তিনি পথের ধারে একটি ডুমুর গাছ দেখতে পেয়ে সেই গাছটার কাছে গেলেন৷ কিন্তু পাতা ছাড়া তাতে কিছু দেখতে পেলেন না৷ তখন তিনি সেই গাছটিকে বললেন, ‘তোমাতে আর কখনও ফল হবে না৷’ আর সেইডুমুর গাছটি শুকিয়ে গেল৷

And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, {SCJ}Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever.{SCJ.} And presently the fig tree withered away.
