ఆహాజు పాపం చేయటంతో అతని దేవుడైన యెహోవా అతనిని అరాము (సిరియా) రాజు చేతిలో ఓడిపోయేలా చేశాడు. అరాము రాజు, అతని సైన్యం ఆహాజును ఓడించి, అనేకమంది యూదా వారిని బందీలుగా పట్టుకున్నారు. అరాము రాజు ఆ బందీలను దమస్కు (డెమాస్కస్) నగరానికి పట్టుకుపోయాడు. ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజైన పెకహు కూడా ఆహాజును ఓడించేలా యెహోవా చేశాడు. పెకహు తండ్రి పేరు రెమల్యా. పెకహు అతని సైన్యం కలిసి ఒక్కరోజులో యూదాకు చెందిన ఒక లక్షా ఇరవై వేలమంది ధైర్యంగల సైనికులను చంపివేశారు. వారి పూర్వీకులు విధేయులైవున్న వారి దేవుడైన యెహోవాకు వారు అవిధేయులై నందువల్ల పెకహు యూదా ప్రజలను ఓడించ గలిగాడు.
