KJV What shall we say then? [Is] the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

YLT What, then, shall we say? the law [is] sin? let it not be! but the sin I did not know except through law, for also the covetousness I had not known if the law had not said:

WEB What shall we say then? Is the law sin? May it never be! However, I wouldn\'t have known sin, except through the law. For I wouldn\'t have known coveting, unless the law had said, "You shall not covet."
ESV What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, "You shall not covet."
RV What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Howbeit, I had not known sin, except through the law: for I had not known coveting, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet:
RSV What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet, if it had not been for the law, I should not have known sin. I should not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, "You shall not covet."
NLT Well then, am I suggesting that the law of God is sinful? Of course not! In fact, it was the law that showed me my sin. I would never have known that coveting is wrong if the law had not said, "You must not covet."
NET What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Absolutely not! Certainly, I would not have known sin except through the law. For indeed I would not have known what it means to desire something belonging to someone else if the law had not said, "Do not covet."
ERVEN You might think I am saying that sin and the law are the same. That is not true. But the law was the only way I could learn what sin means. I would never have known it is wrong to want something that is not mine. But the law said, "You must not want what belongs to someone else."
TOV ஆகையால் என்ன சொல்லுவோம்? நியாயப்பிரமாணம் பாவமோ? அல்லவே, பாவம் இன்னதென்று நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தினால் நான் அறிந்தேனேயன்றி மற்றப்படி அறியவில்லை; இச்சியாதிருப்பாயாக என்று நியாயப்பிரமாணம் சொல்லாதிருந்தால், இச்சை பாவம் என்று நான் அறியாமலிருப்பேனே.
ERVTA சட்டவிதியையும் பாவத்தையும் நான் ஒரே விதமாக நினைப்பதாக நீங்கள் எண்ணக் கூடும். அது உண்மையல்ல. ஆனால் சட்ட விதியின் மூலமாகவே நான் பாவமென்றால் என்னவென்று புரிந்து கொண்டேன். பிறர் பொருள் மேல் ஆசைப்படாமல் இருங்கள் என்று சட்டவிதி சொல்லாமல் இருந்தால் அது பாவம் என்று எனக்கு தெரியாமல் போயிருக்கும்.

MOV ആകയാൽ നാം എന്തു പറയേണ്ടു? ന്യായപ്രമാണം പാപം എന്നോ? ഒരുനാളും അരുതു. എങ്കിലും ന്യായപ്രമാണത്താൽ അല്ലാതെ ഞാൻ പാപത്തെ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല; മോഹിക്കരുതു എന്നു ന്യായപ്രമാണം പറയാതിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ മോഹത്തെ അറികയില്ലായിരുന്നു.
HOV तो हम क्या कहें? क्या व्यवस्था पाप है? कदापि नहीं! वरन बिना व्यवस्था के मैं पाप को नहीं पहिचानता: व्यवस्था यदि न कहती, कि लालच मत कर तो मैं लालच को न जानता।
TEV కాబట్టి యేమందుము? ధర్మశాస్త్రము పాపమాయెనా? అట్లనరాదు. ధర్మశాస్త్రమువలననే గాని పాపమనగాఎట్టిదో నాకు తెలియకపోవును. ఆశింపవద్దని ధర్మ శాస్త్రము చెప్పనియెడల దురాశయన ఎట్టిదో నాకు తెలియకపోవును.
ERVTE అంటే, ధర్మశాస్త్రం పాపంతో కూడూకున్నదని అర్థమా? కాదు. ధర్మశాస్త్రం లేకపోయినట్లయితే పాపమంటే నాకు తెలిసేది కాదు. "ఇతర్లకు చెందిన వాటిని ఆశించవద్దని" ధర్మశాస్త్రం చెప్పి ఉండకపోతే, ఆశించటమంటే ఏమో నాకు తెలిసేది కాదు.
KNV ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ನಾವು ಏನು ಹೇಳೋಣ? ನ್ಯಾಯ ಪ್ರಮಾಣವು ಪಾಪವೋ? ಹಾಗೆ ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಅಲ್ಲ; ನ್ಯಾಯಪ್ರಮಾಣದಿಂದಲೇ ಹೊರತು ಪಾಪವೆಂಬದು ಏನೋ ನನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ--ನೀನು ಆಶಿಸಬಾರದು ಎಂದು ನ್ಯಾಯಪ್ರಮಾಣವು ಹೇಳ ದಿದ್ದರೆ ದುರಾಶೆಯೆಂದರೆ ಏನೋ ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯು ತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
ERVKN ಪಾಪ ಮತ್ತು ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ಇವೆರಡೂ ಒಂದೇ ಎಂದು ನಾನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿರುವುದಾಗಿ ನೀವು ಭಾವಿಸಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ ಅದು ನಿಜವಲ್ಲ. ಪಾಪವೆಂದರೆ ಏನೆಂಬುದನ್ನು ಕಲಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರವೊಂದೇ ನನಗೆ ಏಕೈಕ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿದೆ. ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರವಿಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೆ, ದುರಾಶೆ ಎಂದರೆ ಏನೆಂಬುದೇ ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. “ಬೇರೆಯವರ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ನೀವು ಆಶಿಸಕೂಡದು” ಎಂದು ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರವು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದರಿಂದಲೇ ಅದು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯಿತು.
GUV ત્યારે આપણે શું કહીએ, શું નિયમ પાપરૂપ છે? ના, કદી નહિ. પરંતુ નિયમ વગર મેં પાપ જાણ્યું ના હોત, કારણ કે જો નિયમશાસ્ત્રે કહ્યું ન હોત કે લોભ ન રાખ, તો મેં લોભ જાણ્યો ના હોત. “તમારે બીજાઓની માલિકીની વસ્તુઓની ઈચ્છા કરવી જોઈએ નહિ.”

URV پَس ہم کیا کہیں ؟ کیا شَرِیعَت گُناہ ہے ؟ ہرگِز نہِیں بلکہ بغَیر شَرِیعَت کے مَیں گُناہ کو نہ پہچانتا مثلاً اگر شَرِیعَت یہ نہ کہتی کہ تُو لالچ نہ کر تو مَیں لالچ کو نہ جانتا۔
BNV তোমরা হয়তো ভাবছ য়ে আমি বলছি বিধি-ব্যবস্থা এবং পাপ একই বস্তু; না নিশ্চয়ই নয়৷ একমাত্র বিধি-ব্যবস্থার দ্বারাই পাপ কি তা আমি বুঝতে পারলাম৷ আমি কখনই বুঝতে পারতাম না য়ে লোভ করা অন্যায়; যদি বিধি-ব্যবস্থায় লেখা না থাকত, ‘অপরের জিনিসে লোভ করা পাপ৷’
ORV ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଭାବି ପାର ଯେ, ମୁଁ କହୁଛି ପାପ ଓ ବ୍ଯବସ୍ଥା ହେଉଛି ଏକା କଥା। ଏହା ସତ୍ଯ ନୁହେଁ। କିନ୍ତୁ ବ୍ଯବସ୍ଥା ହେଉଛି ଏକମାତ୍ର ଉପାୟ ଯାହା ଦ୍ବାରା ମୁଁ ପାପର ଅର୍ଥ ଜାଣି ପାରିଲି। ମୁଁ କବେେ ହେଲେ ଜାଣି ପାରି ନଥାନ୍ତି, "ଲୋଭ କରିବା" ଅର୍ଥ କଣ। କିନ୍ତୁ ବ୍ଯବସ୍ଥା କହିଲା, "ଅନ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କ ବସ୍ତୁ ପାଇବା ପାଇଁ କବେେ ହେଲେ ଲୋଭ କର ନାହିଁ।"
MRV तर मग आता आपण काय म्हणतो? नियमशास्त्र पाप आहे असे आम्ही म्हणावे काय? खात्रीने नाही! कारण नियमशास्त्रावाचून पाप काय आहे हे मला समजले नसते. खरोखर “लोभ धरु नको” असे नियमशास्त्राने सांगितले नसते तर लोभ म्हणजे काय हे मला माहीत झाले नसते.
