BNV : হেরোদ যখন রাজা ছিলেন, সেই সময় যিহূদিয়ার বৈত্‌লেহমে যীশুর জন্ম হয়৷ সেই সময় প্রাচ্য থেকে কয়েকজন পণ্ডিত জেরুশালেমে এসে যীশুর খোঁজ করতে লাগলেন৷
KJV : Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
YLT : And Jesus having been born in Beth-Lehem of Judea, in the days of Herod the king, lo, mages from the east came to Jerusalem,

ERVEN : Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem in Judea during the time when Herod was king. After Jesus was born, some wise men from the east came to Jerusalem.

BNV : তাঁরা এসে জিজ্ঞেস করলেন, ‘ইহুদীদের য়ে নতুন রাজা জন্মেছেন তিনি কোথায়? কারণ পূর্ব দিকে আকাশে আমরা তাঁর তারা দেখে তাঁকে প্রণাম জানাতে এসেছি৷’
KJV : Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
YLT : saying, `Where is he who was born king of the Jews? for we saw his star in the east, and we came to bow to him.`

ERVEN : They asked people, "Where is the child that has been born to be the king of the Jews? We saw the star that shows he was born. We saw it rise in the sky in the east and have come to worship him."

BNV : রাজা হেরোদ একথা শুনে খুব বিচলিত হলেন এবং তাঁর সঙ্গে জেরুশালেমের সব লোক বিচলিত হল৷
KJV : When Herod the king had heard [these things,] he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
YLT : And Herod the king having heard, was stirred, and all Jerusalem with him,

BNV : তখন তিনি ইহুদীদের মধ্যে যাঁরা প্রধান যাজক ও ব্যবস্থার শিক্ষক ছিলেন, তাঁদের ডেকে জিজ্ঞেস করলেন, মশীহ (খ্রীষ্ট) কোথায় জন্মগ্রহণ করবেন?
KJV : And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
YLT : and having gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he was inquiring from them where the Christ is born.

BNV : তাঁরা হেরোদকে বললেন, ‘যিহূদিয়া প্রদেশের বৈত্‌লেহমে, কারণ ভাববাদী সেরকমই লিখে গেছেন:

BNV : ‘আর তুমি যিহূদা প্রদেশের বৈত্‌লেহম, তুমি যিহূদার শাসনকর্তাদের চোখে কোন অংশে নগন্য নও, কারণ তোমার মধ্য থেকে একজন শাসনকর্তা উঠবেন যিনি আমার প্রজা ইস্রায়েলকে চরাবেন৷'" মীখা 5:2
KJV : And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
YLT : And thou, Beth-Lehem, the land of Judah, thou art by no means the least among the leaders of Judah, for out of thee shall come one leading, who shall feed My people Israel.`

BNV : তখন হেরোদ সেই পণ্ডিতদের সঙ্গে একান্তে দেখা করার জন্য তাঁদের ডেকে পাঠালেন৷ তিনি তাঁদের কাছ থেকে জেনে নিলেন ঠিক কোন সময় তারাটা দেখা গিয়েছিল৷
KJV : Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
YLT : Then Herod, privately having called the mages, did inquire exactly from them the time of the appearing star,

BNV : এরপর হেরোদ তাদের বৈত্‌লেহমে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন আর বললেন, ‘দেখ, তোমরা সেখানে গিয়ে ভাল করে সেই শিশুর খোঁজ কর; আর খোঁজ পেলে, আমাকে জানিয়ে য়েও,. য়েন আমিও সেখানে গিয়ে তাঁকে প্রণাম করতে পারি৷’
KJV : And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found [him,] bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
YLT : and having sent them to Beth-Lehem, he said, `Having gone -- inquire ye exactly for the child, and whenever ye may have found, bring me back word, that I also having come may bow to him.`

BNV : তাঁরা রাজার কথা শুনে রওনা দিলেন৷ তাঁরা পূর্ব দিকে আকাশে য়ে তারাটা উঠতে দেখেছিলেন, সেটা তাঁদের আগে আগে চলল এবং শিশুটি য়েখানে ছিলেন তার ওপরে থামল৷
KJV : When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
YLT : And they, having heard the king, departed, and lo, the star, that they did see in the east, did go before them, till, having come, it stood over where the child was.

BNV : তাঁরা সেই তারাটি দেখে আনন্দে আত্মহারা হলেন৷

BNV : পরে সেই ঘরের মধ্যে ঢুকে শিশুটি ও তাঁর মা মরিয়মকে দেখতে পেয়ে তাঁরা মাথা নত করে তাঁকে প্রণাম করলেন ও তাঁর উপাসনা করলেন৷ তারপর তাঁদের উপহার সামগ্রী খুলে বের করে তাঁকে সোনা, সুগন্ধি গুগ্গুল ও সুগন্ধি নির্যাস উপহার দিলেন৷
KJV : And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

ERVEN : The wise men came to the house where the child was with his mother Mary. They bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened the boxes of gifts they had brought for him. They gave him treasures of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

BNV : এরপর ঈশ্বর স্বপ্নে তাঁদের সাবধান করে দিলেন য়েন তাঁরা হেরোদের কাছে ফিরে না যান, তাই তাঁরা অন্য পথে নিজেদের দেশে ফিরে গেলেন৷
KJV : And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
YLT : and having been divinely warned in a dream not to turn back unto Herod, through another way they withdrew to their own region.

BNV : তাঁরা চলে যাবার পর প্রভুর এক দূত স্বপ্নে য়োষেফকে দেখা দিয়ে বললেন, ‘ওঠো!’ শিশুটি ও তাঁর মাকে নিয়ে মিশরে পালিয়ে যাও৷ যতদিন না আমি তোমাদের বলি, তোমরা সেখানেই থেকো, কারণ এই শিশুটিকে মেরে ফেলার জন্য হেরোদ এর খোঁজ করবে৷’
KJV : And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
YLT : And on their having withdrawn, lo, a messenger of the Lord doth appear in a dream to Joseph, saying, `Having risen, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and be thou there till I may speak to thee, for Herod is about to seek the child to destroy him.`

ERVEN : After the wise men left, an angel from the Lord came to Joseph in a dream. The angel said, "Get up! Take the child with his mother and escape to Egypt. Herod wants to kill the child and will soon start looking for him. Stay in Egypt until I tell you to come back."

BNV : তখন য়োষেফ উঠে সেই শিশু ও তাঁর মাকে নিয়ে রাতে মিশরে রওনা হলেন৷
KJV : When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:

KJV : And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.

BNV : হেরোদ যখন দেখলেন য়ে সেই পণ্ডিতরা তাঁকে বোকা বানিয়েছে, তখন তিনি প্রচণ্ড ক্রুদ্ধ হলেন৷ তিনি সেই পণ্ডিতদের কাছ থেকে য়ে সময়ের কথা জেনেছিলেন, সেই হিসাব মতো দু’বছর ও তার কম বয়সের যত ছেলে বৈত্‌লেহম ও তার আশেপাশের অঞ্চলে ছিল, সকলকে হত্যা করার হুকুম দিলেন৷
KJV : Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.
YLT : Then Herod, having seen that he was deceived by the mages, was very wroth, and having sent forth, he slew all the male children in Beth-Lehem, and in all its borders, from two years and under, according to the time that he inquired exactly from the mages.

ESV : Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, became furious, and he sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had ascertained from the wise men.
ERVEN : Herod saw that the wise men had fooled him, and he was very angry. So he gave an order to kill all the baby boys in Bethlehem and the whole area around Bethlehem. Herod had learned from the wise men the time the baby was born. It was now two years from that time. So he said to kill all the boys who were two years old and younger.

BNV : এর ফলে ভাববাদী যিরমিয়র মাধ্যমে ঈশ্বর য়ে কথা বলেছিলেন তা পূর্ণ হল:

BNV : ‘রামায় একটা শব্দ শোনা গেল, কান্নার রোল ও তীব্র হাহাকার, রাহেল তাঁর সন্তানদের জন্য কাঁদছেন৷ তিনি কিছুতেই শান্ত হতে চাইছেন না, কারণ তারা কেউ আর বেঁচে নেই৷’ যিরমিয় 31 :
KJV : In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping [for] her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
YLT : `A voice in Ramah was heard -- lamentation and weeping and much mourning -- Rachel weeping [for] her children, and she would not be comforted because they are not.`

BNV : হেরোদ মারা যাবার পর প্রভুর এক দূত মিশরে য়োষেফকে স্বপ্নে দেখা দিয়ে বললেন,
KJV : But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
YLT : And Herod having died, lo, a messenger of the Lord in a dream doth appear to Joseph in Egypt,
RV : But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,

BNV : ‘ওঠো! এই শিশু ও তাঁর মাকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে ইস্রায়েল দেশে ফিরে যাও, কারণ যাঁরা এই ছেলের প্রাণ নাশের চেষ্টা করেছিল তারা সকলে মারা গেছে৷’
KJV : Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child’s life.
YLT : saying, `Having risen, take the child and his mother, and be going to the land of Israel, for they have died -- those seeking the life of the child.`

BNV : কিন্তু য়োষেফ যখন শুনলেন য়ে হেরোদের জায়গায় তাঁর পুত্র আর্খিলায় যিহূদিয়ার রাজা হয়েছে, তখন তিনি সেখানে ফিরে যেতে ভয় পেলেন৷ পরে আর এক স্বপ্নে তাঁকে সাবধান করে দেওয়া হল,
KJV : But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:
YLT : and having heard that Archelaus doth reign over Judea instead of Herod his father, he was afraid to go thither, and having been divinely warned in a dream, he withdrew to the parts of Galilee,

ESV : But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there, and being warned in a dream he withdrew to the district of Galilee.
ERVEN : But he heard that Archelaus was now king in Judea. Archelaus became king when his father Herod died. So Joseph was afraid to go there. Then, after being warned in a dream, he went away to the area of Galilee.
