BNV : আবার ইস্রায়েলবাসীরা পাপ কর্মে মেতে উঠল| তাই সাত বছর ধরে প্রভু মিদিয়নদের সহায় হয়ে রইলেন যাতে তারা ইস্রায়েলীয়দের দমিযে রাখতে পারে|
KJV : And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.
YLT : And the sons of Israel do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and Jehovah giveth them into the hand of Midian seven years,
RV : And the children of Israel did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.
RSV : The people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD gave them into the hand of Midian seven years.
ASV : And the children of Israel did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah: and Jehovah delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.
ESV : The people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, and the LORD gave them into the hand of Midian seven years.
ERVEN : Again the Israelites did what the Lord said was wrong. So for seven years the Lord allowed the Midianites to defeat the Israelites.

BNV : মিদিয়ন সম্প্রদাযের লোকরা ছিল ভীষণ শক্তিশালী| ইস্রায়েলবাসীদের ওপর তারা বেশ অত্যাচার করত| তাই ইস্রায়েলীয়রা পর্বতের নানা গোপন জায়গায় লুকিয়ে থাকত| সেখানেই খাবার দাবার লুকিয়ে রাখত| সেসব জায়গা খুঁজে পাওয়া খুব শক্ত ছিল|
KJV : And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: [and] because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them the dens which [are] in the mountains, and caves, and strong holds.
YLT : and the hand of Midian is strong against Israel, from the presence of Midian have the sons of Israel made for themselves the flowings which [are] in the mountains, and the caves, and the strongholds.
RV : And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: and because of Midian the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and the caves, and the strong holds.
RSV : And the hand of Midian prevailed over Israel; and because of Midian the people of Israel made for themselves the dens which are in the mountains, and the caves and the strongholds.
ASV : And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel; and because of Midian the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and the caves, and the strongholds.
ESV : And the hand of Midian overpowered Israel, and because of Midian the people of Israel made for themselves the dens that are in the mountains and the caves and the strongholds.
ERVEN : The Midianites were very powerful and were cruel to the Israelites. So the Israelites made many hiding places in the mountains. They hid their food in caves and places that were hard to find.

BNV : তারা যে এরকম সাবধান হয়ে গিয়েছিল তার কারণ মিদিয়নীয় এবং অমালেকীয় সম্প্রদাযের লোকরা পূর্বদেশ থেকে সবসময় আক্রমণ করতো এবং তাদের ফসল নষ্ট করতো|
KJV : And [so] it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them;
YLT : And it hath been, if Israel hath sowed, that Midian hath come up, and Amalek, and the sons of the east, yea, they have come up against him,
RV : And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east; they came up against them;
RSV : For whenever the Israelites put in seed the Midianites and the Amalekites and the people of the East would come up and attack them;

ESV : For whenever the Israelites planted crops, the Midianites and the Amalekites and the people of the East would come up against them.
ERVEN : They did that because the Midianites and Amalekites from the east always came and destroyed their crops.

BNV : আক্রমণকারীরা ইস্রায়েলীয়দের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ শিবির গেড়েছিল| তারা অনেক দূরে ঘসা শহর পর্য়ন্ত ইস্রায়েলীয়দের সমস্ত শস্য নষ্ট করে দিয়েছিল| তারা ইস্রায়েলীয়দের খাবার মতো কিছুই অবশিষ্ট রাখল না| তারা তাদের মেষ, গরু, গাধা এসবও কেড়ে নিয়ে গিয়েছিল|
KJV : And they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza, and left no sustenance for Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass.
YLT : and encamp against them, and destroy the increase of the land till thine entering Gaza; and they leave no sustenance in Israel, either sheep, or ox, or ass;
RV : and they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza, and left no sustenance in Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass.
RSV : they would encamp against them and destroy the produce of the land, as far as the neighborhood of Gaza, and leave no sustenance in Israel, and no sheep or ox or ass.
ASV : and they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza, and left no sustenance in Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass.
ESV : They would encamp against them and devour the produce of the land, as far as Gaza, and leave no sustenance in Israel and no sheep or ox or donkey.
ERVEN : They camped in the land and destroyed the crops that the Israelites had planted. They ruined the crops of the Israelites as far as the land near the city of Gaza. They did not leave anything for the Israelites to eat. They did not even leave them any sheep, cattle, or donkeys.

BNV : মিদিযনী়রা ওদের দেশে তাঁবু গেড়েছিল এবং সঙ্গে এনেছিল পরিবারের লোকজন, জীবজন্তু| পঙ্গপালের ঝাঁকের মতো অগুনতি মানুষ তারা এবং তাদের আনা উটের সংখ্যা গোণা অসম্ভব ছিল| দেশটাকে ওরা একেবারে ছারখার করে দিল|
KJV : For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; [for] both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it.
YLT : for they and their cattle come up, with their tents; they come in as the fulness of the locust for multitude, and of them and of their cattle there is no number, and they come into the land to destroy it.

ERVEN : The Midianites came with their families, animals, and tents. They were like a swarm of locusts! They and their camels were too many to count. They came into the land and ruined it.

BNV : মিদিযনী়দের অত্যাচারে ইস্রায়েলীয়রা একেবারে নিঃস্ব হয়ে গেল| তাই তারা প্রভুর দয়া পাবার জন্যে কেঁদে আকুল হয়ে উঠল|
KJV : And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the LORD.
YLT : And Israel is very weak from the presence of Midian, and the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah.
RV : And Israel was brought very low because of Midian; and the children of Israel cried unto the LORD.
RSV : And Israel was brought very low because of Midian; and the people of Israel cried for help to the LORD.

ERVEN : The Israelites became very poor because of the Midianites. So the Israelites cried to the Lord for help.

BNV : মিদিযনের লোকরা অত্যাচারে মেতে উঠেছিল| সেই জন্যে ইস্রায়েলীয়রা প্রভুর কৃপার জন্যে কেঁদে আকুল হয়ে উঠল|
KJV : And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD because of the Midianites,
YLT : And it cometh to pass when the sons of Israel have cried unto Jehovah, concerning Midian,
RV : And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD because of Midian,
RSV : When the people of Israel cried to the LORD on account of the Midianites,

ESV : When the people of Israel cried out to the LORD on account of the Midianites,
ERVEN : The Midianites did all these bad things, so the Israelites cried to the Lord for help.

BNV : তাই প্রভু তাদের কাছে একজন ভাববাদীকে পাঠালেন| ভাববাদী ইস্রায়েলবাসীদের বললেন, “প্রভু, ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর কি বলেন তা শোন| তিনি বলেছেন, ‘মিশরে তোমরা ক্রীতদাস ছিলে| আমি তোমাদের মুক্ত করে সেই দেশ থেকে নিয়ে এসেছি|
KJV : That the LORD sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage;
YLT : that Jehovah sendeth a man, a prophet, unto the sons of Israel, and he saith to them, `Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, I -- I have brought you up out of Egypt, and I bring you out from a house of servants,
RV : that the LORD sent a prophet unto the children of Israel: and he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage;

ESV : the LORD sent a prophet to the people of Israel. And he said to them, "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: I led you up from Egypt and brought you out of the house of bondage.
ERVEN : The Lord sent a prophet to them. He said, "This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: 'You were slaves in the land of Egypt. I made you free and brought you out of that land.

BNV : আমি তোমাদের মিশরের এবং যারা তোমাদের নির্য়াতন করেছে, তাদের সকলের হাত থেকে রক্ষা করেছি| আমি আবার সেই লোকদের তাড়িয়ে বের করে দিয়েছি এবং তাদের দেশ তোমাদের দিয়েছি|’
KJV : And I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and drave them out from before you, and gave you their land;
YLT : and I deliver you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all your oppressors, and I cast them out from your presence, and I give to you their land,

BNV : তারপর আমি তোমাদের বলেছিলাম, ‘আমি তোমাদের প্রভু ঈশ্বর| তোমরা ইমোরীয়দের দেশে বসবাস করবে বটে, কিন্তু কখনই তোমরা তাদের মূর্ত্তির পূজা করবে না| কিন্তু তোমরা আমার কথা শোনো নি|”
KJV : And I said unto you, I [am] the LORD your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but ye have not obeyed my voice.
YLT : and I say to you, I [am] Jehovah your God, ye do not fear the gods of the Amorite in whose land ye are dwelling: -- and ye have not hearkened to My voice.`
RV : and I said unto you, I am the LORD your God; ye shall not fear the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but ye have not hearkened unto my voice.
RSV : and I said to you, `I am the LORD your God; you shall not pay reverence to the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell.' But you have not given heed to my voice."
ASV : and I said unto you, I am Jehovah your God; ye shall not fear the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell. But ye have not hearkened unto my voice.
ESV : And I said to you, 'I am the LORD your God; you shall not fear the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell.' But you have not obeyed my voice."
ERVEN : Then I said to you, 'I am the Lord your God. You will live in the land of the Amorites, but you must not worship their false gods.' But you did not obey me."

BNV : সেই সময়, প্রভুর দূত একজন লোকর কাছে এলেন| তার নাম ছিল গিদিয়োন| প্রভুর দূত অফ্রা নামক একটি জায়গায় একটি ওক গাছের নীচে বসলেন| ওক গাছটা ছিল য়োয়াশ নামে একজন লোকর| য়োয়াশ, গিদিয়োনের পিতা, অবীযেষ্রীয বংশের লোক ছিলেন| গিদিয়োন একটি দ্রাক্ষা মাড়াবার জায়গায় কিছু গম মাড়াই করছিলেন| প্রভুর দূত গিদিয়োনের কাছে বসলেন| গিদিয়োন লুকিয়েছিলেন যাতে মিদিয়নরা তাঁকে দেখতে না পায়|
KJV : And there came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak which [was] in Ophrah, that [pertained] unto Joash the Abi-ezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide [it] from the Midianites.
YLT : And the messenger of Jehovah cometh and sitteth under the oak which [is] in Ophrah, which [is] to Joash the Abi-Ezrite, and Gideon his son is beating out wheat in the wine-press, to remove [it] from the presence of the Midianites;
RV : And the angel of the LORD came and sat under the oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abiezrite: and his son Gideon was beating out wheat in the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.
RSV : Now the angel of the LORD came and sat under the oak at Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, as his son Gideon was beating out wheat in the wine press, to hide it from the Midianites.
ASV : And the angel of Jehovah came, and sat under the oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abiezrite: and his son Gideon was beating out wheat in the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.
ESV : Now the angel of the LORD came and sat under the terebinth at Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon was beating out wheat in the winepress to hide it from the Midianites.
ERVEN : At that time the Angel of the Lord came to a man named Gideon. The Angel of the Lord came and sat down under an oak tree at a place called Ophrah. This oak tree belonged to a man named Joash. Joash was from the Abiezer family. He was the father of Gideon. Gideon was beating some wheat in a winepress. He was hiding so that the Midianites could not see the wheat. The Angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon and sat down next to him. The angel greeted him, saying, "The Lord be with you, brave soldier."

BNV : প্রভুর দূত গিদিয়োনের সামনে দেখা দিয়ে তাকে বললেন, “হে মহাসৈনিক প্রভু তোমার সহায়!”
KJV : And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD [is] with thee, thou mighty man of valour.
YLT : and the messenger of Jehovah appeareth unto him, and saith unto him, `Jehovah [is] with thee, O mighty one of valour.`
RV : And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.

BNV : গিদিয়োন বললেন, “মহাশয় আপনাকে একটা কথা বলব| প্রভু যদি সত্যিই আমাদের সহায়, তাহলে এত দুঃখ কষ্ট কেন? আমি শুনেছি আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের জন্য তিনি অনেক আশ্চর্য়্য় কাজ করেছিলেন| তাঁরা বলেছিলেন যে প্রভু তাঁদের মিশর থেকে সরিয়ে এনেছিলেন| কিন্তু তিনি আমাদের ছেড়ে চলে গেছেন| কেবলমাত্র প্রভুর জন্যই মিদিয়নরা আমাদের পরাজিত করতে পেরেছে|”
KJV : And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where [be] all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.
YLT : And Gideon saith unto him, `O, my lord -- and Jehovah is with us! -- and why hath all this found us? and where [are] all His wonders which our fathers recounted to us, saying, Hath not Jehovah brought us up out of Egypt? and now Jehovah hath left us, and doth give us into the hand of Midian.`
RV : And Gideon said unto him, Oh my lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his wondrous works which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath cast us off, and delivered us into the hand of Midian.
RSV : And Gideon said to him, "Pray, sir, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this befallen us? And where are all his wonderful deeds which our fathers recounted to us, saying, `Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?' But now the LORD has cast us off, and given us into the hand of Midian."
ASV : And Gideon said unto him, Oh, my lord, if Jehovah is with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where are all his wondrous works which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not Jehovah bring us up from Egypt? but now Jehovah hath cast us off, and delivered us into the hand of Midian.
ESV : And Gideon said to him, "Please, sir, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all his wonderful deeds that our fathers recounted to us, saying, 'Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?' But now the LORD has forsaken us and given us into the hand of Midian."
ERVEN : Then Gideon said, "Pardon me, sir, but if the Lord is with us, sir, why are we having so many troubles? We heard that he did wonderful things for our ancestors. They tell us the Lord took them out of Egypt. But now it seems he has left us and is letting the Midianites defeat us."

BNV : প্রভু গিদিয়োনের দিকে ফিরে বললেন, “তোমার নিজের শক্তিকে কাজে লাগাও| যাও, মিদিযনের হাত থেকে ইস্রায়েলবাসীদের রক্ষা করো| এ কাজে আমি তোমাকেই পাঠাচ্ছি|”
KJV : And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?
YLT : And Jehovah turneth unto him and saith, `Go in this -- thy power; and thou hast saved Israel out of the hand of Midian -- have not I sent thee.`
RV : And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and save Israel from the hand of Midian: have not I sent thee?
RSV : And the LORD turned to him and said, "Go in this might of yours and deliver Israel from the hand of Midian; do not I send you?"
ASV : And Jehovah looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and save Israel from the hand of Midian: have not I sent thee?
ESV : And the LORD turned to him and said, "Go in this might of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian; do not I send you?"
ERVEN : The Lord turned toward Gideon and said, "Then use your great power and go save the Israelites from the Midianites. I am sending you to save them."

BNV : গিদিয়োন বলল, “ক্ষমা করবেন| কি করে আমি ইস্রায়েলকে রক্ষা করব? মনঃশি পরিবারগোষ্ঠীর মধ্যে আমার পরিবারই হচ্ছে সবচেয়ে দুর্বল| তাছাড়া এই পরিবারে আমিই সবচেয়ে ছোট|”
KJV : And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I [am] the least in my father’s house.
YLT : And he saith unto him, `O, my lord, wherewith do I save Israel? lo, my chief [is] weak in Manasseh, and I the least in the house of my father.`
RV : And he said unto him, Oh Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is the poorest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father-s house.
RSV : And he said to him, "Pray, Lord, how can I deliver Israel? Behold, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family."
ASV : And he said unto him, Oh, Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is the poorest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my fathers house.
ESV : And he said to him, "Please, Lord, how can I save Israel? Behold, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house."
ERVEN : But Gideon answered and said, "Pardon me, sir. How can I save Israel? My family group is the weakest in the tribe of Manasseh, and I am the youngest one in my family."

BNV : প্রভু বললেন, “আমি তোমার সঙ্গে আছি| সুতরাং মিদিয়নদের তুমি সহজেই পরাজিত করতে পারবে| এতই সহজ যে, মনে হবে তুমি যেন শুধু একজনের সঙ্গেই যুদ্ধ করছ|”
KJV : And the LORD said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.
YLT : And Jehovah saith unto him, `Because I am with thee -- thou hast smitten the Midianites as one man.`
RV : And the LORD said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.
RSV : And the LORD said to him, "But I will be with you, and you shall smite the Midianites as one man."
ASV : And Jehovah said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.
ESV : And the LORD said to him, "But I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man."
ERVEN : The Lord answered Gideon and said, "I will be with you, so you can defeat the Midianites as easily as if they were only one man."

BNV : তখন গিদিয়োন প্রভুকে বলল, “যদি আপনি সত্যিই আমার ওপর প্রসন্ন হন তাহলে আপনি যে বয়ং প্রভু তার একটা প্রমাণ দিন|
KJV : And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then shew me a sign that thou talkest with me.
YLT : And he saith unto Him, `If, I pray Thee, I have found grace in Thine eyes, then Thou hast done for me a sign that Thou art speaking with me.
RV : And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then shew me a sign that it is thou that talkest with me.
RSV : And he said to him, "If now I have found favor with thee, then show me a sign that it is thou who speakest with me.
ASV : And he said unto him, If now I have found favor in thy sight, then show me a sign that it is thou that talkest with me.
ESV : And he said to him, "If now I have found favor in your eyes, then show me a sign that it is you who speaks with me.
ERVEN : Then Gideon said to him, "If you would, please give me some proof that you really are the Lord.

BNV : দয়া করে একটু অপেক্ষা করুন| আমি ফিরে না আসা পর্য়ন্ত যেন চলে যাবেন না| আমি আপনার জন্য নৈবেদ্য আনতে যাচ্ছি| সেই নৈবেদ্য আপনার কাছে নিবেদন করব| আপনি দয়া করে অনুমতি দিন|”প্রভু বললেন, “আমি তোমার ফিরে আসা পর্য়ন্ত অপেক্ষা করবো|”
KJV : Depart not hence, I pray thee, until I come unto thee, and bring forth my present, and set [it] before thee. And he said, I will tarry until thou come again.
YLT : Move not, I pray Thee, from this, till my coming in unto Thee, and I have brought out my present, and put it before Thee;` and he saith, `I -- I do abide till thy return.`
RV : Depart not hence, I pray thee, until I come unto thee, and bring forth my present, and lay it before thee. And he said, I will tarry until thou come again.
RSV : Do not depart from here, I pray thee, until I come to thee, and bring out my present, and set it before thee." And he said, "I will stay till you return."
ASV : Depart not hence, I pray thee, until I come unto thee, and bring forth my present, and lay it before thee. And he said, I will tarry until thou come again.
ESV : Please do not depart from here until I come to you and bring out my present and set it before you." And he said, "I will stay till you return."

KJV : And Gideon went in, and made ready a kid, and unleavened cakes of an ephah of flour: the flesh he put in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot, and brought [it] out unto him under the oak, and presented [it. ]

ERVEN : So Gideon went in and cooked a young goat in boiling water. He also took about 20 pounds of flour and made bread without yeast. Then he put the meat into a basket and the broth from the meat into a pot. He brought out the meat, the broth, and the bread without yeast and gave them to the Lord under the oak tree.

BNV : প্রভুর দূতের হাতে একটি ছড়ি ছিল| মাংস আর রুটির ওপর ছড়িটার ডগা ছোঁযাতেই পাথর থেকে আগুন ছিটকে বেরল| মাংস রুটি একেবারে পুড়ে গেল| তারপর প্রভুর দূত কোথায মিলিযে গেলেন|
KJV : Then the angel of the LORD put forth the end of the staff that [was] in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the LORD departed out of his sight.
YLT : And the messenger of Jehovah putteth forth the end of the staff which [is] in His hand, and cometh against the flesh, and against the unleavened things, and the fire goeth up out of the rock and consumeth the flesh and the unleavened things -- and the messenger of Jehovah hath gone from his eyes.

ERVEN : The Angel of the Lord had a walking stick in his hand. He touched the meat and the bread with the end of the stick, and fire jumped up out of the rock and burned up the meat and the bread. Then the Angel of the Lord disappeared.

KJV : And build an altar unto the LORD thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second bullock, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down.
YLT : and thou hast built an altar to Jehovah thy God on the top of this stronghold, by the arrangement, and hast taken the second bullock, and caused to ascend a burnt-offering with the wood of the shrine which thou cuttest down.`

BNV : গিদিয়োন প্রভুর কথামতো দশ জন ভৃত্য নিয়ে কাজটি করলেন| কিন্তু তাঁর মনে ভয় হল যে, বাড়ির লোকরা আর শহরের সবাই তাঁর কাণ্ড দেখে ফেলবে| অথচ প্রভুর নির্দেশ তাঁকে পালন করতেই হবে| কাজটা তিনি দিনের বেলায নয়, রাত্রিতেই করলেন|
KJV : Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as the LORD had said unto him: and [so] it was, because he feared his father’s household, and the men of the city, that he could not do [it] by day, that he did [it] by night.

BNV : পরদিন সকালে শহরের লোকরা ঘুম থেকে উঠে দেখল, বালের বেদীটা শেষ হয়ে গেছে| তারা এটাও দেখল যে আশেরার খুঁটিও কেটে ফেলা হয়েছে| বালের বেদীর পাশেই ছিল সেই খুঁটি| সেই সঙ্গে তারা দেখলো গিদিয়োনের তৈরি সেই বেদীটা| বেদীর উপর বলি দেওয়া ষাঁড়টিও তাদের চোখে পড়লো|
KJV : And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was cast down, and the grove was cut down that [was] by it, and the second bullock was offered upon the altar [that was] built.

It had been sitting next to the altar for Baal. They also saw the altar that Gideon had built. And they saw the bull that had been sacrificed on that altar.

BNV : লোকরা এ ওর দিকে তাকিযে জিজ্ঞাসা করল, “কে আমাদের বেদীটা ভেঙ্গেছে? কে আশেরার খুঁটি কেটেছে? কে এই নতুন বেদীটায ষাঁড় বলি দিয়েছে?” এই রকম নানা প্রশ্ন তারা নিজেদের মধ্যে করতে থাকল|একজন বলল, “যোয়াশের পুত্র গিদিয়োন এসব করেছে|”
KJV : And they said one to another, Who hath done this thing? And when they enquired and asked, they said, Gideon the son of Joash hath done this thing.

ERVEN : The men of the city looked at each other and asked, "Who pulled down our altar? Who cut down our Asherah pole? Who sacrificed this bull on this new altar?" They asked many questions and tried to learn who did this. Someone told them, "Gideon son of Joash did this."

KJV : And Joash said unto all that stood against him, Will ye plead for Baal? will ye save him? he that will plead for him, let him be put to death whilst [it is yet] morning: if he [be] a god, let him plead for himself, because [one] hath cast down his altar.
YLT : And Joash saith to all who have stood against him, `Ye, do ye plead for Baal? ye -- do ye save him? he who pleadeth for him is put to death during the morning; if he [is] a god he himself doth plead against him, because he hath broken down his altar.`

ERVEN : Then Joash spoke to the crowd that was standing around him. Joash said, "Are you going to take Baal's side? Are you going to rescue Baal? If anyone takes Baal's side, let him be put to death by morning. If Baal really is a god, let him defend himself when someone pulls down his altar."

BNV : য়োয়াশ বলল, “যদি গিদিয়োন বালের বেদী ভেঙ্গে থাকে তবে বাল তার সঙ্গে বিবাদ করুক|” সেদিন থেকে য়োয়াশ গিদিয়োনের একটা নতুন নাম দিলেন| যিরুব্বাল হচ্ছে সেই নতুন নাম|
KJV : Therefore on that day he called him Jerubbaal, saying, Let Baal plead against him, because he hath thrown down his altar.
YLT : And he calleth him, on that day, Jerubbaal, saying, `The Baal doth plead against him, because he hath broken down his altar.`

BNV : মনঃশি পরিবারগোষ্ঠী সকলের কাছে সে বার্তাবাহক পাঠাল| বার্তাবাহকরা তাদের অস্ত্রশস্ত্র নিয়ে যুদ্ধের জন্য তৈরি হতে বলল| তাছাড়া গিদিয়োন আশের, সবুলূন আর নপ্তালি পরিবারগোষ্ঠীর কাছেও বার্তাবাহক পাঠালেন| এই কথা বার্তাবাহকরা তাদের বললে তারাও গিদিয়োন ও তাঁর সঙ্গীদের সঙ্গে দেখা করলো|
KJV : And he sent messengers throughout all Manasseh; who also was gathered after him: and he sent messengers unto Asher, and unto Zebulun, and unto Naphtali; and they came up to meet them.

ERVEN : He sent messengers to all the people of the tribe of Manasseh and told them to get their weapons and prepare for battle. Gideon also sent messengers to the tribes of Asher, Zebulun, and Naphtali. The messengers took the same message to them. So they also went up to meet Gideon and his men.

BNV : তখন গিদিয়োন ঈশ্বরকে বললেন, “ আপনি আমাকে সাহায্য করবেন বলেছিলেন যাতে ইস্রায়েলবাসীরা রক্ষা পায়| এ কথা যে সত্যি তা প্রমাণ করুন|
KJV : And Gideon said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said,

BNV : যে জায়গায় শস্য ঝাড়াই হয় সেখানে আমি একটা মেষের ছাল রেখে দেব| যদি দেখি সব জায়গাই শুকনো অথচ সেই মেষের ছালে শিশির পড়েছে তাহলে বুঝব আপনি আমাকে দিয়ে ইস্রায়েল রক্ষা করবেন| এরকম কথাই তো আপনি বলেছিলেন|”
KJV : Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; [and] if the dew be on the fleece only, and [it be] dry upon all the earth [beside,] then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said.

BNV : ঠিক সে রকমই ঘটল| পরদিন খুব ভোরে গিদিয়োন ঘুম থেকে উঠে মেষের ছাল নিংড়ে নিলে ছাল থেকে এক বাটি ভর্তি জল বের হল|
KJV : And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the fleece together, and wringed the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water.

BNV : গিদিয়োন ঈশ্বরকে বলল, “হে প্রভু আমার প্রতি ক্রুদ্ধ হবেন না| আমি আপনার কাছে শুধু আর একটি জিনিস চাইব| মেষের ছাল নিয়ে আর একবার আপনাকে পরীক্ষা করতে দিন| এবারে ছালটা যেন শুকিয়ে যায় আর চারিদিকের মাটি যেন শিশিরে ভিজে থাকে|”
KJV : And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew.
