BNV : যীশু যিরীহো শহরের মধ্য দিয়ে যাচ্ছিলেন৷
KJV : And [Jesus] entered and passed through Jericho.

BNV : সেখানে সক্কেয় নামে একজন লোক ছিল৷ সে ছিল একজন উচ্চ-পদস্থ কর আদায়কারী ও খুব ধনী ব্যক্তি৷
KJV : And, behold, [there was] a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.
YLT : and lo, a man, by name called Zaccheus, and he was a chief tax-gatherer, and he was rich,
RV : And behold, a man called by name Zacchaeus; and he was a chief publican, and he was rich.

BNV : কে যীশু তা দেখার জন্য সক্কেয় খুবই চেষ্টা করছিল, কিন্তু বেঁটে হওযাতে ভীড়ের জন্য যীশুকে দেখতে পাচ্ছিল না৷
KJV : And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.
YLT : and he was seeking to see Jesus, who he is, and was not able for the multitude, because in stature he was small,

ERVEN : He wanted to see who Jesus was. There were many others who wanted to see Jesus too. Zacchaeus was too short to see above the people.

BNV : তাই সবার আগে ছুটে গিয়ে য়ে পথ ধরে যীশু আসছিলেন, সেই পথের পাশে একটা সুকমোর গাছে উঠল যাতে সেখান থেকে যীশুকে দেখতে পায়৷
KJV : And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that [way. ]
YLT : and having run forward before, he went up on a sycamore, that he may see him, because through that [way] he was about to pass by.

BNV : যীশু সেখানে এসে ওপর দিকে তাকিয়ে বললেন, ‘সক্কেয় তাড়াতাড়ি নেমে এস, কারণ আজ আমায় তোমার ঘরে থাকতে হবে৷’
KJV : And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, {SCJ}Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. {SCJ.}
YLT : And as Jesus came up to the place, having looked up, he saw him, and said unto him, `Zaccheus, having hastened, come down, for to-day in thy house it behoveth me to remain;`

BNV : সক্কেয় তাড়াতাড়ি নেমে এসে মহানন্দে যীশুকে তার বাড়িতে নিয়ে গিয়ে অভ্যর্থনা জানাল৷
KJV : And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
YLT : and he having hastened did come down, and did receive him rejoicing;

ERVEN : Zacchaeus hurried and came down. He was happy to have Jesus in his house.

BNV : সেখানে যাঁরা ছিল, এই দেখে তারা সকলে অনুয়োগের সুরে বলল, ‘উনি একজন পাপীর ঘরে অতিথি হয়ে গেলেন৷’
KJV : And when they saw [it,] they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
YLT : and having seen [it], they were all murmuring, saying -- `With a sinful man he went in to lodge!`
RV : And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, He is gone in to lodge with a man that is a sinner.

ERVEN : Everyone saw this. They began to complain, "Look at the kind of man Jesus is staying with. Zacchaeus is a sinner!"

BNV : কিন্তু সক্কেয় উঠে দাঁড়িয়ে প্রভুকে বলল, ‘প্রভু দেখুন, আমি আমার সম্পদের অর্ধেক গরীবদের মধ্যে বিলিয়ে দেব, আর যদি কাউকে ঠকিয়ে থাকি তবে তার চতুর্গুণ ফিরিয়ে দেব৷’
KJV : And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore [him] fourfold.
YLT : And Zaccheus having stood, said unto the Lord, `Lo, the half of my goods, sir, I give to the poor, and if of any one anything I did take by false accusation, I give back fourfold.`
RV : And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord, Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have wrongfully exacted aught of any man, I restore fourfold.

ERVEN : Zacchaeus said to the Lord, "I want to do good. I will give half of my money to the poor. If I have cheated anyone, I will pay them back four times more."

BNV : যীশু তাকে বললেন, ‘আজ এই বাড়িতে পরিত্রাণ এসেছে, য়েহেতু এই মানুষটি অব্রাহামের পুত্র৷
KJV : And Jesus said unto him, {SCJ}This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. {SCJ.}
YLT : And Jesus said unto him -- `To-day salvation did come to this house, inasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham;

ERVEN : Jesus said, "Today is the day for this family to be saved from sin. Yes, even this tax collector is one of God's chosen people.

BNV : কারণ যা হারিয়ে গিয়েছিল তা খুঁজে বের করতে ও উদ্ধার করতেই মানবপুত্র এ জগতে এসেছেন৷’

BNV : যীশু জেরুশালেমের কাছাকাছি এগিয়ে গেলে লোকদের ধারণা হল য়ে তখনই বুঝি ঈশ্বরের রাজ্য এসে পড়ল৷ তাই তিনি তাদের কাছে এই দৃষ্টান্তটি দিলেন৷
KJV : And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.
YLT : And while they are hearing these things, having added he spake a simile, because of his being nigh to Jerusalem, and of their thinking that the reign of God is about presently to be made manifest.

ERVEN : As the crowd listened to what he was saying, Jesus went on to tell a story. He was now near Jerusalem and knew that the people thought it was almost time for God's kingdom to come.

BNV : আবার আগে তিনি তাঁর দশজন কর্মচারীকে ডেকে প্রত্যেকের হাতে একটি করে মোট দশটি মোহর দিয়ে বললেন, ‘আমি ফিরে না আসা পর্যন্ত এই দিয়ে ব্যবসা করো৷’
KJV : {SCJ}And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. {SCJ.}
YLT : and having called ten servants of his own, he gave to them ten pounds, and said unto them, Do business -- till I come;

BNV : কিন্তু তাঁর প্রজারা তাকে ঘৃণা করত; আর তিনি চলে যাওযার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে স্থানীয় লোকেরা একজন প্রতিনিধির মাধ্যমে বলে পাঠাল, ‘আমরা চাই না য়ে এই লোক আমাদের রাজা হোক্!’
KJV : {SCJ}But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this [man] to reign over us. {SCJ.}
YLT : and his citizens were hating him, and did send an embassy after him, saying, We do not wish this one to reign over us.

BNV : ‘কিন্তু সেই ব্যক্তি রাজপদ নিয়ে বাড়ি ফিরে এলেন; আর য়ে কর্মচারীদের তিনি টাকা দিয়েছিলেন তাদের সকলকে ডেকে পাঠালেন৷ তিনি দেখতে চাইলেন য়ে তারা কে কত লাভ করেছে৷
KJV : {SCJ}And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. {SCJ.}
YLT : `And it came to pass, on his coming back, having taken the kingdom, that he commanded these servants to be called to him, to whom he gave the money, that he might know what any one had done in business.

BNV : প্রথম জন এসে বলল, ‘প্রভু, আপনার এক মোহর খাটিয়ে দশ মোহর লাভ হয়েছে৷
KJV : {SCJ}Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds. {SCJ.}
YLT : `And the first came near, saying, Sir, thy pound did gain ten pounds;

BNV : তখন মনিব তাকে বললেন, ‘খুব ভাল করেছ, তুমি খুব ভাল কর্মচারী৷ তুমি অল্প বিষয়ে বিশ্বস্ত ছিলে তাই তোমাকে দশটি শহরের শাসক হিসেবে নিযোগ করা হবে৷’
KJV : {SCJ}And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities. {SCJ.}
YLT : and he said to him, Well done, good servant, because in a very little thou didst become faithful, be having authority over ten cities.

BNV : তিনি তাকে বললেন, ‘তোমাকে পাঁচটি শহরের শাসনভার দেওযা হবে৷’

BNV : এরপর আর একজন এসে বলল, ‘প্রভু, এই নিন আপনার মোহর, এটা আমি রুমালে বেঁধে আলাদা করে রেখে দিয়েছিলাম৷
KJV : {SCJ}And another came, saying, Lord, behold, [here is] thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin: {SCJ.}
YLT : `And another came, saying, Sir, lo, thy pound, that I had lying away in a napkin;

ERVEN : "Then another servant came in and said to the king, 'Sir, here is your bag of money. I wrapped it in a piece of cloth and hid it.

BNV : আপনার বিষয়ে আমার খুব ভয় ছিল, কারণ আপনি খুব কঠিন লোক৷ আপনি যা জমা করেন নি তাই নিয়ে থাকেন, আর যা বোনেন না তার ফসল কাটেন৷’
KJV : {SCJ}For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow. {SCJ.}

BNV : তখন তার প্রভু তাকে বললেন, ‘তোমার কথা অনুসারেই আমি তোমার বিচার করব, তুমি একজন দুষ্ট কর্মচারী৷ তুমি জানতে আমি একজন কঠিন লোক, আমি যা জমা করি না তাই পেতে চাই, যা বুনি না তাই কাটি৷
KJV : {SCJ}And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, [thou] wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow: {SCJ.}
YLT : `And he saith to him, Out of thy mouth I will judge thee, evil servant: thou knewest that I am an austere man, taking up what I did not lay down, and reaping what I did not sow!
RV : He saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I am an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow;
RSV : He said to him, `I will condemn you out of your own mouth, you wicked servant! You knew that I was a severe man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow?
ASV : He saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I am an austere man, taking up that which I laid not down, and reaping that which I did not sow;
ESV : He said to him, 'I will condemn you with your own words, you wicked servant! You knew that I was a severe man, taking what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow?
ERVEN : "Then the king said to him, 'What a bad servant you are! I will use your own words to condemn you. You said that I am a hard man. You said that I even take money that I didn't earn and gather food that I didn't grow.

BNV : তবে তুমি আমার টাকা কেন মহাজনদের কাছে জমা রাখনি? তাহলে তো আমি টাকার সুদটাও অন্ততঃ পেতাম৷’
KJV : {SCJ}Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury? {SCJ.}
YLT : and wherefore didst thou not give my money to the bank, and I, having come, with interest might have received it?
RV : then wherefore gavest thou not my money into the bank, and I at my coming should have required it with interest?
RSV : Why then did you not put my money into the bank, and at my coming I should have collected it with interest?'
ASV : then wherefore gavest thou not my money into the bank, and I at my coming should have required it with interest?

ERVEN : If that is true, you should have put my money in the bank. Then, when I came back, my money would have earned some interest.'

BNV : আর যাঁরা সেখানে দাঁড়িয়ে ছিল তিনি তাদের বললেন, ‘এর কাছ থেকে ঐ মোহর নিয়ে নাও আর যার দশ মোহর আছে তাকে ওটা দাও৷’
KJV : {SCJ}And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give [it] to him that hath ten pounds. {SCJ.}
YLT : `And to those standing by he said, Take from him the pound, and give to him having the ten pounds --
RV : And he said unto them that stood by, Take away from him the pound, and give it unto him that hath the ten pounds.
RSV : And he said to those who stood by, `Take the pound from him, and give it to him who has the ten pounds.'
ASV : And he said unto them that stood by, Take away from him the pound, and give it unto him that hath the ten pounds.
ESV : And he said to those who stood by, 'Take the mina from him, and give it to the one who has the ten minas.'
ERVEN : Then the king said to the men who were watching, 'Take the bag of money away from this servant and give it to the servant who earned ten bags of money.'

BNV : তখন তারা তাকে বলল, ‘প্রভু, ওর তো দশটা মোহর আছে!’

KJV : {SCJ}For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him. {SCJ.}
YLT : for I say to you, that to every one having shall be given, and from him not having, also what he hath shall be taken from him,
RV : I say unto you, that unto every one that hath shall be given; but from him that hath not, even that which he hath shall be taken away from him.
RSV : `I tell you, that to every one who has will more be given; but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away.

ERVEN : "The king said, 'People who use what they have will get more. But those who do not use what they have will have everything taken away from them.

ERVEN : Jesus was coming close to Jerusalem. He was already near the bottom of the Mount of Olives. The whole group of followers was happy. They were very excited and praised God. They thanked God for all the powerful things they had seen.
