BNV : এরপর যীশু তাঁর অনুগামীদের বললেন, ‘কোন একজন ধনী ব্যক্তির একজন দেওযান ছিল; আর এই দেওযান তার মনিবের সম্পদ নষ্ট করছে বলে তার বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগ উঠল৷
KJV : And he said also unto his disciples, {SCJ}There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods. {SCJ.}
YLT : And he said also unto his disciples, `A certain man was rich, who had a steward, and he was accused to him as scattering his goods;

ERVEN : Jesus said to his followers, "Once there was a rich man. He hired a manager to take care of his business. Later, he learned that his manager was cheating him.

BNV : তখন সেই ধনী ব্যক্তি ঐ দেওযানকে ডেকে বললেন, ‘তোমার বিষয়ে আমি এ কি শুনছি? তোমার কাজের হিসাব আমায় দাও, কারণ তুমি আর আমার দেওযান থাকতে পারবে না৷’
KJV : {SCJ}And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward. {SCJ.}
YLT : and having called him, he said to him, What [is] this I hear about thee? render the account of thy stewardship, for thou mayest not any longer be steward.
RV : And he called him, and said unto him, What is this that I hear of thee? render the account of thy stewardship; for thou canst be no longer steward.
RSV : And he called him and said to him, `What is this that I hear about you? Turn in the account of your stewardship, for you can no longer be steward.'

ERVEN : So he called the manager in and said to him, 'I have heard bad things about you. Give me a report of what you have done with my money. You can't be my manager anymore.'

BNV : তখন সেই দেওযান মনে মনে বলল, ‘এখন আমি কি করব? আমার মনিব তো আমাকে চাকরি থেকে বরখাস্ত করলেন৷ আমি য়ে মজুরের কাজ করে খাব তার ক্ষমতাও আমার নেই, আর ভিক্ষা করতেও আমার লজ্জা লাগে৷
KJV : {SCJ}Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed. {SCJ.}
YLT : `And the steward said in himself, What shall I do, because my lord doth take away the stewardship from me? to dig I am not able, to beg I am ashamed: --
RV : And the steward said within himself, What shall I do, seeing that my lord taketh away the stewardship from me? I have not strength to dig; to beg I am ashamed.
RSV : And the steward said to himself, `What shall I do, since my master is taking the stewardship away from me? I am not strong enough to dig, and I am ashamed to beg.

ERVEN : "So, the manager thought to himself, 'What will I do? My master is taking my job away from me. I am not strong enough to dig ditches. I am too proud to beg.

BNV : আমার দেওযানী পদ গেলেও লোকে যাতে তাদের বাড়িতে আমায় থাকতে দেয় সে জন্য আমায় কি করতে হবে তা আমি জানি৷’
KJV : {SCJ}I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. {SCJ.}
YLT : I have known what I shall do, that, when I may be removed from the stewardship, they may receive me to their houses.
RV : I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.
RSV : I have decided what to do, so that people may receive me into their houses when I am put out of the stewardship.'

BNV : তখন তার মনিবের কাছে যাঁরা ধারে জিনিস নিয়েছিল তাদের প্রত্যেককে সে ডেকে তাদের প্রথম জনকে বলল, ‘আমার মনিবের কাছে তুমি কত ধার?’
KJV : {SCJ}So he called every one of his lord’s debtors [unto him,] and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord? {SCJ.}
YLT : `And having called near each one of his lord`s debtors, he said to the first, How much dost thou owe to my lord?
RV : And calling to him each one of his lord-s debtors, he said to the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?
RSV : So, summoning his master's debtors one by one, he said to the first, `How much do you owe my master?'

BNV : সে বলল, ‘একশো মন অলিভ তেল৷’ তখন সেই দেওযান তাকে বলল, ‘এই নাও তোমার হিসাবের কাগজটা, তাড়াতাড়ি করে লেখ, পঞ্চাশ মন৷’
KJV : {SCJ}And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty. {SCJ.}
YLT : and he said, A hundred baths of oil; and he said to him, Take thy bill, and having sat down write fifty.

ERVEN : He answered, 'I owe him 100 jars of olive oil.' The manager said to him, 'Here is your bill. Hurry! Sit down and make the bill less. Write 50 jars.'

BNV : এরপর আর একজন লোককে সে বলল, ‘আর তুমি, তুমি কত ধার?’ সে বলল, ‘একশো মন গম৷’ সেই দেওযান তাকে বলল, ‘তোমার রসিদটা দেখি, এটাতে আশি মন লেখ৷’

ERVEN : "Then the manager asked another one, 'How much do you owe my master?' He answered, 'I owe him 100 measures of wheat.' Then the manager said to him, 'Here is your bill; you can make it less. Write 80 measures.'

BNV : সেই মনিব তাঁর অসত্ দেওযানের প্রশংসা করলেন, কারণ সে বুদ্ধিমানের মত কাজ করেছিল৷ এ জগতের লোকেরা নিজেদের মত লোকেদের সঙ্গে আচার আচরণে জ্যোতির সন্তানদের থেকে বেশী বিচক্ষণ৷
KJV : {SCJ}And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light. {SCJ.}
YLT : `And the lord commended the unrighteous steward that he did prudently, because the sons of this age are more prudent than the sons of the light, in respect to their generation.

BNV : ‘আমি তোমাদের বলছি, তোমাদের জাগতিক সম্পদ দিয়ে নিজেদের জন্য বন্ধু লাভ কর, য়েন যখন তা শেষ হয়ে যাবে, তখন তারা তোমাদের অনন্ত আবাসে স্বাগত জানায়৷
KJV : {SCJ}And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. {SCJ.}
YLT : and I say to you, Make to yourselves friends out of the mammon of unrighteousness, that when ye may fail, they may receive you to the age-during tabernacles.

ERVEN : "I tell you, use the worldly things you have now to make 'friends' for later. Then, when those things are gone, you will be welcomed into a home that lasts forever.

BNV : য়ে সামান্য বিষয়ে বিশ্বস্ত হতে পারে, বড় ব্যাপারেও তাকে বিশ্বাস করা চলে৷ য়ে ছোটখাটো বিষয়ে অবিশ্বস্ত, সে বড় বড় বিষয়েও অবিশ্বস্ত হবে৷
KJV : {SCJ}He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. {SCJ.}
YLT : `He who is faithful in the least, [is] also faithful in much; and he who in the least [is] unrighteous, is also unrighteous in much;
RV : He that is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much: and he that is unrighteous in a very little is unrighteous also in much.
RSV : "He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much; and he who is dishonest in a very little is dishonest also in much.

ERVEN : Whoever can be trusted with small things can also be trusted with big things. Whoever is dishonest in little things will be dishonest in big things too.

BNV : তাই জাগতিক সম্পদ সম্বন্ধে তুমি যদি বিশ্বস্ত না হও, তবে প্রকৃত সত্য সম্পদের বিষয়ে কে তোমাকে বিশ্বাস করবে৷
KJV : {SCJ}If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true [riches? ]{SCJ.}
YLT : if, then, in the unrighteous mammon ye became not faithful -- the true who will entrust to you?
RV : If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true {cf15i riches}?

BNV : অপরের জিনিসের ব্যাপারে তোমাদের যদি বিশ্বাস করা না যায়, তবে তোমাদের যা নিজস্ব সম্পদ তাই বা কে তোমাদের দেবে?
KJV : {SCJ}And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own? {SCJ.}

BNV : ‘কোন দাস দুজন কর্তার দাসত্ব করতে পারে না, হয় সে একজনকে ঘৃণা করবে ও অন্যজনকে ভালবাসবে, অথবা একজনের অনুগত হয়ে অন্য জনকে তুচ্ছ করবে৷ তোমরা ঈশ্বর ও ধন-সম্পদ উভয়েরই দাসত্ব করতে পার না৷’
KJV : {SCJ}No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. {SCJ.}

BNV : অর্থলোভী ফরীশীরা যীশুর এই সব কথা শুনে যীশুকে ব্যঙ্গ করতে লাগল৷
KJV : And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.
YLT : And also the Pharisees, being lovers of money, were hearing all these things, and were deriding him,

BNV : তখন যীশু তাদের বললেন, ‘তোমরা সেই রকম লোক, যাঁরা লোকচক্ষে নিজেদের খুব ধার্মিক বলে জাহির করে থাকে, কিন্তু তোমাদের অন্তরে কি আছে ঈশ্বর তা জানেন৷ মানুষের চোখে যা মহান, ঈশ্বরের দৃষ্টিতে তা ঘৃন্য৷
KJV : And he said unto them, {SCJ}Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. {SCJ.}
YLT : and he said to them, `Ye are those declaring yourselves righteous before men, but God doth know your hearts; because that which among men is high, [is] abomination before God;

BNV : ‘য়োহন বাপ্তাইজকের সময় পর্যন্ত বিধি-ব্যবস্থা ও ভাববাদীদের শিক্ষার প্রচলন ছিল৷ তারপর থেকে ঈশ্বরের রাজ্যের বিষয় সুসমাচার প্রচার করা শুরু হয়েছে৷ আর সেই রাজ্যে প্রবেশ করার জন্য সবাই প্রবলভাবে চেষ্টা করছে৷
KJV : {SCJ}The law and the prophets [were] until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it. {SCJ.}
YLT : the law and the prophets [are] till John; since then the reign of God is proclaimed good news, and every one doth press into it;

BNV : তবে বিধি-ব্যবস্থার এক বিন্দু বাদ পড়ার চেয়ে বরং আকাশ ও পৃথিবীর লোপ পাওযা সহজ৷
KJV : {SCJ}And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail. {SCJ.}
YLT : and it is easier to the heaven and the earth to pass away, than of the law one tittle to fall.

BNV : ‘য়ে কেউ নিজের স্ত্রীর সঙ্গে বিবাহ বিচ্ছেদ করে অন্য কোন স্ত্রীলোককে বিয়ে করে, সে ব্যভিচার করে; আর য়ে সেই পরিত্যক্তা স্ত্রীকে বিয়ে করে সেও, ব্যভিচার করে৷’
KJV : {SCJ}Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from [her] husband committeth adultery. {SCJ.}
YLT : `Every one who is sending away his wife, and marrying another, doth commit adultery; and every one who is marrying her sent away from a husband doth commit adultery.

BNV : ‘এক সময় একজন ধনী ব্যক্তি ছিল, সে বেগুনী রঙের কাপড় ও বহুমূল্য পোশাক পরত; আর প্রতিদিন বিলাসে দিন কাটাতো৷
KJV : {SCJ}There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: {SCJ.}
YLT : `And -- a certain man was rich, and was clothed in purple and fine linen, making merry sumptuously every day,

BNV : তারই দরজার সামনে লাসার নামে একজন ভিখারী পড়ে থাকত, যার সারা শরীর ঘায়ে ভরে গিয়েছিল৷

BNV : সেই ধনী ব্যক্তির টেবিল থেকে টুকরো-টাকরা য়ে খাবার পড়ত তাই খেয়ে সে পেট ভরাবার আশায় থাকত, এমনকি কুকুররা এসে তার ঘা চেটে দিত৷
KJV : {SCJ}And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. {SCJ.}

BNV : একদিন সেই গরীব ভিখারী মারা গেল, আর স্বর্গদূতেরা এসে তাকে নিয়ে গেল এবং সে অব্রাহামের কোলে স্থান পেল৷ সেই ধনী ব্যক্তি ও একদিন মারা গেল, আর তাকে সমাধি দেওযা হল৷

ERVEN : "Later, Lazarus died. The angels took him and placed him in the arms of Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried.

BNV : সেই ধনী ব্যক্তি পাতালে নরকে খুব যন্ত্রণার মধ্যে কাটাতে থাকল৷ এই অবস্থায় সে মুখ তুলে তাকাতে বহুদূরে অব্রাহামকে দেখতে পেল; আর অব্রাহামের কোলে সেই লাসারকে দেখতে পেল৷

BNV : সেই ধনী ব্যক্তি তখন চিত্‌কার করে বলে উঠল, ‘হে পিতা, অব্রাহাম, আমার প্রতি দযা করুন, লাসারকে এখানে পাঠিয়ে দিন, য়েন সে এখানে এসে ওর আঙ্গুলের ডগা জলে ডুবিয়ে আমার জিভ জুড়িয়ে দেয়, কারণ আমি এই আগুনের মধ্যে বড়ই কষ্ট পাচ্ছি!’
KJV : {SCJ}And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. {SCJ.}

BNV : কিন্তু অব্রাহাম বললেন, ‘হে আমার বত্‌স, মনে করে দেখ, জীবনে সুখের সব কিছুই তুমি ভোগ করেছ আর সেই সময় লাসার অনেক কষ্ট পেয়েছে৷ কিন্তু এখন এখানে সে সুখ পাচ্ছে আর তুমি কষ্ট পাচ্ছ৷

BNV : এছাড়া তোমাদের ও আমাদের মাঝে এক মহাশূন্য স্থান আছে, যাতে ইচ্ছা থাকলেও কেউ এখানে থেকে পার হয়ে তোমাদের কাছে য়েতে না পারে, আর ওখান থেকে পার হয়ে কেউ আমাদের কাছে আসতে না পারে৷’
KJV : {SCJ}And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that [would come] from thence. {SCJ.}
