KJV : The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.
YLT : Thus said the Lord Jehovah to Edom, A report we have heard from Jehovah, And an ambassador among nations was sent, `Rise, yea, let us rise against her for battle.`

ERVEN : This is the vision of Obadiah. This is what the Lord God says about Edom: We heard a report from the Lord. A messenger was sent to the nations. He said, "Let's go fight against Edom."

KJV : Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised.

ERVEN : "Edom, I will make you the smallest nation. Everyone will hate you very much.

MOV : പാറപ്പിളർപ്പുകളിൽ പാർക്കുന്നവനും ഉന്നതവാസമുള്ളവനും ആർ എന്നെ നിലത്തു തള്ളിയിടും എന്നു ഹൃദയത്തിൽ പറയുന്നവനുമായവനേ, നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ അഹങ്കാരം നിന്നെ ചതിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
KJV : The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation [is] high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
YLT : The pride of thy heart hath lifted thee up, O dweller in clifts of a rock, (A high place [is] his habitation, He is saying in his heart, `Who doth bring me down [to] earth?`)
RV : The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
RSV : The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rock, whose dwelling is high, who say in your heart, "Who will bring me down to the ground?"

ESV : The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rock, in your lofty dwelling, who say in your heart, "Who will bring me down to the ground?"
ERVEN : Your pride has fooled you. You live in those caves high on the cliff. Your home is high in the hills. So you say to yourself, 'No one can bring me to the ground.'"

MOV : നീ കഴുകനേപ്പോലെ ഉയർന്നാലും, നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽ കൂടുവെച്ചാലും, അവിടെനിന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ഇറക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.
KJV : Though thou exalt [thyself] as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.
YLT : If thou dost go up high as an eagle, And if between stars thou dost set thy nest, From thence I bring thee down, An affirmation of Jehovah.

ERVEN : This is what the Lord says: "Even though you fly high like the eagle and put your nest among the stars, I will bring you down from there.

MOV : കള്ളന്മാർ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നാലോ, രാത്രിയിൽ പിടിച്ചുപറിക്കാർ വന്നാലോ--നീ എങ്ങനെ നശിച്ചുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു--അവർ തങ്ങൾക്കു മതിയാകുവോളം മോഷ്ടിക്കയില്ലയോ? മുന്തിരിപ്പഴം പറിക്കുന്നവർ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നാൽ അവർ ഏതാനും കാലാപ്പഴം ശേഷിപ്പിക്കയില്ലയോ?
KJV : If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave [some] grapes?
YLT : If thieves have come in to thee, If spoilers of the night, How hast thou been cut off! Do they not steal their sufficiency? If gatherers have come in to thee, Do they not leave gleanings?
RV : If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not steal till they had enough? if grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes?
RSV : If thieves came to you, if plunderers by night -- how you have been destroyed! -- would they not steal only enough for themselves? If grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave gleanings?

ERVEN : You really will be ruined! Thieves will come to you. Robbers will come in the night, and they will take all they want. When workers gather grapes in your vineyards, they will leave a few grapes behind.

MOV : ഏശാവിന്നുള്ളവരെ കണ്ടുപിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതും അവന്റെ നിക്ഷേപങ്ങളെ തിരഞ്ഞു കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നതും എങ്ങനെ?
KJV : How are [the things] of Esau searched out! [how] are his hidden things sought up!
YLT : How hath Esau been searched out! Flowed out have his hidden things,

MOV : നിന്നോടു സഖ്യതയുള്ളവരൊക്കെയും നിന്നെ അതിരോളം അയച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; നിന്നോടു സന്ധിയുള്ളവർ നിന്നെ ചതിച്ചു തോല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ ആഹാരം ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നവർ നിനക്കു കണിവെക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു ബുദ്ധി ഒട്ടും ഇല്ല.
KJV : All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee [even] to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, [and] prevailed against thee; [they that eat] thy bread have laid a wound under thee: [there is] none understanding in him.
YLT : Unto the border sent thee have all thine allies, Forgotten thee, prevailed over thee, have thy friends, Thy bread they make a snare under thee, There is no understanding in him!
RV : All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee on thy way, even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; {cf15i they that eat} thy bread lay a snare under thee: there is none understanding in him.
RSV : All your allies have deceived you, they have driven you to the border; your confederates have prevailed against you; your trusted friends have set a trap under you -- there is no understanding of it.
ASV : All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee on thy way, even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread lay a snare under thee: there is no understanding in him.
ESV : All your allies have driven you to your border; those at peace with you have deceived you; they have prevailed against you; those who eat your bread have set a trap beneath you- you have no understanding.
ERVEN : All those who are your friends will force you out of the land. Those who were at peace with you will trick you, and they will defeat you. The soldiers who fought by your side are planning a trap for you. They say, 'He doesn't expect a thing!'"

MOV : അന്നാളിൽ ഞാൻ എദോമിൽനിന്നു ജ്ഞാനികളെയും ഏശാവിന്റെ പർവ്വതത്തിൽ നിന്നു വിവേകത്തെയും നശിപ്പിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.
KJV : Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the wise [men] out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?
YLT : Is it not in that day -- an affirmation of Jehovah, That I have destroyed the wise out of Edom, And understanding out of the mount of Esau?

ERVEN : The Lord says, "On that day, I will destroy the wise people from Edom. I will destroy the intelligent people from the mountain of Esau.

MOV : ഏശാവിന്റെ പർവ്വതത്തിൽ ഏവനും കുലയാൽ ഛേദിക്കപ്പെടുവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം തേമാനേ, നിന്റെ വീരന്മാർ ഭ്രമിച്ചുപോകും.
KJV : And thy mighty [men,] O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.
YLT : And broken down have been thy mighty ones, O Teman, So that every one of the mount of Esau is cut off.
RV : And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one may be cut off from the mount of Esau by slaughter.
RSV : And your mighty men shall be dismayed, O Teman, so that every man from Mount Esau will be cut off by slaughter.

ERVEN : Teman, your brave soldiers will be scared. Everyone will be destroyed from the mountain of Esau. Many people will be killed.

MOV : നിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യാക്കോബിനോടു നീ ചെയ്ത സാഹസംനിമിത്തം ലജ്ജ നിന്നെ മൂടും; നീ സദാകാലത്തേക്കും ഛേദിക്കപ്പെടും.
KJV : For [thy] violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.
YLT : For slaughter, for violence [to] thy brother Jacob, Cover thee doth shame, And thou hast been cut off -- to the age.
RV : For the violence done to thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.
RSV : For the violence done to your brother Jacob, shame shall cover you, and you shall be cut off for ever.

ERVEN : You will be covered with shame because you were very cruel to your brother Jacob. So you will be destroyed completely.

MOV : നീ എതിരെ നിന്ന നാളിൽ അന്യജാതിക്കാർ അവന്റെ സമ്പത്തു അപഹരിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോകയും അന്യദേശക്കാർ അവന്റെ ഗോപുരങ്ങളിൽ കടന്നു യെരൂശലേമിന്നു ചീട്ടിടുകയും ചെയ്ത നാളിൽ തന്നേ, നീയും അവരിൽ ഒരുത്തനെപ്പോലെ ആയിരുന്നു.
KJV : In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou [wast] as one of them.
YLT : In the day of thy standing over-against, In the day of strangers taking captive his force, And foreigners have entered his gates, And for Jerusalem have cast a lot, Even thou [art] as one of them!

ERVEN : You joined the enemies of Israel. Strangers carried Israel's treasures away. Foreigners entered Israel's city gate. They threw lots to decide what part of Jerusalem they would get. And you were right there with them, waiting to get your share.

KJV : But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.
YLT : And -- thou dost not look on the day of thy brother, On the day of his alienation, Nor dost thou rejoice over sons of Judah, In the day of their destruction, Nor make great thy mouth in a day of distress.
RV : But look not thou on the day of thy brother in the day of his disaster, and rejoice not over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither speak proudly in the day of distress.

ERVEN : You should not have laughed at your brother's trouble. You should not have been happy when they destroyed Judah. You should not have bragged at the time of their trouble.

ERVEN : You should not have entered the city gate of my people and laughed at their problems. You should not have taken their treasures in the time of their trouble.

KJV : Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.
YLT : Nor stand by the breach to cut off its escaped, Nor deliver up its remnant in a day of distress.
RV : And stand thou not in the crossway, to cut off those of his that escape; and deliver not up those of his that remain in the day of distress.
RSV : You should not have stood at the parting of the ways to cut off his fugitives; you should not have delivered up his survivors in the day of distress.

ERVEN : You should have not stood where the roads cross, and destroyed those who were trying to escape. You should not have captured those who escaped alive.

MOV : സകലജാതികൾക്കും യഹോവയുടെ നാൾ അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ നിന്നോടും ചെയ്യും; നിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി നിന്റെ തലമേൽ തന്നേ മടങ്ങിവരും.
KJV : For the day of the LORD [is] near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.
YLT : For near [is] the day of Jehovah, on all the nations, As thou hast done, it is done to thee, Thy deed doth turn back on thine own head.
RV : For the day of the LORD is near upon all the nations: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee; thy dealing shall return upon thine own head.
RSV : For the day of the LORD is near upon all the nations. As you have done, it shall be done to you, your deeds shall return on your own head.

ERVEN : The Day of the Lord is coming soon to all the nations. And the evil you did to others will happen to you. The same bad things will fall down on your own head.

MOV : നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ വിശുദ്ധപർവ്വതത്തിൽവെച്ചു കുടിച്ചതുപോലെ സകലജാതികളും ഇടവിടാതെ കുടിക്കും; അവർ മോന്തിക്കുടിക്കയും ജനിക്കാത്തവരെപ്പോലെ ആകയും ചെയ്യും.
KJV : For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, [so] shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.
YLT : For -- as ye have drunk on My holy mount, Drink do all the nations continually, And they have drunk and have swallowed, And they have been as they have not been.
RV : For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the nations drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and swallow down, and shall be as though they had not been.
RSV : For as you have drunk upon my holy mountain, all the nations round about shall drink; they shall drink, and stagger, and shall be as though they had not been.

ERVEN : You spilled blood on my holy mountain, so other nations will spill your blood. You will be finished. It will be as if you never existed.

MOV : എന്നാൽ സീയോൻ പർവ്വതത്തിൽ ഒരു രക്ഷിത ഗണം ഉണ്ടാകും; അതു വിശുദ്ധമായിരിക്കും; യാക്കോബ്ഗൃഹം തങ്ങളുടെ അവകാശങ്ങളെ കൈവശമാക്കും.
KJV : But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.
YLT : And in mount Zion there is an escape, And it hath been holy, And the house of Jacob have possessed their possessions.

ERVEN : But there will be survivors on Mount Zion. They will be my special people. The nation of Jacob will take back what belongs to it.

MOV : അന്നു യാക്കോബ് ഗൃഹം തീയും യോസേഫ്ഗൃഹം ജ്വാലയും ഏശാവുഗൃഹം താളടിയും ആയിരിക്കും; അവർ അവരെ കത്തിച്ചു ദഹിപ്പിച്ചുകളയും; ഏശാവുഗൃഹത്തിന്നു ശേഷിപ്പു ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല; യഹോവയല്ലോ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതു.
KJV : And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be [any] remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken [it. ]
YLT : And the house of Jacob hath been a fire, And the house of Joseph a flame, And the house of Esau for stubble, And they have burned among them, And they have consumed them, And there is not a remnant to the house of Esau, For Jehovah hath spoken.

ESV : The house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau stubble; they shall burn them and consume them, and there shall be no survivor for the house of Esau, for the LORD has spoken.
ERVEN : The family of Jacob will be like a fire. The nation of Joseph will be like a flame. But the nation of Esau will be like ashes. The people of Judah will burn Edom, and they will destroy it. Then there will be no survivors in the nation of Esau." This will happen because the Lord said it would.

ERVEN : Then people from the Negev will live on the mountain of Esau. And people from the foothills will take the Philistine lands. They will live in the land of Ephraim and Samaria. Gilead will belong to Benjamin.

RSV : The exiles in Halah who are of the people of Israel shall possess Phoenicia as far as Zarephath; and the exiles of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad shall possess the cities of the Negeb.
ASV : And the captives of this host of the children of Israel, that are among the Canaanites, shall possess even unto Zarephath; and the captives of Jerusalem, that are in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the South.
ESV : The exiles of this host of the people of Israel shall possess the land of the Canaanites as far as Zarephath, and the exiles of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad shall possess the cities of the Negeb.
ERVEN : People from Israel were forced to leave their homes, but they will take back the land of Canaan, all the way to Zarephath. People from Judah were forced to leave Jerusalem and live in Sepharad. But they will take back the cities of the Negev.
