నెబుకద్నెజరు సైన్యము చివరికి నగర ప్రాకారమున బద్దలు చేసింది. ఆ రాత్రి సిద్కియా రాజు అతని సైనికులు పారిపోయారు. వారు రాజుగారి ఉద్యనవనము ద్వారా రహస్య ద్వారాన్ని ఉపయోగించి జంట గోడలద్వారా వెళ్లారు. విరోధి సైనికులు నగరం చుట్టూ వుండిరి. కాని సిద్కియా అతని మనుష్యులు మార్గము మీదికి తప్పించుకుని ఎడారికి పారపోయారు.

ಆಗ ನೆಬೂಕದ್ನೆಚ್ಚರನ ಸೇನೆಯು ನಗರದ ಗೋಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ರಂಧ್ರವನ್ನು ಕೊರೆದರು. ಅಂದಿನ ರಾತ್ರಿ ರಾಜನಾದ ಚಿದ್ಕೀಯ ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ಸೈನಿಕರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಓಡಿಹೋದರು. ಅವರು ರಾಜನ ತೋಟದ ಎರಡು ಗೋಡೆಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯಭಾಗದ ರಹಸ್ಯ ಬಾಗಿಲಿನ ಮೂಲಕ ಓಡಿಹೋದರು. ಬಾಬಿಲೋನ್ ಸೇನೆಯು ನಗರವನ್ನು ಸುತ್ತುವರಿದಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಚಿದ್ಕೀಯ ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ಸೇನೆಯು ಮರುಭೂಮಿಯ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು.
