt, and my house will be built there."

MOV : നീ ഇനിയും പ്രസംഗിച്ചു പറയേണ്ടതു: സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: എന്റെ പട്ടണങ്ങൾ ഇനിയും അഭിവൃദ്ധിഹേതുവായി വിശാലത പ്രാപിക്കും; യഹോവ ഇനിയും സീയോനെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കയും ഇനിയും യെരൂശലേമിനെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കയും ചെയ്യും.
KJV : Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.
YLT : Again call, saying: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, Again do my cities overflow from good, And Jehovah hath again comforted Zion, And He hath fixed again on Jerusalem.`
RV : Cry yet again, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts: My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.

ERVEN : The angel also said, "The Lord All-Powerful says, 'My towns will be rich again. I will comfort Zion. I will again choose Jerusalem to be my special city.'"

KJV : Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These [are] the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up [their] horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.
YLT : And I say, `What [are] these coming in to do?` And He speaketh, saying: `These [are] the horns that have scattered Judah, so that no one hath lifted up his head, and these come in to trouble them, to cast down the horns of the nations who are lifting up a horn against the land of Judah -- to scatter it.`

ERVEN : I asked him, "What are these four workers coming to do?" He said, "The horns represent the nations that attacked the people of Judah and forced them to go to foreign countries. The horns 'threw' the people of Judah to the foreign countries. The horns didn't show mercy to anyone. But these four workers have come to frighten the horns and throw them away."
