ದಾವೀದನು ಓಡುತ್ತಾ ಹೋಗಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನ ಪಕ್ಕದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡನು. ದಾವೀದನು ಗೊಲ್ಯಾತನ ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಒರೆಯಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದು ಅದೇ ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಅವನ ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿ ಹಾಕಿದನು. ದಾವೀದನು ಈ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗೊಲ್ಯಾತನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದನು. ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ತಮ್ಮ ನಾಯಕನು ಸತ್ತದ್ದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಓಡಿಹೋದರು.
