শৌল তাঁর লোকদের নিয়ে দাযূদের খোঁজ করতে লাগলেন| কিন্তু এখানে লোকরা দায়ূদকে সাবধান করে দিল যে শৌল তাঁকে খুঁজছে| দায়ূদ যখন এটা শুনলেন তিনি মাযোন মরুভূমির ‘রক’ অঞ্চলে চলে গেলেন| এ খবর শৌলের কাছে পৌঁছে গেল| সেখানে দায়ূদকে ধরতে ছুটলেন|

Saul also and his men went to seek [him.] And they told David: wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard [that,] he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.
