ದಾವೀದನು ತನ್ನ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಅಂದು, “ನೀವು ಯೆಬೂಸಿಯರನ್ನು ಸೋಲಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದರೆ ಜಲಮಾರ್ಗದ ಮೂಲಕ ಹೋಗಿ ಶತ್ರುಗಳಾದ ‘ಕುಂಟರು ಮತ್ತು ಕುರುಡರನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಆದುದರಿಂದಲೇ “ಕುರುಡರು ಮತ್ತು ಕುಂಟರು ಮನೆಯೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬರಲಾಗದು” ಎಂಬ ನಾಣ್ಣುಡಿ ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು.
