BNV : যিহূদার রাজা হিষ্কিয়ের বছরের রাজত্বকালে অশূরের রাজা সন্হেরীব যিহূদার দুর্ভেদ্য নগরগুলিতে যুদ্ধ করতে গিয়েছিলেন| সন্হেরীব সেই শহরগুলিকে পরাস্ত করেন|
KJV : Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, [that] Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the defenced cities of Judah, and took them.
YLT : And it cometh to pass, in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, come up hath Sennacherib king of Asshur against all the fenced cities of Judah, and seizeth them.
RV : Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fenced cities of Judah and took them.
RSV : In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah and took them.

ERVEN : During Hezekiah's 14 year as king, Sennacherib king of Assyria went to fight against all the strong cities of Judah. Sennacherib defeated those cities.

BNV : সন্হেরীব বিশাল সেনাদল সহ তাঁর সেনাপতিকে জেরুশালেমের রাজা হিষ্কিয়ের বিরুদ্ধে পাঠিয়েছিলেন| সেনাপতি ও তার সেনাদল লাখীশ ত্যাগ করে জেরুশালেমে যায়| তারা ধোপার মাঠে যাওয়ার পথে যে উচ্চতর পুষ্করিনীটি আছে তার জলের নলের কাছে থেমেছিল|
KJV : And the king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem unto king Hezekiah with a great army. And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller’s field.
YLT : And the king of Asshur sendeth Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem, unto the king Hezekiah, with a heavy force, and he standeth by the conduit of the upper pool, in the highway of the fuller`s field,
RV : And the king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem unto king Hezekiah with a great army. And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller-s field.
RSV : And the king of Assyria sent the Rabshakeh from Lachish to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem, with a great army. And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool on the highway to the Fuller's Field.
ASV : And the king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem unto king Hezekiah with a great army. And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fullers field.
ESV : And the king of Assyria sent the Rabshakeh from Lachish to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem, with a great army. And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool on the highway to the Washer's Field.
ERVEN : He sent his commander with a large army to King Hezekiah in Jerusalem. The commander and his army left Lachish and went to Jerusalem. They stopped near the aqueduct by the Upper Pool, on the street that leads up to Laundryman's Field.

BNV : জেরুশালেম থেকে সেনাপতির সঙ্গে কথা বলতে তিনজন মানুষ যায়| এরা ছিলেন হিল্কিয়ের পুত্র ইলিয়াকীম, আসফের পুত্র য়োযাহ ও শিব্ন| ইলিয়াকীম ছিলেন প্রাসাদের পরিচালক| য়োযাহ ছিলেন নথীরক্ষক এবং শিব্ন ছিলেন রাজপরিবারের সচিব|
KJV : Then came forth unto him Eliakim, Hilkiah’s son, which was over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, Asaph’s son, the recorder.
YLT : and go forth unto him doth Eliakim son of Hilkiah, who [is] over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah son of Asaph, the remembrancer.
RV : Then came forth unto him Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.
RSV : And there came out to him Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the secretary, and Joah the son of Asaph, the recorder.
ASV : Then came forth unto him Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder.
ESV : And there came out to him Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the secretary, and Joah the son of Asaph, the recorder.
ERVEN : Three men from Jerusalem went out to talk with the commander. These men were Eliakim son of Hilkiah, Joah son of Asaph, and Shebna. Eliakim was the palace manager, Joah was the record keeper, and Shebna was the royal secretary.

BNV : সেনাপতি তাদের বলল, “অশূরের মহান রাজা যা বলেন তা হিষ্কিয়কে গিয়ে বল| কথাটা হল:তোমরা কাদের কাছ থেকে সাহায্য পাবার আশা কর?
KJV : And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
YLT : And Rabshakeh saith unto them, `Say ye, I pray you, unto Hezekiah, `Thus said the great king, the king of Asshur, What [is] this confidence in which thou hast confided?
RV : And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, what confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
RSV : And the Rabshakeh said to them, "Say to Hezekiah, `Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria: On what do you rest this confidence of yours?
ASV : And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
ESV : And the Rabshakeh said to them, "Say to Hezekiah, 'Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria: On what do you rest this trust of yours?
ERVEN : The commander told them, "Tell Hezekiah this is what the great king, the king of Assyria says: 'What are you trusting in to help you?

BNV : আমি বলি, তোমরা যদি ক্ষমতা ও সুপরামর্শের সাহায্যে যুদ্ধ করার ওপর আস্থাশীল হও- সেটা তখন হবে অপ্রয়োজনীয়| ওসব কিছুই নয়, নিছকই বুলি মাত্র| এখন আমি জানতে চাই যে কার ওপর তোমরা এত নির্ভর করছ যে আমার বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করতে চাও?
KJV : I say, [sayest thou,] (but [they are but] vain words) [I have] counsel and strength for war: now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?
YLT : I have said: Only, a word of the lips! counsel and might [are] for battle: now, on whom hast thou trusted, that thou hast rebelled against me?
RV : I say, {cf15i thy} counsel and strength for the war are but vain words: now on whom dost thou trust, that thou hast rebelled against me?
RSV : Do you think that mere words are strategy and power for war? On whom do you now rely, that you have rebelled against me?
ASV : I say, thy counsel and strength for the war are but vain words: now on whom dost thou trust, that thou hast rebelled against me?

ERVEN : I tell you, if you are trusting in power and great battle plans, that is useless. Those are nothing but empty words. Now I ask you, who do you trust so much that you are willing to rebel against me?

BNV : তোমরা কি মনে কর মিশর তোমাদের সাহায্য করবে? মিশর ভাঙা লাঠির মতো| তোমরা যদি সমর্থনের জন্য সেই লাঠির ওপর ভর দাও, তবে এটা তোমাদের আঘাত করবে এবং তোমাদের হাতের মধ্যে গর্তের সৃষ্টি করবে| মিশরের রাজা ফরৌণের ওপর সাহায্যের বিষয়ে কেউই আস্থা রাখতে পারে না|
KJV : Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so [is] Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.
YLT : `Lo, thou hast trusted on the staff of this broken reed -- on Egypt -- which a man leaneth on, and it hath gone into his hand, and pierced it -- so [is] Pharaoh king of Egypt to all those trusting on him.
RV : Behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust on him.
RSV : Behold, you are relying on Egypt, that broken reed of a staff, which will pierce the hand of any man who leans on it. Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who rely on him.

ESV : Behold, you are trusting in Egypt, that broken reed of a staff, which will pierce the hand of any man who leans on it. Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.
ERVEN : Are you depending on Egypt to help you? Egypt is like a broken walking stick. If you lean on it for support, it will only stab you and hurt you. Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, cannot be trusted by anyone who depends on him for help.

BNV : কিন্তু তোমরা হয়তো বলতে পারো, “আমরা আমাদের প্রভু ঈশ্বরের ওপর সাহায্যের ব্যাপারে আস্থাশীল|” কিন্তু আমি জানি যেখানে লোকরা প্রভুর উপাসনা করত সেই সব বেদী এবং পবিত্র স্থানগুলিকে হিষ্কিয় ধ্বংস করেছে এবং হিষ্কিয় যিহূদা ও জেরুশালেমের লোকদের বলছে, “তোমাদের শুধুমাত্র জেরুশালেমের এই বেদীটিতে উপাসনা করা উচিত্‌|”
KJV : But if thou say to me, We trust in the LORD our God: [is it] not he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?
YLT : `And dost thou say unto me, Unto Jehovah our God we have trusted? is it not He, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath turned aside, and saith to Judah and to Jerusalem, Before this altar ye do bow yourselves?
RV : But if thou say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?
RSV : But if you say to me, "We rely on the LORD our God," is it not he whose high places and altars Hezekiah has removed, saying to Judah and to Jerusalem, "You shall worship before this altar"?
ASV : But if thou say unto me, We trust in Jehovah our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?
ESV : But if you say to me, "We trust in the LORD our God," is it not he whose high places and altars Hezekiah has removed, saying to Judah and to Jerusalem, "You shall worship before this altar"?
ERVEN : 'But maybe you will say, "We trust the Lord our God to help us." But I know that Hezekiah destroyed the altars and high places where people worshiped the Lord. Hezekiah told the people of Judah and Jerusalem, "You must worship only at this one altar here in Jerusalem."

BNV : যদি তোমরা এখনও যুদ্ধ করতে চাও তবে আমার মনিব অশূরদের সম্রাট তোমাদের সঙ্গে চুক্তিবদ্ধ হবেন| আমি প্রতিশ্রুতি করছি তোমরা যদি ঘোড়ায় চড়ার জন্য যথেষ্ট মানুষ জোগাড় করতে পার তবে আমি তোমাদের যুদ্ধের জন্য 2,000 ঘোড়া দেব|
KJV : Now therefore give pledges, I pray thee, to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.
YLT : `And now, negotiate, I pray thee, with my lord the king of Asshur, and I give to thee two thousand horses, if thou art able to put for thee riders on them.
RV : Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.

ERVEN : 'If you still want to fight, my master, the king of Assyria, will make this agreement with you. I promise that I will give you 2000 horses if you can find enough men to ride them into battle.

BNV : কিন্তু তবুও তোমরা আমার মনিবের নিথস্তরের কোন সেনানাযককেও পরাস্ত করতে পারবে না| তবু কেন তোমরা মিশরের রথসমূহ ও অশ্বারোহী সেনাবাহিনীর ওপর নির্ভর কর?
KJV : How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
YLT : And how dost thou turn back the face of one captain of the least of the servants of my lord, and dost trust for thee on Egypt, for chariot and for horsemen?
RV : How then canst thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master-s servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
RSV : How then can you repulse a single captain among the least of my master's servants, when you rely on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?

ERVEN : But even then, you couldn't beat even one of my master's lowest ranking officers. So why do you still depend on Egypt's chariots and horse soldiers?

BNV : এখন তোমরা কি মনে কর আমি প্রভুর সাহায্য ছাড়াই এই দেশ ধ্বংস করতে এসেছি? প্রভু আমাকে বলেছেন, “এই দেশটি আক্রমণ কর এবং এটাকে ধ্বংস কর|”
KJV : And am I now come up without the LORD against this land to destroy it? the LORD said unto me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.
YLT : And now, without Jehovah have I come up against this land to destroy it? Jehovah said unto me, Go up unto this land, and thou hast destroyed it.`
RV : And am I now come up without the LORD against this land to destroy it? The LORD said unto me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

ERVEN : 'Now, do you think I came to this country to destroy it without the Lord's help. No, the Lord said to me, "Go up against this country and destroy it!"'"

BNV : তখন ইলিয়াকীম, শিব্ন ও য়োযাহ সেনাপতিকে বলেন, “অনুগ্রহ করে আমাদের সঙ্গে অরামীয় ভাষায় কথা বলুন| আমরা এই ভাষা বুঝি| যিহূদার ভাষায় আমাদের সঙ্গে কথা বলবেন না, কারণ শহরের দেওয়ালের ওপর যে লোকরা বসে আছে তারা আপনার কথা শুনতে পাবে এবং বুঝতে পারবে|”
KJV : Then said Eliakim and Shebna and Joah unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, unto thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand [it:] and speak not to us in the Jews’ language, in the ears of the people that [are] on the wall.
YLT : And Eliakim saith -- and Shebna and Joah -- unto Rabshakeh, `Speak, we pray thee, unto thy servants [in] Aramaean, for we are understanding; and do not speak unto us [in] Jewish, in the ears of the people who [are] on the wall.`
RV : Then said Eliakim and Shebna and Joah unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, unto thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and speak not to us in the Jews- language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall.

ASV : Then said Eliakim and Shebna and Joah unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, unto thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and speak not to us in the Jews language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall.
ESV : Then Eliakim, Shebna, and Joah said to the Rabshakeh, "Please speak to your servants in Aramaic, for we understand it. Do not speak to us in the language of Judah within the hearing of the people who are on the wall."
ERVEN : Then Eliakim, Shebna, and Joah said to the commander, "Please, speak to us in Aramaic. We understand that language. Don't speak to us in the language of Judah. If you use our language, the people on the city walls will understand you."

BNV : কিন্তু সেনাপতি বলল, “আমার প্রভু শুধুমাত্র তোমাদের ও তোমাদের মনিবের সঙ্গে কথা বলতে পাঠান নি| আমার মনিব প্রাচীরে বসে থাকা লোকদের সঙ্গেও কথা বলতে নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন| ঐসব লোকদের জন্য যথেষ্ট খাদ্য ও জল থাকবে না| তোমাদের মতো, ওদেরও নিজেদের বর্য়্জ পদার্থ ও নিজেদের প্রস্রাব খেতে হবে|”
KJV : But Rabshakeh said, Hath my master sent me to thy master and to thee to speak these words? [hath he] not [sent me] to the men that sit upon the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?
YLT : And Rabshakeh saith, `Unto thy lord, and unto thee, hath my lord sent me to speak these words? is it not for the men -- those sitting on the wall to eat their own dung and to drink their own water with you?`
RV : But Rabshakeh said, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? {cf15i hath he} not {cf15i sent me} to the men that sit upon the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own water with you?
RSV : But the Rabshakeh said, "Has my master sent me to speak these words to your master and to you, and not to the men sitting on the wall, who are doomed with you to eat their own dung and drink their own urine?"
ASV : But Rabshakeh said, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men that sit upon the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own water with you?
ESV : But the Rabshakeh said, "Has my master sent me to speak these words to your master and to you, and not to the men sitting on the wall, who are doomed with you to eat their own dung and drink their own urine?"
ERVEN : But the commander said, "My master did not send me to speak only to you and your master. I was also sent to speak to those people sitting there on the wall. They will not have enough food or water either; they, too, will eat their own waste and drink their own urine like you! "

BNV : তখন সেনাপতি ইহুদী ভাষায় জোরে চেঁচিয়ে উঠল,
KJV : Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and said, Hear ye the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.
YLT : And Rabshakeh standeth and calleth with a great voice [in] Jewish, and saith, `Hear ye the words of the great king, the king of Asshur:
RV : Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews- language, and said, Hear ye the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.
RSV : Then the Rabshakeh stood and called out in a loud voice in the language of Judah: "Hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria!
ASV : Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews language, and said, Hear ye the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.
ESV : Then the Rabshakeh stood and called out in a loud voice in the language of Judah: "Hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria!
ERVEN : Then the commander shouted loudly in Hebrew,

BNV : “মহান রাজা, অশূরের রাজার বার্তা শোন:হিষ্কিয়কে তোমাদের ঠকাবার সুযোগ দিও না| আমার ক্ষমতা থেকে সে তোমাদের বাঁচাতে পারবে না|
KJV : Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you.
YLT : Thus said the king, Let not Hezekiah lift you up, for he is not able to deliver you;
RV : Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you; for he shall not be able to deliver you:
RSV : Thus says the king: `Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, for he will not be able to deliver you.
ASV : Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you; for he will not be able to deliver you:
ESV : Thus says the king: 'Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, for he will not be able to deliver you.
ERVEN : "Hear this message from the great king, the king of Assyria: 'Don't let Hezekiah fool you. He cannot save you from my power.

BNV : হিষ্কিয়ের কথা বিশ্বাস কর না| সে বলবে, ‘প্রভুর প্রতি আস্থাশীল হও! প্রভু আমাদের রক্ষা করবেন| প্রভু অশূরদের রাজাকে এই শহরকে পরাস্ত করতে দেবেন না|’ এসব কথা বিশ্বাস করবে না|
KJV : Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us: this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
YLT : and let not Hezekiah make you trust unto Jehovah, saying, Jehovah doth certainly deliver us, this city is not given into the hand of the king of Asshur.
RV : neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us; this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
RSV : Do not let Hezekiah make you rely on the LORD by saying, "The LORD will surely deliver us; this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria."
ASV : neither let Hezekiah make you trust in Jehovah, saying, Jehovah will surely deliver us; this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
ESV : Do not let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD by saying, "The LORD will surely deliver us. This city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria."
ERVEN : Don't believe Hezekiah when he says, "Trust in the Lord! The Lord will save us. He will not let the king of Assyria defeat the city."

BNV : তোমরা হিষ্কিয়ের ওসব কথা শুনো না| অশূর রাজার কথা শোন| অশূর রাজা বলেন, “আমাদের চুক্তি করা উচিত্‌| তোমরা শহরের বাইরে আমার কাছে এসো| তখন সব মানুষই ঘরে ফেরার জন্য মুক্ত হবে| প্রত্যেক মানুষ তার বাগান থেকে দ্রাক্ষা খাওয়ার বিষয়ে মুক্ত হবে| এবং প্রত্যেক মানুষই তার ডুমুর গাছ থেকে ডুমুর খেতে পারবে| প্রত্যেক মানুষ তার নিজের কুযো থেকে জল পান করতে পারবে|
KJV : Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make [an agreement] with me [by] a present, and come out to me: and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;
YLT : `Do not hearken unto Hezekiah, for thus said the king of Asshur, Make ye with me a blessing, and come out unto me, and eat ye each of his vine, and each of his fig-tree, and drink ye each the waters of his own well,
RV : Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern:
RSV : Do not listen to Hezekiah; for thus says the king of Assyria: Make your peace with me and come out to me; then every one of you will eat of his own vine, and every one of his own fig tree, and every one of you will drink the water of his own cistern;
ASV : Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig-tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;
ESV : Do not listen to Hezekiah. For thus says the king of Assyria: Make your peace with me and come out to me. Then each one of you will eat of his own vine, and each one of his own fig tree, and each one of you will drink the water of his own cistern,
ERVEN : 'Don't listen to Hezekiah. Listen to the king of Assyria. The king of Assyria says, "Do this favor for me; come out to me, and then everyone will be free to have grapes from their own vines, figs from their own trees, and water from their own well.

KJV : Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards.

KJV : [Beware] lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, The LORD will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

BNV : অন্য দেশসমূহের কোন দেবতা কি আমার হাত থেকে তাদের দেশ রক্ষা করেছে? না! প্রভু কি জেরুশালেমকে আমার হাত থেকে রক্ষা করতে পারেন? না!”

BNV : কিন্তু জেরুশালেমের লোকরা নীরব হয়ে থাকল যেহেতু রাজা হিষ্কিয় নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন সেহেতু তারা সেনাপতিকে কিছুই বলল না| কারণ রাজার আদেশ ছিল, “তাকে কিছু বোলো না|”

KJV : Then came Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, that [was] over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder, to Hezekiah with [their] clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.

ERVEN : Then the palace manager (Eliakim son of Hilkiah), the royal secretary (Shebna), and the record keeper (Joah son of Asaph) went to Hezekiah. Their clothes were torn to show they were upset. They told Hezekiah everything the Assyrian commander had said.
