BNV : এরপর যাজক স্তিফানকে বললেন, ‘এসব কথা কি সত্যি?’
KJV : Then said the high priest, Are these things so?
YLT : And the chief priest said, `Are then these things so?`

BNV : এর উত্তরে স্তিফান বললেন, ‘ভাইয়েরা ও এই জাতির পিতাগণ, আমার কথা শুনুন৷ আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষ অব্রাহাম হারণে বসবাস করার আগে য়ে সময় মিসপতামিযাতে ছিলেন, সেই সময় মহিমার ঈশ্বর তাঁর সামনে আবির্ভূত হয়েছিলেন৷
KJV : And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,
YLT : and he said, `Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken: The God of the glory did appear to our father Abraham, being in Mesopotamia, before his dwelling in Haran,

ERVEN : Stephen answered, "My Jewish fathers and brothers, listen to me. Our great and glorious God appeared to Abraham, our ancestor, when he was in Mesopotamia. This was before he lived in Haran.

BNV : আর তাঁকে বলেছিলেন, ‘তুমি তোমার স্বদেশ ও স্বজনের মধ্য থেকে চলে এস, আর আমি য়ে দেশ দেখাব সেই দেশে যাও৷’
KJV : And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.
YLT : and He said to him, Go forth out of thy land, and out of thy kindred, and come to a land that I shall shew thee.

BNV : অব্রাহাম তখন কলদীয়ের দেশ ছেড়ে হারণে এসে বসবাস করেন৷ তাঁর বাবার মৃত্যুর পর ঈশ্বর তাঁকে সেখান থেকে এই দেশে আনলেন, য়ে দেশে এখন আপনারা বাস করছেন৷
KJV : Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.
YLT : `Then having come forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, he dwelt in Haran, and from thence, after the death of his father, He did remove him to this land wherein ye now dwell,

BNV : এখানে ঈশ্বর তাঁকে কোন ভূসম্পত্তি দিলেন না, এমন কি এক ছটাক জমিও না; কিন্তু প্রতিশ্রুতি দিলেন য়ে শেষ পর্যন্ত এই দেশটা তাঁকে ও তাঁর বংশধরদের দেবেন৷ যদিও অব্রাহামের তখনও কোন সন্তান ছিল না৷
KJV : And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not [so much as] to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when [as yet] he had no child.
YLT : and He gave him no inheritance in it, not even a footstep, and did promise to give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him -- he having no child.

ERVEN : But God did not give Abraham any of this land, not even a foot of it. But God promised that in the future he would give Abraham this land for himself and for his children. (This was before Abraham had any children.)

BNV : ঈশ্বর তাঁকে এই কথা বললেন, ‘তোমার বংশধরেরা বিদেশে প্রবাসী জীবন কাটাবে, তারা দাসত্ব-শৃঙ্খলে বদ্ধ হবে, আর সে দেশের লোকেরা তাদের প্রতি চারশো বছর ধরে অত্যাচার করবে৷
KJV : And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat [them] evil four hundred years.
YLT : `And God spake thus, That his seed shall be sojourning in a strange land, and they shall cause it to serve, and shall do it evil four hundred years,

BNV : তারা য়ে জাতির দাসত্ব করবে, আমি তাদের দণ্ড দেব৷’ঈশ্বর আরো বললেন, ‘এরপর তারা সেই দেশ থেকে বেরিয়ে এসে এখানে আমার উপাসনা করবে৷’
KJV : And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.
YLT : and the nation whom they shall serve I will judge, said God; and after these things they shall come forth and shall do Me service in this place.

BNV : এরপর অব্রাহামের সঙ্গে ঈশ্বর এক চুক্তি করলেন৷ এই চুক্তির চিহ্ন হল সুন্নত সংস্কার৷ এরপর অব্রাহামের একটি পুত্র সন্তান হল৷ আট দিনের দিন তিনি তার সুন্নত করালেন; সেই পুত্রের নাম ইসহাক৷ ইসহাকের পুত্র যাকোবেরও তারা সুন্নত করলেন৷ যাকোবের পুত্ররা বারোজন গোষ্ঠীর পিতা হলেন৷
KJV : And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so [Abraham] begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac [begat] Jacob; and Jacob [begat] the twelve patriarchs.
YLT : `And He gave to him a covenant of circumcision, and so he begat Isaac, and did circumcise him on the eighth day, and Isaac [begat] Jacob, and Jacob -- the twelve patriarchs;

ERVEN : "God made an agreement with Abraham; the sign for this agreement was circumcision. And so when Abraham had a son, he circumcised him when he was eight days old. His son's name was Isaac. Isaac also circumcised his son Jacob. And Jacob did the same for his sons who became the twelve great ancestors of our people.

BNV : ‘তাদের সেই পিতাগণ য়োষেফের প্রতি ঈর্ষান্বিত হলেন৷ য়োষেফকে দাস ব্যবসাযীদের কাছে বিক্রি করা হলে তাকে মিশরে নিয়ে আসা হল, কিন্তু ঈশ্বর তাঁর সহবর্তী ছিলেন৷
KJV : And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,

BNV : য়োষেফ সেখানে অনেক কষ্ট পেয়েছিলেন; কিন্তু ঈশ্বর তাকে তাঁর সমস্ত কষ্টের হাত থেকে উদ্ধার করলেন৷ ফরৌণ তখন মিশরের রাজা, য়োষেফের মধ্যে ঈশ্বরদত্ত বিজ্ঞতা দেখতে পেয়ে ফরৌণ তাঁকে পছন্দ করলেন৷ ফরৌণ য়োষেফকে মিশরের অধ্যক্ষরূপে নিযুক্ত করলেন, এমনকি ফরৌণের গৃহের সমস্ত পরিজনের উপরে তাকে কর্তা করলেন৷
KJV : And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.
YLT : and did deliver him out of all his tribulations, and gave him favour and wisdom before Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he did set him -- governor over Egypt and all his house.

ERVEN : and saved him from all his troubles. Pharaoh was the king of Egypt then. He liked Joseph and respected him because of the wisdom God gave him. Pharaoh gave Joseph the job of being a governor of Egypt. He even let him rule over all the people in Pharaoh's house.

BNV : এরপর সারা মিশরে ও কনান দেশে প্রচণ্ড খরা হল৷ এমন খরা যাতে কোন ফসল উত্‌পন্ন হল না, এতে লোকেরা মহাকষ্টে পড়ল৷ আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের খাদ্যবস্তুর অভাব হল৷
KJV : Now there came a dearth over all the land of Egypt and Chanaan, and great affliction: and our fathers found no sustenance.
YLT : `And there came a dearth upon all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and great tribulation, and our fathers were not finding sustenance,

BNV : কিন্তু যাকোব শুনতে পেলেন য়ে মিশরে শস্য মজুত আছে, তখন তিনি আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের মিশরে পাঠালেন৷
KJV : But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first.

BNV : তাঁদের সেই ছিল প্রথমবার মিশরে যাওযা৷ তাঁরা যখন দ্বিতীয়বার সেখানে গেলেন, তখন য়োষেফ নিজে থেকে তাঁর ভাইদের কাছে আত্মপরিচয় দিলেন৷ য়োষেফের পরে পরিজনদের সংবাদ ফরৌণ শুনতে পেলেন৷
KJV : And at the second [time] Joseph was made known to his brethren; and Joseph’s kindred was made known unto Pharaoh.
YLT : and at the second time was Joseph made known to his brethren, and Joseph`s kindred became manifest to Pharaoh,

BNV : পরে কিছু লোক পাঠিয়ে য়োষেফ তাঁর পিতা যাকোব ও তাঁর সব আত্মীয় পরিজনদের ডেকে পাঠালেন, তাঁরা মোট পঁচাত্তর জন ছিলেন৷
KJV : Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to [him,] and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.
YLT : and Joseph having sent, did call for his father Jacob, and all his kindred -- with seventy and five souls --

BNV : এইভাবে যাকোব মিশরে গেলেন, পরে তাঁর ও আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের সেখানে মৃত্যু হল৷

BNV : তাঁদের মৃতদেহ শিখিমে নিয়ে যাওযা হয়েছিল, আর সেখানে তাঁদেরকে কবরে রাখা হয়৷ এই কবরস্থান অব্রাহাম শিখিম শহরে হমোরের ছেলেদের কাছ থেকে কিছু টাকা দিয়ে কিনেছিলেন৷
KJV : And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor [the father] of Sychem.
YLT : and they were carried over into Sychem, and were laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for a price in money from the sons of Emmor, of Sychem.
RV : and they were carried over unto Shechem, and laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for a price in silver of the sons of Hamor in Shechem.

ERVEN : Later, their bodies were moved to Shechem, where they were put in a tomb. (It was the same tomb that Abraham had bought in Shechem from the sons of Hamor. He paid them with silver.)

BNV : ‘মিশরে ইহুদীরা বৃদ্ধি পেয়ে বহুসংখ্যক হয়ে উঠল৷ ঈশ্বর অব্রাহামের কাছে য়ে প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছিলেন তা পূর্ণ হওযার সময় হল৷
KJV : But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,
YLT : `And according as the time of the promise was drawing nigh, which God did swear to Abraham, the people increased and multiplied in Egypt,

BNV : মিশরে তখন অন্য একজন রাজা হয়েছেন৷ তিনি য়োষেফের সম্পর্কে জানতেন না৷
KJV : Till another king arose, which knew not Joseph.
YLT : till another king rose, who had not known Joseph;
RV : till there arose another king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.

BNV : এই রাজা আমাদের লোকদের সঙ্গে চাতুরী করলেন৷ তিনি আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের প্রতি দুর্য়্ববহার করতে লাগলেন৷ তাদের নবজাত শিশুদের জোর করে বাইরে ফেলে দিতে হুকুম দিলেন, য়েন তারা মারা যায়৷
KJV : The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live.
YLT : this one, having dealt subtilely with our kindred, did evil to our fathers, causing to expose their babes, that they might not live;

BNV : সেই সময় মোশির জন্ম হয়, তিনি ঈশ্বরের দৃষ্টিতে সুন্দর ছিলেন, তিন মাস পর্যন্ত তিনি তাঁর পিতার গৃহেই লালিত-পালিত হন৷
KJV : In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and nourished up in his father’s house three months:
YLT : in which time Moses was born, and he was fair to God, and he was brought up three months in the house of his father;

BNV : পরে তাঁকে বাইরে রেখে দেওযা হলে ফরৌণের কন্যা তাঁকে কুড়িয়ে এনে তাঁর নিজের ছেলের মত মানুষ করেন৷
KJV : And when he was cast out, Pharaoh’s daughter took him up, and nourished him for her own son.
YLT : and he having been exposed, the daughter of Pharaoh took him up, and did rear him to herself for a son;

BNV : মোশি মিশরীয়দের সমস্ত জ্ঞানে শিক্ষিত হয়ে উঠলেন, আর কথায় ও কাজে মহাক্ষমতাশালী হয়ে উঠলেন৷
KJV : And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.
YLT : and Moses was taught in all wisdom of the Egyptians, and he was powerful in words and in works.

BNV : ‘মোশির বয়স যখন চল্লিশ বছর তখন তাঁর ইস্রায়েলী ভাইদের সঙ্গে দেখা করার ইচ্ছা হল৷
