ಬೇತೇಲಿನ ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ದೇವಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಹೇಳಿದ ಸಂದೇಶವು ರಾಜನಾದ ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನಿಗೆ ಕೇಳಿಸಿತು. ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಥಟ್ಟನೆ ತೆಗೆದು, ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಗುರಿಮಾಡಿ, “ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯಿರಿ!” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಆದರೆ ರಾಜನು ಇದನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದಾಗ, ಅವನ ಕೈಗೆ ಲಕ್ವ ಹೊಡೆಯಿತು. ಅವನು ಅದನ್ನು ಚಲಿಸಲಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ,

જયારે યરોબઆમે પેલા દેવના માંણસને બેથેલની વેદીને શાપ આપતો સાંભળ્યો, તે સમયે તેણે વેદી પાસેથી હાથ લઇ લીધો, તે માંણસ તરફ ચીંધ્યો અને કહ્યું, “તેને પકડો.” પણ જેવું તેણે આમ કહ્યું કે, તરત જ એ માંણસ સામે એણે લંબાવેલો હાથ એ જ સ્થિતિમાં લકવાગ્રસ્ત થઈ ગયો, તે પોતાના હાથને પાછો ખેંચી શકયો નહિ.
