BNV : পৌল বললেন, ‘ভায়েরা ও পিতৃতুল্য ব্যক্তিরা, এখন শুনুন আমি আপনাদের সামনে আত্মপক্ষ সমর্থন করছি!’
KJV : Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence [which I make] now unto you.
YLT : `Men, brethren, and fathers, hear my defence now unto you;` --
RV : Brethren and fathers, hear ye the defence which I now make unto you.
RSV : "Brethren and fathers, hear the defense which I now make before you."
ASV : Brethren and fathers, hear ye the defence which I now make unto you.
ESV : "Brothers and fathers, hear the defense that I now make before you."
ERVEN : Paul said, "My brothers and fathers, listen to me! I will make my defense to you."

BNV : ইহুদীরা যখন পৌলকে ইহুদীদের প্রচলিত ইব্রীয় ভাষায় কথা বলতে শুনল, তারা শান্ত হল৷ তখন তিনি বললেন,
KJV : (And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,)
YLT : and they having heard that in the Hebrew dialect he was speaking to them, gave the more silence, and he saith, --

ERVEN : When the Jews heard Paul speaking Aramaic, they became very quiet. Then Paul said,

BNV : ‘আমি একজন ইহুদী, আমি কিলিকিয়ার তার্ষের শহরে জন্মেছি; কিন্তু এই শহরে আমি বড় হয়ে উঠেছি৷ গমলীয়েলেরচরণে বসে আমি আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের দেওয়া বিধি-ব্যবস্থা শিক্ষালাভ করেছি৷ আজ আপনারা সকলে য়েমন, তেমনি আমিও ঈশ্বরের সেবার জন্য উদ্যোগী ছিলাম৷
KJV : I am verily a man [which am] a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, [and] taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.
YLT : `I, indeed, am a man, a Jew, having been born in Tarsus of Cilicia, and brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, having been taught according to the exactitude of a law of the fathers, being zealous of God, as all ye are to-day.
RV : I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city, at the feet of Gamaliel, instructed according to the strict manner of the law of our fathers, being zealous for God, even as ye all are this day:
RSV : "I am a Jew, born at Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, educated according to the strict manner of the law of our fathers, being zealous for God as you all are this day.

ESV : "I am a Jew, born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city, educated at the feet of Gamaliel according to the strict manner of the law of our fathers, being zealous for God as all of you are this day.
ERVEN : "I am a Jew, born in Tarsus in the country of Cilicia. I grew up in this city. I was a student of Gamaliel, who carefully taught me everything about the law of our fathers. I was very serious about serving God, the same as all of you here today.

BNV : খ্রীষ্টের পথে যাঁরা চলত তাদের আমি নির্যাতন করতাম, এমনকি কারো কারো মৃত্যু ঘটিয়েছিলাম৷ স্ত্রী, পুরুষ সকলকেই আমি গ্রেপ্তার করে কারাগারে রাখতাম৷
KJV : And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.
YLT : `And this way I persecuted unto death, binding and delivering up to prisons both men and women,
RV : and I persecuted this Way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.
RSV : I persecuted this Way to the death, binding and delivering to prison both men and women,

ERVEN : I persecuted the people who followed the Way. Some of them were killed because of me. I arrested men and women and put them in jail.

BNV : মহাযাজক ও ইহুদী সমাজপতিরা সকলে এই কথার সত্যতা প্রমাণ দিতে পারেন৷ তাদের কাছ থেকে চিঠি নিয়ে ইহুদী ভাইদের কাছে যাবার জন্য আমি দম্মেশকের পথে রওনা দিয়েছিলাম৷ যীশুর অনুগামী যাঁরা সেখানে ছিল তাদের গ্রেপ্তার করে জেরুশালেমে আনবার জন্য গিয়েছিলাম, য়েন তাদের শাস্তি দেওয়া হয়৷
KJV : As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.
YLT : as also the chief priest doth testify to me, and all the eldership; from whom also having received letters unto the brethren, to Damascus, I was going on, to bring also those there bound to Jerusalem that they might be punished,
RV : As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and journeyed to Damascus, to bring them also which were there unto Jerusalem in bonds, for to be punished.
RSV : as the high priest and the whole council of elders bear me witness. From them I received letters to the brethren, and I journeyed to Damascus to take those also who were there and bring them in bonds to Jerusalem to be punished.
ASV : As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and journeyed to Damascus to bring them also that were there unto Jerusalem in bonds to be punished.
ESV : as the high priest and the whole council of elders can bear me witness. From them I received letters to the brothers, and I journeyed toward Damascus to take those also who were there and bring them in bonds to Jerusalem to be punished.
ERVEN : "The high priest and the whole council of older Jewish leaders can tell you that this is true. One time these leaders gave me some letters. The letters were to the Jewish brothers in the city of Damascus. I was going there to arrest the followers of Jesus and bring them back to Jerusalem for punishment.

BNV : ‘আর এইরকম ঘটল, আমি চলতে চলতে দম্মেশকের কাছাকাছি এলে, দুপুর বেলা হঠাত্ আকাশ থেকে তীব্র আলোর ছটা আমার চারদিকে ছেয়ে গেল৷
KJV : And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.
YLT : and it came to pass, in my going on and coming nigh to Damascus, about noon, suddenly out of the heaven there shone a great light round about me,

ERVEN : "But something happened to me on my way to Damascus. It was about noon when I came close to Damascus. Suddenly a bright light from heaven shined all around me.

BNV : আমি মাটিতে পড়ে গেলাম আর এক রব শুনলাম, ‘পৌল, পৌল তুমি কেন আমায় নির্য়াতন করছ?’
KJV : And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, {SCJ}Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? {SCJ.}
YLT : I fell also to the ground, and I heard a voice saying to me, Saul, Saul, why me dost thou persecute?
RV : And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

BNV : আমি বললাম, ‘প্রভু, আপনি কে?’ তিনি আমায় বললেন, ‘যাকে তুমি নির্য়াতন করছ, আমি সেই নাসরতীয় যীশু৷’
KJV : And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, {SCJ}I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest. {SCJ.}
YLT : `And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? and he said unto me, I am Jesus the Nazarene whom thou dost persecute --
RV : And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.
RSV : And I answered, `Who are you, Lord?' And he said to me, `I am Jesus of Nazareth whom you are persecuting.'

ERVEN : "I asked, 'Who are you, Lord?' The voice said, 'I am Jesus from Nazareth, the one you are persecuting.'

BNV : যাঁরা আমার সঙ্গে ছিল তারা সেই আলো দেখতে পেয়েছিল, কিন্তু যিনি আমার সঙ্গে কথা বলছিলেন, তাঁর রব তারা শুনতে পায় নি৷
KJV : And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.
YLT : and they who are with me the light did see, and became afraid, and the voice they heard not of him who is speaking to me --
RV : And they that were with me beheld indeed the light, but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.
RSV : Now those who were with me saw the light but did not hear the voice of the one who was speaking to me.

ERVEN : The men who were with me did not understand the voice, but they saw the light.

BNV : আমি বললাম, ‘প্রভু আমায় কি করতে হবে?’ প্রভু আমায় বললেন, ‘ওঠ, দম্মেশকে যাও৷ য়ে কাজের জন্য তোমাকে মনোনীত করা হয়েছে তা সেখানেই তোমাকে বলা হবে৷’
KJV : And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, {SCJ}Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do. {SCJ.}
YLT : and I said, What shall I do, Lord? and the Lord said unto me, Having risen, go on to Damascus, and there it shall be told thee concerning all things that have been appointed for thee to do.
RV : And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.
RSV : And I said, `What shall I do, Lord?' And the Lord said to me, `Rise, and go into Damascus, and there you will be told all that is appointed for you to do.'

ERVEN : "I said, 'What shall I do, Lord?' The Lord answered, 'Get up and go into Damascus. There you will be told all that I have planned for you to do.'

BNV : সেই তীব্র আলোর ঝলকে আমি অন্ধ হয়ে গেছিলাম৷ তাই আমার সঙ্গীরা আমার হাত ধরে দম্মেশকে নিয়ে গেল৷
KJV : And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.
YLT : `And when I did not see from the glory of that light, being led by the hand by those who are with me, I came to Damascus,
RV : And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.
RSV : And when I could not see because of the brightness of that light, I was led by the hand by those who were with me, and came into Damascus.

ERVEN : I could not see, because the bright light had made me blind. So the men led me into Damascus.

BNV : ‘সেখানে অননিয় নামে একজন ধার্মিক ব্যক্তি ছিলেন৷ তিনি মোশির বিধি-ব্যবস্থা পালন করতেন৷ সেখানকার ইহুদীদের মধ্যে তাঁর সুনাম ছিল৷
KJV : And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt [there, ]
YLT : and a certain one, Ananias, a pious man according to the law, being testified to by all the Jews dwelling [there],

ERVEN : "In Damascus a man named Ananias came to me. He was a man who was devoted to God and obeyed the Law of Moses. All the Jews who lived there respected him.

BNV : তিনি আমার কাছে এসে আমার পাশে দাঁড়িয়ে বললেন, ‘ভাই শৌল, তুমি দৃষ্টিশক্তি লাভ কর৷’ আর সেই মুহূর্তে আমি তাঁকে দেখতে পেলাম৷
KJV : Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.
YLT : having come unto me and stood by [me], said to me, Saul, brother, look up; and I the same hour did look up to him;
RV : came unto me, and standing by me said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And in that very hour I looked up on him.
RSV : came to me, and standing by me said to me, `Brother Saul, receive your sight.' And in that very hour I received my sight and saw him.

BNV : তিনি বললেন, ‘আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের ঈশ্বর তোমায় বহুপূর্বেই মনোনীত করেছেন, য়েন তুমি তাঁর পরিকল্পনা জানতে পার এবং সেই ধার্মিকজনকে দেখতে পাও ও তাঁর রব শুনতে পাও৷
KJV : And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
YLT : and he said, The God of our fathers did choose thee beforehand to know His will, and to see the Righteous One, and to hear a voice out of his mouth,
RV : And he said, The God of our fathers hath appointed thee to know his will, and to see the Righteous One, and to hear a voice from his mouth.
RSV : And he said, `The God of our fathers appointed you to know his will, to see the Just One and to hear a voice from his mouth;

ERVEN : "Ananias told me, 'The God of our fathers chose you long ago to know his plan. He chose you to see the Righteous One and to hear words from him.

BNV : তুমি যা দেখলে ও শুনলে সকল লোকের কাছে সে বিষয়ে সাক্ষ্য দেবে৷
KJV : For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
YLT : because thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard;
RV : For thou shalt be a witness for him unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
RSV : for you will be a witness for him to all men of what you have seen and heard.

BNV : এখন আর দেরী না করে ওঠ, বাপ্তিস্ম নাও আর তোমার পাপ ধুয়ে ফেল৷ উদ্ধার লাভের জন্য যীশুতে বিশ্বাস কর৷’
KJV : And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
YLT : and now, why tarriest thou? having risen, baptize thyself, and wash away thy sins, calling upon the name of the Lord.

BNV : ‘পরে আমি জেরুশালেমে ফিরে এসে যখন মন্দিরের চত্বরে প্রার্থনা করছিলাম, সেই সময় এক দর্শন পেলাম৷
KJV : And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance;
YLT : `And it came to pass when I returned to Jerusalem, and while I was praying in the temple, I came into a trance,
RV : And it came to pass, that, when I had returned to Jerusalem, and while I prayed in the temple, I fell into a trance,

BNV : দর্শনে দেখলাম যীশু আমায় বলছেন, ‘শিগ্গির ওঠ! এখুনি জেরুশালেম থেকে চলে যাও! কারণ আমার বিষয়ে তুমি য়ে সাক্ষ্য দিচ্ছ, তারা তা গ্রহণ করবে না৷’
KJV : And saw him saying unto me, {SCJ}Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me. {SCJ.}
YLT : and I saw him saying to me, Haste and go forth in haste out of Jerusalem, because they will not receive thy testimony concerning me;
RV : and saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: because they will not receive of thee testimony concerning me.
RSV : and saw him saying to me, `Make haste and get quickly out of Jerusalem, because they will not accept your testimony about me.'

ERVEN : I saw Jesus, and he said to me, 'Hurry and leave Jerusalem now! The people here will not accept the truth you tell them about me.'

BNV : আমি বললাম, ‘প্রভু, তারা তো ভাল করেই জানে য়ে যাঁরা তোমায় বিশ্বাস করে, তাদের গ্রেপ্তার করে মারধর করার জন্য আমি সমাজ-গৃহগুলিতে য়েতাম৷
KJV : And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee:
YLT : and I said, Lord, they -- they know that I was imprisoning and was scourging in every synagogue those believing on thee;
RV : And I said, Lord, they themselves know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee:
RSV : And I said, `Lord, they themselves know that in every synagogue I imprisoned and beat those who believed in thee.
ASV : And I said, Lord, they themselves know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee:
ESV : And I said, 'Lord, they themselves know that in one synagogue after another I imprisoned and beat those who believed in you.
ERVEN : "I said, 'But, Lord, the people know that I was the one who put the believers in jail and beat them. I went through all the synagogues to find and arrest the people who believe in you.

BNV : যখন তোমার সাক্ষী স্তিফানের রক্তপাত হচ্ছিল, তখন আমি সেখানে দাঁড়িয়ে থেকে তার অনুমোদন করেছিলাম, আর যাঁরা তাকে মারছিল তাদের পোশাক আগলাচ্ছিলাম৷’
KJV : And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.
YLT : and when the blood of thy witness Stephen was being poured forth, I also was standing by and assenting to his death, and keeping the garments of those putting him to death;
RV : and when the blood of Stephen thy witness was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting, and keeping the garments of them that slew him.
RSV : And when the blood of Stephen thy witness was shed, I also was standing by and approving, and keeping the garments of those who killed him.'

ESV : And when the blood of Stephen your witness was being shed, I myself was standing by and approving and watching over the garments of those who killed him.'
ERVEN : The people also know that I was there when Stephen, your witness, was killed. I stood there and agreed that they should kill him. I even held the coats of the men who were killing him!'

BNV : তখন যীশু আমায় বললেন, ‘এখন যাও! আমি তোমাকে বহুদূরে অইহুদীদের কাছে পাঠাচ্ছি৷”
KJV : And he said unto me, {SCJ}Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles. {SCJ.}
YLT : and he said unto me, Go, because to nations far off I will send thee.`
RV : And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee forth far hence unto the Gentiles.
RSV : And he said to me, `Depart; for I will send you far away to the Gentiles.'"
ASV : And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee forth far hence unto the Gentiles.

ERVEN : "But Jesus said to me, 'Leave now. I will send you far away to the non-Jewish people.'"

BNV : পৌল অইহুদীদের কাছে যাওয়ার কথা বললে লোকেরা তা আর শুনতে চাইল না৷ ইহুদীরা সকলে জোরে চিত্‌কার করে উঠল, ‘মার বেটাকে! একে পৃথিবী থেকে সরিয়ে দাও! এ বেঁচে থাকার অয়োগ্য!’
KJV : And they gave him audience unto this word, and [then] lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a [fellow] from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.
YLT : And they were hearing him unto this word, and they lifted up their voice, saying, `Away from the earth with such an one; for it is not fit for him to live.`
RV : And they gave him audience unto this word; and they lifted up their voice, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.
RSV : Up to this word they listened to him; then they lifted up their voices and said, "Away with such a fellow from the earth! For he ought not to live."

ERVEN : The people stopped listening when Paul said this last thing. They all shouted, "Get rid of this man! He doesn't deserve to live."

BNV : তারা যখন এভাবে চিত্‌কার করছে ও তাদের পোশাক খুলে ছুঁড়ে ফেলে বাতাসে ধুলো ওড়াচ্ছে,
KJV : And as they cried out, and cast off [their] clothes, and threw dust into the air,
YLT : And they crying out and casting up their garments, and throwing dust into the air,
RV : And as they cried out, and threw off their garments, and cast dust into the air,

ASV : And as they cried out, and threw off their garments, and cast dust into the air,

BNV : তখন সেই সেনাপতি পৌলকে দুর্গের মধ্যে নিয়ে য়েতে হুকুম দিয়ে বললেন, ‘একে চাবুক মেরে দেখ এ কি বলে, লোকেরা কেন এর বিরুদ্ধে এমনি করে চিত্‌কার করছে!’
KJV : The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, and bade that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know wherefore they cried so against him.

BNV : সৈনিকরা যখন পৌলকে চাবুক মারার জন্য বাঁধছে তখন য়ে সেনাপতি সেখানে দাঁড়িয়েছিল পৌল তাকে বললেন, ‘একজন রোমান নাগরিকের বিচার না করে তার কোন দোষ না পেলেও তাকে চাবুক মারা কি আইনসম্মত কাজ হবে?’
KJV : And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned?

ERVEN : So the soldiers were tying Paul, preparing to beat him. But he said to an army officer there, "Do you have the right to beat a Roman citizen who has not been proven guilty?"

BNV : এই কথা শুনে সেই সেনাপতি তার ওপরওয়ালার কাছে গিয়ে বলল, ‘আপনি জানেন আপনি কি করতে যাচ্ছেন? এ লোকটা তো একজন রোমান৷’
KJV : When the centurion heard [that,] he went and told the chief captain, saying, Take heed what thou doest: for this man is a Roman.
YLT : and the centurion having heard, having gone near to the chief captain, told, saying, `Take heed what thou art about to do, for this man is a Roman;`
RV : And when the centurion heard it, he went to the chief captain, and told him, saying, What art thou about to do? for this man is a Roman.

KJV : Then the chief captain came, and said unto him, Tell me, art thou a Roman? He said, Yea.
YLT : and the chief captain having come near, said to him, `Tell me, art thou a Roman?` and he said, `Yes;`

KJV : And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was [free] born.
YLT : and the chief captain answered, `I, with a great sum, did obtain this citizenship;` but Paul said, `But I have been even born [so].`
RV : And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this citizenship. And Paul said, But I am {cf15i a Roman} born.
RSV : The tribune answered, "I bought this citizenship for a large sum." Paul said, "But I was born a citizen."

ERVEN : The commander said, "I paid a lot of money to become a Roman citizen." But Paul said, "I was born a citizen."

BNV : যাঁরা তাকে প্রশ্ন করার জন্য প্রস্তুত হয়েছিল তারা এই কথা শুনে পিছিয়ে গেল৷ সেনাপতিও ভয় পেয়ে গেল যখন বুঝতে পারল য়ে পৌল একজন রোমান নাগরিক, আর সে তাঁকে বেঁধেছে৷

BNV : পরদিন ইহুদীরা কেন পৌলের ওপর দোষ দিচ্ছে তা জানবার জন্য রোমান সেনাপতি ইহুদীদের প্রধান যাজকদের ও মহাসভার সকল সভ্যকে জড়ো হতে হুকুম দিল; আর পৌলকে সেখানে তাদের মাঝে মুক্ত অবস্থায় হাজির করল৷
KJV : On the morrow, because he would have known the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from [his] bands, and commanded the chief priests and all their council to appear, and brought Paul down, and set him before them.

ERVEN : The next day the commander decided to learn why the Jews were accusing Paul. So he ordered the leading priests and the whole high council to meet together. He had Paul's chains taken off and had him brought in to face the council.
