MOV അവർ അവനോടു ശിബ്ബോലെത്ത് എന്നു പറക എന്നു പറയും; അതു അവന്നു ശരിയായി ഉച്ചരിപ്പാൻ കഴിയായ്കകൊണ്ടു അവൻ സിബ്ബോലെത്ത് എന്നു പറയും. അപ്പോൾ അവർ അവനെ പിടിച്ചു യോർദ്ദാന്റെ കടവുകളിൽവെച്ചു കൊല്ലും; അങ്ങനെ ആ കാലത്തു എഫ്രയീമ്യരിൽ നാല്പത്തീരായിരം പേർ വീണു.
KJV Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce [it] right. Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand.
YLT that they say to him, `Say, I pray thee, Shibboleth;` and he saith, `Sibboleth,` and is not prepared to speak right -- and they seize him, and slaughter him at the passages of the Jordan, and there fall at that time, of Ephraim, forty and two chiefs.

RSV they said to him, "Then say Shibboleth," and he said, "Sibboleth," for he could not pronounce it right; then they seized him and slew him at the fords of the Jordan. And there fell at that time forty-two thousand of the Ephraimites.

ESV they said to him, "Then say Shibboleth," and he said, "Sibboleth," for he could not pronounce it right. Then they seized him and slaughtered him at the fords of the Jordan. At that time 42,000 of the Ephraimites fell.
ERVEN they would say, "Say the word 'Shibboleth.'" The men of Ephraim could not say that word correctly. They pronounced the word "Sibboleth." So if the man said, "Sibboleth," then the men of Gilead knew he was from Ephraim. So they would kill him at the crossing place. They killed 42,000 men from Ephraim.
