MOV : അനന്തരം എഫ്രയീമ്യർ ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി വടക്കോട്ടു ചെന്നു യിഫ്താഹിനോടു: നീ അമ്മോന്യരോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്‍വാൻ പോയപ്പോൾ കൂടെ പോരേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ വിളിക്കാഞ്ഞതു എന്തു? ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്നെ അകത്തിട്ടു വീട്ടിന്നു തീ വെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
KJV : And the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thine house upon thee with fire.
YLT : And the men of Ephraim are called together, and pass over northward, and say to Jephthah, `Wherefore has thou passed over to fight against the Bene-Ammon, and on us hast not called to go with thee? thy house we burn over thee with fire.`

ERVEN : The men from the tribe of Ephraim called all their soldiers together. Then they went across the river to the city of Zaphon. They said to Jephthah, "Why didn't you call us to help you fight the Ammonites? We will burn your house down with you in it."

MOV : യിഫ്താഹ് അവരോടു: എനിക്കും എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നും അമ്മോന്യരോടു വലിയ കലഹം ഉണ്ടായി; ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ വളിച്ചപ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ അവരുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു എന്നെ രക്ഷിച്ചില്ല.
KJV : And Jephthah said unto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, ye delivered me not out of their hands.
YLT : And Jephthah saith unto them, `A man of great strife I have been (I and my people) with the Bene-Ammon, and I call you, and ye have not saved me out of their hand,

ERVEN : Jephthah answered them, "The Ammonites have been giving us many problems. So my people and I fought against them. I called you, but you didn't come to help us.

MOV : നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കയില്ലെന്നു കണ്ടപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ എന്റെ ജീവനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു അമ്മോന്യരുടെ നേരെ ചെന്നു; യഹോവ അവരെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചു. ഇങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങൾ എന്നോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്‍വാൻ ഇന്നു എന്റെ നേരെ വരുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
KJV : And when I saw that ye delivered [me] not, I put my life in my hands, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and the LORD delivered them into my hand: wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day, to fight against me?
YLT : and I see that thou art not a saviour, and I put my life in my hand, and pass over unto the Bene-Ammon, and Jehovah giveth them into my hand -- and why have ye come up unto me this day to fight against me?`
RV : And when I saw that ye saved me not, I put my life in my hand, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and the LORD delivered them into my hand: wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day, to fight against me?

ERVEN : I saw that you would not help us, so I risked my own life. I went across the river to fight against the Ammonites. The Lord helped me defeat them. Now why have you come to fight against me today?"

MOV : അനന്തരം യിഫ്താഹ് ഗിലെയാദ്യരെ ഒക്കെയും വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി, എഫ്രയീമ്യരോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു അവരെ തോല്പിച്ചു; ഗിലെയാദ്യരായ നിങ്ങൾ എഫ്രയീമിന്റെയും മനശ്ശെയുടെയും മദ്ധ്യേ എഫ്രയീമ്യപലായിതന്മാർ ആകുന്നു എന്നു എഫ്രയീമ്യർ പറകകൊണ്ടു ഗിലെയാദ്യർ അവരെ സംഹരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
KJV : Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites [are] fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, [and] among the Manassites.
YLT : And Jephthah gathered all the men of Gilead, and fighteth with Ephraim, and the men of Gilead smite Ephraim, because they said, `Fugitives of Ephraim [are] ye Gileadites, in the midst of Ephraim -- in the midst of Manasseh.`

ERVEN : Then Jephthah called the men of Gilead together. They fought against the men from the tribe of Ephraim because they had insulted the men of Gilead. They had said, "You men of Gilead are nothing but survivors of the men of Ephraim. Part of you belongs to Ephraim, and part of you belongs to Manasseh." The men of Gilead defeated the men of Ephraim.

MOV : ഗിലെയാദ്യർ എഫ്രയീംഭാഗത്തുള്ള യോർദ്ദാന്റെ കടവുകൾ പിടിച്ചു; എഫ്രയീമ്യപലായിതന്മാരിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ: ഞാൻ അക്കരെക്കു കടക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറയുമ്പോൾ ഗിലെയാദ്യർ അവനോടു: നീ എഫ്രയീമ്യനോ എന്നു ചോദിക്കും; അല്ല, എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞാൽ
KJV : And the Gileadites took the passages of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it was [so,] that when those Ephraimites which were escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gilead said unto him, [Art] thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay;
YLT : And Gilead captureth the passages of the Jordan to Ephraim, and it hath been, when [any of] the fugitives of Ephraim say, `Let me pass over,` and the men of Gilead say to him, `An Ephramite thou?` and he saith, `No;`
RV : And the Gileadites took the fords of Jordan against the Ephraimites: and it was so, that when {cf15i any of} the fugitives of Ephraim said, Let me go over, the men of Gilead said unto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay;

ERVEN : The men of Gilead captured the places where people cross the Jordan River. Those places led to the country of Ephraim. Any time a survivor from Ephraim came to the river and said, "Let me cross," the men of Gilead would ask him, "Are you from Ephraim?" If he said, "No,"

MOV : അവർ അവനോടു ശിബ്ബോലെത്ത് എന്നു പറക എന്നു പറയും; അതു അവന്നു ശരിയായി ഉച്ചരിപ്പാൻ കഴിയായ്കകൊണ്ടു അവൻ സിബ്ബോലെത്ത് എന്നു പറയും. അപ്പോൾ അവർ അവനെ പിടിച്ചു യോർദ്ദാന്റെ കടവുകളിൽവെച്ചു കൊല്ലും; അങ്ങനെ ആ കാലത്തു എഫ്രയീമ്യരിൽ നാല്പത്തീരായിരം പേർ വീണു.
KJV : Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce [it] right. Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand.
YLT : that they say to him, `Say, I pray thee, Shibboleth;` and he saith, `Sibboleth,` and is not prepared to speak right -- and they seize him, and slaughter him at the passages of the Jordan, and there fall at that time, of Ephraim, forty and two chiefs.
RV : then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth; and he said Sibboleth; for he could not frame to pronounce it right; then they laid hold on him, and slew him at the fords of Jordan: and there fell at that time of Ephraim forty and two thousand.

ERVEN : they would say, "Say the word 'Shibboleth.'" The men of Ephraim could not say that word correctly. They pronounced the word "Sibboleth." So if the man said, "Sibboleth," then the men of Gilead knew he was from Ephraim. So they would kill him at the crossing place. They killed 42,000 men from Ephraim.

ERVEN : Abdon had 40 sons and 30 grandsons. They rode on 70 donkeys. Abdon was a judge for the Israelites for eight years.
