ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾವೀದನು ಬಹುರೀಮಿನ ವರೆಗೂ ಬಂದಾಗ ಇಗೋ, ಸೌಲನ ಗೋತ್ರದವನಾದಂಥ ಗೇರನ ಮಗನಾದ ಶಿಮ್ಮಿಯೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಳ್ಳ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ದೂಷಿಸುತ್ತಾ ನಡೆದು ಬಂದನು.

And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name [was] Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came.
