எனவே, சிதேக்கியாவின் 9வது ஆட்சியாண்டின் பத்தாவது மாதத்தின் பத்தாவது நாளில் பாபிலோன் அரசனான நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் எருசலேமிற்கு எதிராகப் படையெடுத்தான். நேபுகாத்நேச்சாரோடு அவனது முழுப்படையும் இருந்தது. பாபிலோனின் படையானது எருசலேமிற்கு வெளியே முகாமிட்டது. நகரச் சுவரைச் சுற்றிலும் அவர்கள் மதிற்சுவர்களைக் கட்டினார்கள். எனவே அவர்களால் சுவரைத் தாண்ட முடிந்தது.

కావున సిద్కియా పాలనలో తొమ్మిది సంవత్సరాల పది నెలలు దాటి పదవ రోజు గడుస్తూ వుండగా బబులోను రాజైన నెబుకద్నెజరు తన యెరూషలేము మీదికి దండెత్తాడు. నెబుకద్నెజరు తన సైన్యాన్నంతా వెంటబెట్టుకు వచ్చాడు. బబులోను సైన్యం యెరూషలేము బయట దిగింది. తరువాత వారు నగరపు గోడల మీదికి ఎగబాకటానికి అనువుగా చుట్టూ దిమ్మలు కట్టారు.

ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಚಿದ್ಕೀಯನು ತನಐ ಆಳಿಬಕೆಯ ಒಂಭತ್ತನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದ ಹತ್ತನೆಯ ತಿಂಗಳಿನ ಹತ್ತನೆಯ ದಿನ ಙಾಬಿಲೋನಿನ ರಾಜನಾದ ನೆಘೂಕದೆಐಚ್ಚರನು ಜೆರುಸಲೇಮಿನ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ದಂಡಯಾತ್ರೆ ಕೈಗೊಂಡನು. ನೆಘೂಕದೆಐಚ್ಚರನ ಸಂಗಡ ಅವನ ಇಡೀ ಸೈನ್ಯವಿತ್ತು. ಙಾಬಿಲೋನ್ ಸೈನ್ಯವು ಜೆರುಸಲೇಮಿನ ಹೊರಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೀಡುಬಿಟ್ಟಿತು. ಆ ನಗರವನುಐ ಹತ್ತಲು ಅನುಕೂಲವಾಗುವಂತೆ ಅವರು ನಗರದ ಪೌಳಿಗೋಡೆಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿಜಾರಾದ ಗೋಡೆಗಳನುಐ ಕಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರು.
