എലീശാ തന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ മൂപ്പന്മേരോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ രാജാവു ഒരാളെ തനിക്കു മുമ്പായി അയച്ചു; ദൂതൻ എലീശയുടെ അടുക്കൽ എത്തുന്നതിന്നു മുമ്പെ അവൻ മൂപ്പന്മാരോടു: എന്റെ തല എടുത്തുകളവാൻ ആ കുലപാതകപുത്രൻ ആളയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു നിങ്ങൾ കണ്ടുവോ? നോക്കുവിൻ ദൂതൻ വരുമ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ വാതിൽ അടെച്ചു വാതിൽക്കൽ അവനെ തടുത്തുകൊൾവിൻ; അവന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ കാലൊച്ച അവന്റെ പിമ്പിൽ കേൾക്കുന്നുണ്ടല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and [the king] sent a man from before him: but ere the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: [is] not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?

The king sent a messenger to Elisha. Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. Before the messenger arrived, Elisha said to the elders, "Look, that son of a murderer is sending men to cut off my head. When the messenger arrives, shut the door. Hold the door and don't let him in. I hear the sound of his master's feet coming behind him."
