ആ കാലത്തു യെഹൂദയിൽ ചിലർ ശബ്ബത്തിൽ മുന്തിരിച്ചകൂ ചവിട്ടുന്നതും കറ്റ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നതും കഴുതപ്പുറത്തു ചുമടുകയറ്റുന്നതും ശബ്ബത്തിൽ വീഞ്ഞു, മുന്തിരിപ്പഴം, അത്തിപ്പഴം മുതലായ ചുമടെല്ലാം യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടു വരുന്നതും കണ്ടു; അവർ ഭക്ഷണസാധനം വില്ക്കുന്ന ദിവസത്തിൽ ഞാൻ അവരെ പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.

In those days saw I in Judah [some] treading winepresses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all [manner of] burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified [against them] in the day wherein they sold victuals.

I saw people carrying grapes, figs, and all kinds of things in the city. They were bringing all these things into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, so I warned them about this. I told them they must not sell food on the Sabbath day.
