பெத்செயான், தானாக், தோர், இப்லெயாம், மெகிதோ ஆகிய நகரங்களிலும் அவற்றைச் சூழ்ந்திருந்த சிறு நகரங்களிலும் கானானியர் வாழ்ந்து வந்தனர். மனாசே கோத்திரத்தினரால் அந்த ஜனங்களை நகரங்களிலிருந்து வெளியேற்ற முடியவில்லை. எனவே கானானியர் அங்கே தங்கினார்கள். அவர்கள் தங்கள் வீடுகளை விட்டு வெளியேற மறுத்தனர்.

ಬೇತ್ಷೆಯಾನ್, ತಾನಾಕ್, ದೋರ್, ಇಬ್ಲೆಯಾಮ್, ಮೆಗಿದ್ದೋ ನಗರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಅವುಗಳ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಸಣ್ಣ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರು ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರನ್ನು ಈ ನಗರಗಳಿಂದ ಹೊರದೂಡುವುದು ಮನಸ್ಸೆ ಕುಲದವರಿಗೆ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರು ನೆಲೆನಿಂತರು. ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಡಲು ಸಮ್ಮತಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.
