అ మరునాటి ఉదయం సౌలు తన సైన్యాన్ని మూడు గుంపులుగా విభజించాడు. సూర్యోదయానికి సౌలు సైన్యం అమ్మోనీయుల శిబిరాన్ని చేరింది. అమ్మోనీయుల గస్తీ తిరిగే జట్టు మారుతున్నప్పుడు సౌలు వారిమీద దాడి చేసాడు. సౌలు, అతని సైనికులు అమ్మోనీయులను ఓడించారు. చావగా మిగిలిన అమ్మో నీయులు చెల్లాచెదురై పోయారు. ఏ ఇద్దరూ కూడ కలిసి ఉండే అవకాశం వారికి లేకుండా పోయింది.

ಮಾರನೆಯ ದಿನ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಸೌಲನು ತನ್ನ ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮೂರು ಗುಂಪುಗಳಾಗಿ ವಿಂಗಡಿಸಿದನು. ಸೌಲನು ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ಸೈನಿಕರು ಬೆಳಗಿನ ಜಾವದಲ್ಲೇ ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರ ಶಿಬಿರದೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿದರು. ಅವರು ಆ ದಿನ ಬೆಳಗಿನ ಜಾವ ಶಿಬಿರ ರಕ್ಷಕರನ್ನು ಬದಲಾಯಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆಯೇ ಸೌಲನು ಆಕ್ರಮಣ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಸೌಲನು ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ಸೈನಿಕರು ನಡುಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನದೊಳಗೆ ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರನ್ನು ಸೋಲಿಸಿದರು. ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯ ಸೈನಿಕರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ದಿಕ್ಕುಪಾಲಾಗಿ ಓಡಿಹೋದರು; ಅವರು ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಸೇರಿಬರಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.

दुसऱ्या दिवशी सकाळी शौलने आपल्या सैन्याची तीन गटात विभागणी केली. त्यांच्यासह शौलने दिवस उजाडताच अम्मोन्यांच्या छावणीत प्रवेश केला. पहारा बदलत असताना त्यांच्यावर हल्ला केला. दुपार व्हायच्या आधीच अम्मोन्यांचा त्यांनी पराभव केला. अम्मोनी सैन्याची दाणादाण उडाली. ते वाट सापडेल तिकडे पळत सुटले. प्रत्येक जण वेगळ्या दिशेला गेला. कोणी दोन सैनिक एका ठिकाणी नव्हते.
