ପରମେଶ୍ବର ଯାକୁବଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, "ତୁମ୍ଭର ନାମ ଯାକୁବ କିନ୍ତୁ ଆମ୍ଭେ ସହେି ନାମକୁ ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ କରିବା। ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଯାକୁବ ଡ଼କା ୟିବ ନାହିଁ। ତୁମ୍ଭର ନୂତନ ନାମ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲ ହବେ।" ଆଉ ସେ ତାଙ୍କର ନାମ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲ ରଖିଲେ।
