ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಎಣ್ಣೆಯಿದ್ದ ಕೊಂಬನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ಅದರಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ವಿಶೇಷವಾದ ಎಣ್ಣೆಯನ್ನು ಇಷಯನ ಕಿರಿಮಗನ ಮೇಲೆ, ಅವನ ಸೋದರರ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲೇ ಸುರಿದನು. ಆ ದಿನದಿಂದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆತ್ಮವು ಮಹಾಶಕ್ತಿಯೊಡನೆ ದಾವೀದನಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿತು. ಅನಂತರ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ರಾಮಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿದನು.
