KJV : Israel [is] an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly images.
YLT : `An empty vine [is] Israel, Fruit he maketh like to himself, According to the abundance of his fruit, He hath multiplied for the altars, According to the goodness of his land, They have made goodly standing-pillars.
RV : Israel is a luxuriant vine, which putteth forth his fruit: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath multiplied his altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly pillars.

ERVEN : Israel is like a vine that grows plenty of fruit. But as Israel got more and more things, he built more and more altars to honor false gods. His land became better and better, so he put up better and better stones to honor false gods.

MOV : അവരുടെ ഹൃദയം ഭിന്നിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇപ്പോൾ അവർ കുറ്റക്കാരായ്തീരും; അവൻ അവരുടെ ബലിപീഠങ്ങളെ ഇടിച്ചുകളകയും അവരുടെ വിഗ്രഹസ്തംഭങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.
KJV : Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images.
YLT : Their heart hath been divided, now they are guilty, He doth break down their altars, He doth destroy their standing-pillars.
RV : Their heart is divided; now shall they be found guilty: he shall smite their altars, he shall spoil their pillars.

MOV : ഇപ്പോൾ അവൻ: നമുക്കു രാജാവില്ല; നാം യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നില്ലല്ലോ; രാജാവു നമുക്കുവേണ്ടി എന്തു ചെയ്യും? എന്നുപറയും.
KJV : For now they shall say, We have no king, because we feared not the LORD; what then should a king do to us?
YLT : For now they say: We have no king, Because we have not feared Jehovah, And the king -- what doth he for us?
RV : Surely now shall they say, We have no king: for we fear not the LORD; and the king, what can he do for us?
RSV : For now they will say: "We have no king, for we fear not the LORD, and a king, what could he do for us?"
ASV : Surely now shall they say, We have no king; for we fear not Jehovah; and the king, what can he do for us?

ERVEN : Now the Israelites say, "We have no king. We don't honor the Lord. And his king cannot do anything to us."

MOV : അവർ വ്യർത്ഥവാക്കുകൾ സംസാരിച്ചു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്യുന്നതിൽ കള്ളസ്സത്യം ചെയ്യുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു ന്യായവിധി വയലിലെ ഉഴച്ചാലുകളിൽ നഞ്ചുചെടിപോലെ മുളെച്ചുവരുന്നു.
KJV : They have spoken words, swearing falsely in making a covenant: thus judgment springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field.
YLT : They have spoken words, To swear falsehood in making a covenant, And flourished as a poisonous herb hath judgment, on the furrows of a field.

ERVEN : They make promises, but they are only telling lies. They don't keep their promises. They make agreements {with other countries. God does not like those agreements}. The judges are like poisonous weeds growing in a plowed field.

MOV : ശമർയ്യാ നിവാസികൾ ബേത്ത്-ആവെനിലെ കാളക്കുട്ടിയെക്കുറിച്ചു പേടിക്കുന്നു; അതിലെ ജനം അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു ദുഃഖിക്കുന്നു; അതിന്റെ പൂജാരികൾ അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചും അതിന്റെ മഹത്വം അതിനെ വിട്ടുപോയതുകൊണ്ടു അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചും വിറെക്കുന്നു.
KJV : The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Beth-aven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof [that] rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.
YLT : For the calves of Beth-Aven fear do inhabitants of Samaria, Surely mourned on account of it hath its people, And its priests on account of it leap about, Because of its honour, for it hath removed from it,
RV : The inhabitants of Samaria shall be in terror for the calves of Beth-aven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced over it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.

ERVEN : The people from Samaria worship the calves at Beth-Aven. They will cry. The priests will cry, because their beautiful idol is gone. It was carried away.

MOV : അതിനെയും യുദ്ധതല്പരനായ രാജാവിന്നു സമ്മാനമായി അശ്ശൂരിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകും; എഫ്രയീം ലജ്ജ പ്രാപിക്കും; യിസ്രായേൽ തന്റെ ആലോചനയെക്കുറിച്ചു ലജ്ജിക്കും.
KJV : It shall be also carried unto Assyria [for] a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.
YLT : Also it to Asshur is carried, a present to a warlike king, Shame doth Ephraim receive, And ashamed is Israel of its own counsel.
RV : It also shall be carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.
RSV : Yea, the thing itself shall be carried to Assyria, as tribute to the great king. Ephraim shall be put to shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his idol.

ERVEN : It was carried away as a gift to the great king of Assyria. He will keep Ephraim's shameful idol. Israel will be ashamed of its idol.

KJV : The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.
YLT : And destroyed have been high places of Aven, the sin of Israel. Thorn and bramble go up on their altars, And they have said to hills, Cover us, And to heights, Fall upon us.

ERVEN : Israel sinned and built many high places. The high places of Aven will be destroyed. Thorns and weeds will grow on their altars. Then they will say to the mountains, "Cover us!" and to the hills, "Fall on us!"

MOV : യിസ്രായേലേ, ഗിബെയയുടെ കാലംമുതൽ നീ പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അവർ അവിടെത്തന്നേ നില്ക്കുന്നു; ഗിബെയയിൽ നീതികെട്ടവരോടുള്ള പട അവരെ എത്തിപ്പിടിച്ചില്ല;
KJV : O Israel, thou hast sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the children of iniquity did not overtake them.
YLT : From the days of Gibeah thou hast sinned, O Israel, There they have stood, Not overtake them in Gibeah doth battle, Because of sons of perverseness.

ERVEN : "Israel, you have sinned since the time of Gibeah. (And the people have continued to sin there.) Those evil people at Gibeah will be trapped by war.

MOV : ഞാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവരെ ശിക്ഷിക്കും; അവരെ അവരുടെ രണ്ടു അകൃത്യംനിമിത്തം ശിക്ഷിക്കുമ്പോൾ ജാതികൾ അവരുടെ നേരെ കൂടിവരും.
KJV : [It is] in my desire that I should chastise them; and the people shall be gathered against them, when they shall bind themselves in their two furrows.
YLT : When I desire, then I do bind them, And gathered against them have peoples, When they bind themselves to their two iniquities.
RV : When it is my desire, I will chastise them; and the peoples shall be gathered against them, when they are bound to their two transgressions.
RSV : I will come against the wayward people to chastise them; and nations shall be gathered against them when they are chastised for their double iniquity.

ERVEN : I will come to punish them. Armies will come together against them and punish the Israelites for both of their sins.

MOV : എഫ്രയീം മരുക്കമുള്ളതും ധാന്യം മെതിപ്പാൻ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നതുമായ പശുക്കിടാവു ആകുന്നു; ഞാൻ അതിന്റെ ഭംഗിയുള്ള കഴുത്തിൽ നുകം വെക്കും; ഞാൻ എഫ്രയീമിനെ നുകത്തിൽ പിണെക്കും; യെഹൂദാ ഉഴുകയും യാക്കോബ് കട്ട ഉടെക്കുകയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടിവരും.
KJV : And Ephraim [is as] an heifer [that is] taught, [and] loveth to tread out [the corn;] but I passed over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to ride; Judah shall plow, [and] Jacob shall break his clods.
YLT : And Ephraim [is] a trained heifer -- loving to thresh, And I -- I have passed over on the goodness of its neck, I cause [one] to ride Ephraim, Plough doth Judah, harrow for him doth Jacob.

ERVEN : "Ephraim is like a trained young cow that loves to walk on grain on the threshing floor. I will put a good yoke on her neck. I will put the ropes on Ephraim. Then Judah will begin plowing. Jacob will break the ground himself."

MOV : നീതിയിൽ വിതെപ്പിൻ; ദയെക്കൊത്തവണ്ണം കൊയ്യുവിൻ; നിങ്ങളുടെ തരിശുനിലം ഉഴുവിൻ; യഹോവ വന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ മേല നീതി വർഷിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ അന്വേഷിപ്പാനുള്ള കാലം ആകുന്നുവല്ലോ.
KJV : Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for [it is] time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
YLT : Sow for yourselves in righteousness, Reap according to loving-kindness, Till for yourselves tillage of knowledge, To seek Jehovah, Till he come and shew righteousness to you.
RV : Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap according to mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

ERVEN : If you plant goodness, you will harvest faithful love. Plow your ground, and you will harvest with the Lord. He will come, and he will make goodness fall on you like rain.

MOV : നിങ്ങൾ ദുഷ്ടത ഉഴുതു, നീതികേടു കൊയ്തു, ഭോഷ്കിന്റെ ഫലം തിന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ നിന്റെ വഴിയിലും നിന്റെ വീരന്മാരുടെ സംഘത്തിലും ആശ്രയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
KJV : Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
YLT : Ye have ploughed wickedness, Perversity ye have reaped, Ye have eaten the fruit of lying, For thou hast trusted in thy way, In the abundance of thy might.
RV : Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: for thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
RSV : You have plowed iniquity, you have reaped injustice, you have eaten the fruit of lies. Because you have trusted in your chariots and in the multitude of your warriors,
ASV : Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies; for thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
ESV : You have plowed iniquity; you have reaped injustice; you have eaten the fruit of lies. Because you have trusted in your own way and in the multitude of your warriors,
ERVEN : But you planted evil, and you harvested trouble. You ate the fruit of your lies, because you had trusted in your power and your soldiers.

MOV : അതുകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയിൽ ഒരു കലഹം ഉണ്ടാകും; യുദ്ധദിവസത്തിൽ ശൽമാൻ ബേത്ത്-അർബ്ബേലിനെ നശിപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ നിന്റെ എല്ലാ കോട്ടകൾക്കും നാശം വരും; അവർ അമ്മയെ മക്കളോടുകൂടെ തകർത്തുകളഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ.
KJV : Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Beth- arbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon [her] children.
YLT : And rise doth a tumult among thy people, And all thy fortresses are spoiled, As the spoiling of Shalman of Beth-Arbel, In a day of battle, Mother against sons dashed in pieces.
RV : Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Beth-arbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces with her children.
RSV : therefore the tumult of war shall arise among your people, and all your fortresses shall be destroyed, as Shalman destroyed Betharbel on the day of battle; mothers were dashed in pieces with their children.

ERVEN : So your armies will hear the noise of battle, and all your fortresses will be destroyed. It will be like the time Shalman destroyed Beth Arbel. At that time of war mothers were killed with their children.

MOV : അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ അവർ നിങ്ങളുടെ മഹാ ദുഷ്ടതനിമിത്തം ബേഥേലിൽവെച്ചു നിങ്ങൾക്കും ചെയ്യും; പുലർച്ചെക്കു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു അശേഷം നശിച്ചുപോകും.
KJV : So shall Bethel do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.
YLT : Thus hath Beth-El done to you, Because of the evil of your wickedness, In the dawn cut off utterly is a king of Israel!
RV : So shall Beth-el do unto you because of your great wickedness: at daybreak shall the king of Israel be utterly cut off.
RSV : Thus it shall be done to you, O house of Israel, because of your great wickedness. In the storm the king of Israel shall be utterly cut off.

ESV : Thus it shall be done to you, O Bethel, because of your great evil. At dawn the king of Israel shall be utterly cut off.
ERVEN : And this will happen to you at Bethel, because you did so many evil things. When that day begins, the king of Israel will be fully destroyed.
