কিন্তু পৌল তাদের বললেন, ‘আমরা রোমান নাগরিক হওয়া সত্ত্বেও তারা আমাদের বিচার না করেই সকলের সামনে বেত মেরেছেন৷ শেষে আমাদের কারাগারে বন্দী করেছিলেন৷ এখন তারা চুপি-চুপি আমাদের ছেড়ে দিতে চাইছেন? এ হতে পারে না! কিন্তু তাদের এখানে আসতে হবে আর এসে আমাদের কারাগারের বাইরে নিয়ে য়েতে হবে৷’

But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast [us] into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out.

and Paul said to them, `Having beaten us publicly uncondemned -- men, Romans being -- they did cast [us] to prison, and now privately do they cast us forth! why no! but having come themselves, let them bring us forth.`
