ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ತನ್ನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ--ಈ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮೇಲಿನಿಂದ ನಿಂದೆಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಬಿಡುವ ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಏನು ಮಾಡಲ್ಪಡುವದು? ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಈ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನು ಜೀವವುಳ್ಳ ದೇವರ ಸೈನ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಹೀಯಾ ಳಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಷ್ಟರವನು ಅಂದನು.

ದಾವೀದನು ತನ್ನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದವನಿಗೆ, “ಈ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಇಸ್ರೇಲರಿಗೆ ಉಂಟಾಗಿರುವ ಅಪನಿಂದೆಯನ್ನು ಹೋಗಲಾಡಿಸುವವನಿಗೆ ಸಿಗುವ ಬಹುಮಾನವೇನು? ಈ ಗೊಲ್ಯಾತನ್ಯಾರು? ಇವನು ಕೇವಲ ಒಬ್ಬ ಪರದೇಶಿ. ಗೊಲ್ಯಾತನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನೇ ಹೊರತು ಬೇರೆ ಯಾರೂ ಅಲ್ಲ. ಜೀವಸ್ವರೂಪನಾದ ದೇವರ ಸೈನ್ಯದ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಮಾತಾಡಲು ಇವನು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಯಾರೆಂದು ಯೋಚಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ?” ಎಂದನು.

ਤਾਂ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਕਿ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਫਲਿਸਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਕਲੰਕ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਹਟਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਇਹ ਅਸੁੰਨਤੀ ਫਲਿਸਤੀ ਹੈ ਕੌਣ ਜੋ ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਦਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਜਿਆਵਾਨ ਕਰੇ?
