ERVEN : The Lord said, "I love you people." But you said, "What shows you love us?" The Lord said, "Esau was Jacob's brother, but I chose Jacob.

KJV : Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD hath indignation for ever.
YLT : Because Edom saith, `We have been made poor, And we turn back and we build the wastes,` Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: They do build, and I do destroy, And [men] have called to them, `O region of wickedness,` `O people whom Jehovah defied to the age.`

ERVEN : The people of Edom might say, "We were destroyed, but we will go back and rebuild our cities." But the Lord All-Powerful says, "If they rebuild their cities, I will destroy them again." That is why people say Edom is an evil country—a nation the Lord hates forever.

MOV : നിങ്ങൾ സ്വന്ത കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു അതു കാണുകയും യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ അതിരിന്നു അപ്പുറത്തോളം വലിയവൻ എന്നു പറകയും ചെയ്യും.
KJV : And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The LORD will be magnified from the border of Israel.

RSV : Your own eyes shall see this, and you shall say, "Great is the LORD, beyond the border of Israel!"

ERVEN : The Lord All-Powerful said, "Children honor their fathers. Servants honor their masters. I am your Father, so why don't you honor me? I am your master, so why don't you respect me? You priests don't respect my name. "But you say, 'What have we done that shows we don't respect your name?'

YLT : Ye are bringing nigh on Mine altar polluted bread, And ye have said: `In what have we polluted Thee?` In your saying: `The table of Jehovah -- it [is] despicable,`
RV : Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar. And ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the LORD is contemptible.

MOV : നിങ്ങൾ കണ്ണു പൊട്ടിയതിനെ യാഗം കഴിപ്പാൻ കൊണ്ടുവന്നാൽ അതു ദോഷമല്ല; നിങ്ങൾ മുടന്തും ദീനവുമുള്ളതിനെ അർപ്പിച്ചാൽ അതും ദോഷമല്ല; അതിനെ നിന്റെ ദേശാധിപതിക്കു കാഴ്ച വെക്കുക; അവൻ പ്രസാദിക്കുമോ? നിന്നോടു കൃപ തോന്നുമോ? എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.
KJV : And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, [is it] not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, [is it] not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.
YLT : And when ye bring nigh the blind for sacrifice, `There is no evil,` And when ye bring nigh the lame and sick, `There is no evil;` Bring it near, I pray thee, to thy governor -- Doth he accept thee? or doth he lift up thy face? Said Jehovah of Hosts.
RV : And when ye offer the blind for sacrifice, it is no evil! and when ye offer the lame and sick, it is no evil! Present it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee? or will he accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.
RSV : When you offer blind animals in sacrifice, is that no evil? And when you offer those that are lame or sick, is that no evil? Present that to your governor; will he be pleased with you or show you favor? says the LORD of hosts.
ASV : And when ye offer the blind for sacrifice, it is no evil! and when ye offer the lame and sick, it is no evil! Present it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee? or will he accept thy person? saith Jehovah of hosts.

ERVEN : You bring blind animals as sacrifices, and that is wrong. You bring sick and crippled animals for sacrifices, and that is wrong. Try giving those sick animals as a gift to your governor. Would he accept those sick animals? No, he would not accept them." This is what the Lord All-Powerful said.

MOV : ആകയാൽ ദൈവം നമ്മോടു കൃപകാണിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം അവനെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിച്ചുകൊൾവിൻ. നിങ്ങൾ ഇതൊക്കെയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു കൃപ തോന്നുമോ എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.
KJV : And now, I pray you, beseech God that he will be gracious unto us: this hath been by your means: will he regard your persons? saith the LORD of hosts.
YLT : And now, appease, I pray thee, the face of God, And He doth favour us; From your own hand hath this been, Doth He accept of you appearances? Said Jehovah of Hosts.
RV : And now, I pray you, entreat the favour of God, that he may be gracious unto us: this hath been by your means: will he accept any of your persons? saith the LORD of hosts.
RSV : And now entreat the favor of God, that he may be gracious to us. With such a gift from your hand, will he show favor to any of you? says the LORD of hosts.

KJV : Who [is there] even among you that would shut the doors [for nought?] neither do ye kindle [fire] on mine altar for nought. I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.
YLT : Who [is] even among you, And he shutteth the two-leaved doors? Yea, ye do not kindle Mine altar for nought, I have no pleasure in you, said Jehovah of Hosts, And a present I do not accept of your hand.
RV : Oh that there were one among you that would shut the doors, that ye might not kindle {cf15i fire on} mine altar in vain! I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.
RSV : Oh, that there were one among you who would shut the doors, that you might not kindle fire upon my altar in vain! I have no pleasure in you, says the LORD of hosts, and I will not accept an offering from your hand.

ERVEN : "I wish one of you would close the Temple doors to stop the lighting of useless fires on my altar. I am not pleased with you. I will not accept your gifts." This is what the Lord All-Powerful said.

MOV : സൂര്യന്റെ ഉദയംമുതൽ അസ്തമനംവരെ എന്റെ നാമം ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയിൽ വലുതാകുന്നു; എല്ലാടത്തും എന്റെ നാമത്തിന്നു ധൂപവും നിർമ്മലമായ വഴിപാടും അർപ്പിച്ചുവരുന്നു; എന്റെ നാമം ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയിൽ വലുതാകുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.
KJV : For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name [shall be] great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense [shall be] offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name [shall be] great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.
YLT : For, from the rising of the sun to its going in, Great [is] My name among nations, And in every place perfume is brought nigh to My name, and a pure present, For great [is] My name among nations, Said Jehovah of Hosts.

ERVEN : "People all around the world respect my name. All around the world they bring good gifts to me and burn good incense as a gift to me, because my name is important to all of them." This is what the Lord All- Powerful said.

KJV : But ye have profaned it, in that ye say, The table of the LORD [is] polluted; and the fruit thereof, [even] his meat, [is] contemptible.
YLT : And ye are polluting it in your saying, `The table of Jehovah -- it is polluted, As to its fruit -- despicable is its food.`
RV : But ye profane it, in that ye say, The table of the LORD is polluted, and the fruit thereof, even his meat, is contemptible.

ERVEN : "But you people show that you don't respect my name. You say that the Lord's altar is unclean. And you don't like the food from that altar.

MOV : എന്തൊരു പ്രയാസം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങൾ അതിനോടു ചീറുന്നു; എന്നാൽ കടിച്ചുകീറിപ്പോയതിനെയും മുടന്തും ദീനവുമുള്ളതിനെയും നിങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അങ്ങനെ കാഴ്ചവെക്കുന്നു എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു; അതിനെ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു അംഗീകരിക്കുമോ എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.
KJV : Ye said also, Behold, what a weariness [is it!] and ye have snuffed at it, saith the LORD of hosts; and ye brought [that which was] torn, and the lame, and the sick; thus ye brought an offering: should I accept this of your hand? saith the LORD.
YLT : And ye have said, `Lo, what a weariness,` And ye have puffed at it, said Jehovah of Hosts, And ye have brought in plunder, And the lame and the sick, And ye have brought in the present! Do I accept it from your hand? said Jehovah.
RV : Ye say also, Behold, what a weariness is it! and ye have snuffed at it, saith the LORD of hosts; and ye have brought that which was taken by violence, and the lame, and the sick; thus ye bring the offering: should I accept this of your hand? saith the LORD.
RSV : `What a weariness this is,' you say, and you sniff at me, says the LORD of hosts. You bring what has been taken by violence or is lame or sick, and this you bring as your offering! Shall I accept that from your hand? says the LORD.
ASV : Ye say also, Behold, what a weariness is it! and ye have snuffed at it, saith Jehovah of hosts; and ye have brought that which was taken by violence, and the lame, and the sick; thus ye bring the offering: should I accept this at your hand? saith Jehovah.
ESV : But you say, 'What a weariness this is,' and you snort at it, says the LORD of hosts. You bring what has been taken by violence or is lame or sick, and this you bring as your offering! Shall I accept that from your hand? says the LORD.
ERVEN : You smell the food and refuse to eat it. You say it is bad. Then you bring sick, crippled, and hurt animals to me. You try to give sick animals to me as sacrifices, but I will not accept them.

MOV : എന്നാൽ തന്റെ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ ഒരു ആൺ ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കെ, കർത്താവിന്നു നേർന്നിട്ടു ഊനമുള്ളോരു തള്ളയെ യാഗംകഴിക്കുന്ന വഞ്ചകൻ ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ. ഞാൻ മഹാരാജാവല്ലോ; എന്റെ നാമം ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഭയങ്കരമായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.
KJV : But cursed [be] the deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto the LORD a corrupt thing: for I [am] a great King, saith the LORD of hosts, and my name [is] dreadful among the heathen.
YLT : And cursed [is] a deceiver, who hath in his drove a male, And is vowing, and is sacrificing a marred thing to the Lord, For a great king [am] I, said Jehovah of Hosts, And My name [is] revered among nations!
RV : But cursed be the deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto the Lord a blemished thing: for I am a great king, saith the LORD of hosts, and my name is terrible among the Gentiles.

ERVEN : Some people have good, male animals that they could give as sacrifices. {But they don't give those good animals to me.} Some people bring good animals and promise to give those healthy animals to me. But then they secretly exchange those good animals and give me sick animals instead. Bad things will happen to those people. I am the Great King and people all around the world respect me!" This is what the Lord All-Powerful said.
