எருசலேம் அழிக்கப்பட்டபோது, யூதாவின் படையிலுள்ள சில வீரர்களும் அதிகாரிகளும் அவர்களுடைய ஆட்களும் அத்திறந்த நாட்டிலேயே, விடுபட்டனர். அந்த வீரர்கள், அகீக்காமின் மகனான கெதலியாவைப் பாபிலோன் அரசன் தேசத்தில் விடுப்பட்டுள்ளவர்களின் ஆளுநராக நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதை அறிந்தனர். விடுப்பட்டுள்ள ஜனங்களில் ஆண்கள், பெண்கள், சிறுவர்கள் என ஏழைகளாக இருந்தனர். இவர்கள் கைதிகளாகப் பாபிலோனுக்குக் கொண்டுப்போகப்படாமல் இருந்தனர்.

యెరూషలేము నాశనం చేయబడినప్పుడు యూదా రాజ్య సైన్యంలోని కొంతమంది, సైనికులు అధికారులు, తదితర మనుష్యులు బయట ప్రాంతంలో వుండిపోయారు. రాజ్యంలో మిగిలిన ప్రజలను పాలించటానికి అహీకాము కుమారుడైన గెదల్యాను బబులోను రాజు నియమించినట్లు ఆ సైనికులు విన్నారు. యూదా రాజ్యంలో మిగిలిన ప్రజలలో మిక్కిలి పేదవారు, బబులోనుకు బందీలుగా తీసికొనిపోవటానికి అనువుగాని స్త్రీ పురుషులు, పిల్లలు వున్నారు.

ಜೆರುಸಲೇಮ್ ನಗರವನುಐ ನಾಶಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಕೆಲವು ಜನ ಸೈನ್ಯಾಊಕಾರಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ಸೈನಿಕರು ಇನೂಐ ಕಾಡುಮೇಡುಗಳಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರು. ಙಾಬಿಲೋನಿನ ರಾಜನು ಅಹೀಕಾಮನ ಮಗನಾದ ಗೆದಲ್ಯನನುಐ ಅಳಿದುಳಿದ ಜನರ ಮೇಲಿಬಚಾರಕನನಾಐಗಿ ನೇಮಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆಂಘ ಸಮಾಚಾರ ಕಿವಿಗೆ ಬಿತ್ತು. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಅಳಿದುಳಿದವರು ಘಹಳ ಘಡವರಾದ ಗಂಡಸರು, ಹೆಂಗಸರು ಮತ್ತು ಮಕ್ಕಳು. ಅವರನುಐ ಘಂಊಗಳನಾಐಗಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಙಾಬಿಲೋನಿಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ଯେତବେେଳେ ୟିରୁଶାଲମ ଧ୍ବଂସ ହେଲା, ସେତବେେଳେ ଯିହୁଦାର କେତକେ ସନୋପତି, ଅଧିପତି ଓ ଲୋକ ବାହା ରେ ଥିଲେ। ସମାନେେ ଶୁଣିଲେ ଯେ ବାବିଲର ରାଜା ଅହୀକାମର ପୁତ୍ର ଗଦଲିଯକୁ ଦେଶର ଶାସନକର୍ତ୍ତା ରୂପେ ନିୟୁକ୍ତ କରିଅଛନ୍ତି। ସେ ତାଙ୍କ ଉପ ରେ ବାବିଲକୁ ନିଆୟାଇ ନ ଥିବା ପୁରୁଷ, ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ, ବାଳକ ଓ ବାଳିକା ଏବଂ ଦେଶସ୍ଥ ଦରିଦ୍ରମାନଙ୍କର ଭାର ନ୍ଯସ୍ତ କରିଅଛନ୍ତି।

यरुशलेमचा नाश झाला तेव्हा यहूदाच्या सैन्यातील काही सैनिक, अधिकारी आणि त्यांची काही माणसे रानात राहात होती. बाबेलच्या राजाने अहीकामचा मुलगा गदल्या ह्यास, मागे राहिलेल्या लोकांचा अधिपती म्हणून नेमले आहे, हे त्यांना कळले. अगदी गरीब स्त्री पुरुष व मुले ह्यांना कैद करुन बाबेलला नेले नव्हते हे लोक मागेच राहिले होते.
