সুতরাং রাজা সিদিকিয় আদেশ দিয়েছিলেন য়ে, এবার থেকে যিরমিয়কে প্রহসুর পাহারায় মন্দির় চত্বরে বন্দী হয়ে থাকতে হবে এবং রাজার আদেশ ছিল যিরমিয়কে রুটি দেওয়া হবে রাস্তার হকারদের কাছ থেকে| শহরে যতদিন পর্য়ন্ত রুটি পাওয়া যাবে ততদিন পর্য়ন্ত যিরমিয়কে রুটি দেওয়া হবে| তাই যিরমিয়কে উঠোনে রক্ষীর অধীনে রাখা হয়েছিল|

Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers street, until all the bread in the city were spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
