BNV : প্রভুর দূত গিল্গল শহর থেকে বোখীম শহরে গিয়েছিলেন| ইস্রায়েলবাসীদের কাছে দূত প্রভুর একটি বার্তা শুনিয়েছিলেন| বার্তাটি ছিল এরকম: “আমি তোমাদের মিশর থেকে নিয়ে এসেছি| আমি তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের কাছে যে জমিজায়গার প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছিলাম সেইখানে আমি তোমাদের নিয়ে এসেছি| আমি বলেছিলাম, আমি কখনই তোমাদের কাছে চুক্তিভঙ্গ করব না|
KJV : And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.
YLT : And a messenger of Jehovah goeth up from Gilgal unto Bochim,
RV : And the angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim. And he said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you:
RSV : Now the angel of the LORD went up from Gilgal to Bochim. And he said, "I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you into the land which I swore to give to your fathers. I said, `I will never break my covenant with you,
ASV : And the angel of Jehovah came up from Gilgal to Bochim. And he said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you:
ESV : Now the angel of the LORD went up from Gilgal to Bochim. And he said, "I brought you up from Egypt and brought you into the land that I swore to give to your fathers. I said, 'I will never break my covenant with you,
ERVEN : The Angel of the Lord went up to the city of Bokim from the city of Gilgal. The angel spoke a message from the Lord to the Israelites. This was the message: "I brought you out of Egypt and led you to the land that I promised to give to your ancestors. I told you I would never break my agreement with you.

BNV : কিন্তু তাই বলে তোমরা অবশ্যই সে দেশের লোকদের সঙ্গে কখনও কোন চুক্তি করবে না| তাদের তৈরী সমস্ত বেদী তোমাদের ভেঙ্গে ফেলতে হবে| একথা আমি তোমাদের আগেই বলেছি| কিন্তু তোমরা আমার কথা শোন নি| তোমরা করেছ কি?
KJV : And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?
YLT : and saith, `I cause you to come up out of Egypt, and bring you in unto the land which I have sworn to your fathers, and say, I do not break My covenant with you to the age; and ye -- ye make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land -- their altars ye break down; and ye have not hearkened to My voice -- what [is] this ye have done?
RV : and ye shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall break down their altars: but ye have not hearkened unto my voice: why have ye done this?
RSV : and you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall break down their altars.' But you have not obeyed my command. What is this you have done?
ASV : and ye shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall break down their altars. But ye have not hearkened unto my voice: why have ye done this?
ESV : and you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall break down their altars.' But you have not obeyed my voice. What is this you have done?
ERVEN : But in return, you must never make any agreement with the people living in that land. You must destroy their altars. I told you that, but you didn't obey me.

BNV : “এখন আমি তোমাদের বলছি, “আমি এই জায়গা থেকে অন্যান্য লোকদের আর তাড়িয়ে দেব না| এরা তোমাদের কাছে সমস্যার সৃষ্টি করবে| এরা তোমাদের কাছে একটা ফাঁদের মতো হবে| তাদের ঐসব ভ্রান্ত দেবতারাই তোমাদের কাছে ফাঁদ হয়ে দাঁড়াবে|”
KJV : Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be [as thorns] in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.
YLT : And I also have said, I do not cast them out from your presence, and they have been to you for adversaries, and their gods are to you for a snare.`
RV : Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be {cf15i as thorns} in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.
RSV : So now I say, I will not drive them out before you; but they shall become adversaries to you, and their gods shall be a snare to you."
ASV : Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.

ERVEN : "Now I will tell you this, 'I will not force the other people to leave this land any longer. These people will become a problem for you. They will be like a trap to you. Their false gods will become like a net to trap you.'"

BNV : ইস্রায়েলবাসীদের কাছে প্রভুর দূত এই বার্তা ঘোষণা করার পর তারা সকলে উচ্চস্বরে কাঁদল|
KJV : And it came to pass, when the angel of the LORD spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.
YLT : And it cometh to pass, when the messenger of Jehovah speaketh these words unto all the sons of Israel, that the people lift up their voice and weep,
RV : And it came to pass, when the angel of the LORD spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.
RSV : When the angel of the LORD spoke these words to all the people of Israel, the people lifted up their voices and wept.

ERVEN : After the angel gave the Israelites this message from the Lord, the people cried loudly.

BNV : যে জায়গায় তারা কাঁদছিল সেই জায়গার নাম দিল বোখীম| বোখীমে তারা প্রভুর উদ্দেশ্যে অনেক কিছু বলি উত্সর্গ করল|
KJV : And they called the name of that place Bochim: and they sacrificed there unto the LORD.
YLT : and they call the name of that place Bochim, and sacrifice there to Jehovah.

BNV : যিহোশূয় তাদের যে যার নিজের জায়গায় চলে যেতে বলেছিলেন| সেই মত প্রত্যেক পরিবার নিজের নিজের জমির সীমার মধ্যে বসবাস করতে গেল|
KJV : And when Joshua had let the people go, the children of Israel went every man unto his inheritance to possess the land.
YLT : And Joshua sendeth the people away, and the sons of Israel go, each to his inheritance, to possess the land;

BNV : যিহোশূয় যতদিন বেঁচ্ছেিলেন ততদিন ইস্রায়েলবাসীরা প্রভুর সেবা করেছিল| য়িহোশূযের মৃত্যুর পর যে প্রবীণরা বেঁচ্ছেিলেন তাঁদের জীবনকালে তারা সমানে প্রভুর সেবা করেছিল| ইস্রায়েলের লোকদের জন্য প্রভু যা কিছু মহত্‌ কাজ করেছিলেন, এইসব প্রবীণরা তা দেখেছিলেন|
KJV : And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD, that he did for Israel.
YLT : and the people serve Jehovah all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who prolonged days after Joshua, who saw all the great work of Jehovah which He did to Israel.
RV : And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great work of the LORD, that he had wrought for Israel.

ERVEN : The Israelites served the Lord as long as Joshua was alive, and they continued serving the Lord during the lifetimes of the elders who lived after Joshua had died. These old men had seen all the great things the Lord had done for the Israelites.

BNV : নূনের পুত্র প্রভুর সেবক যিহোশূয়
KJV : And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, [being] an hundred and ten years old.
YLT : And Joshua son of Nun, servant of Jehovah, dieth, a son of a hundred and ten years,
RV : And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old.
RSV : And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died at the age of one hundred and ten years.

BNV : ইস্রায়েলবাসীরা যিহোশূয়কে তাঁর নিজের জমি গাশ পর্বতের উত্তরে ইফ্রয়িমের পাহাড়ী অঞ্চলে তিন্নত্‌-হেরসে কবর দিল|
KJV : And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath-heres, in the mount of Ephraim, on the north side of the hill Gaash.
YLT : and they bury him in the border of his inheritance, in Timnath-Heres, in the hill-country of Ephraim, on the north of mount Gaash;

ERVEN : The Israelites buried Joshua on the land that he had been given. That was at Timnath Heres, in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash.

BNV : ঐ সম্পূর্ণ প্রজন্মটি মারা যাবার পর পরবর্তী প্রজন্ম বেড়ে উঠল| তারা প্রভুকে জানত না| প্রভু ইস্রায়েলবাসীদের জন্য কি করেছেন তারা সেসব জানত না|
KJV : And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.
YLT : and also all that generation have been gathered unto their fathers, and another generation riseth after them who have not known Jehovah, and even the work which He hath done to Israel.

ERVEN : After that whole generation died, the next generation grew up. This new generation did not know about the Lord or what he had done for the Israelites.

BNV : তাই তারা মন্দ কাজ করতে শুরু করল এবং বালের মূর্ত্তির পূজা করতে লাগল| তারা সেই সব কাজ করেছিল যেগুলো প্রভুর দ্বারা মন্দ হিসেবে বিবেচিত ছিল|
KJV : And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:
YLT : And the sons of Israel do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and serve the Baalim,

ERVEN : So the Israelites did evil and served the false god Baal. The Lord saw the people doing this evil thing.

BNV : প্রভু ইস্রায়েলবাসীদের মিশর দেশ থেকে বের করে এনেছিলেন| এদের পূর্বপুরুষরা প্রভুর সেবা করত| কিন্তু এখন তারা প্রভুকে ত্যাগ করল| তাদের চারিধারে বসবাসকারী লোকরা মূর্ত্তির পূজা করতে শুরু করল| এই কারণে প্রভু ক্রুদ্ধ হলেন|
KJV : And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that [were] round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.
YLT : and forsake Jehovah, God of their fathers, who bringeth them out from the land of Egypt, and go after other gods (of the gods of the peoples who [are] round about them), and bow themselves to them, and provoke Jehovah,

ERVEN : The Lord had brought the Israelites out of Egypt, and their ancestors had worshiped the Lord. But the Israelites stopped following the Lord. They began to worship the false gods of the people living around them. That made the Lord angry.

BNV : ইস্রায়েলের লোকরা প্রভুকে ত্যাগ করে বাল ও অষ্টারোতকে পূজা করতে লাগল|
KJV : And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.
YLT : yea, they forsake Jehovah, and do service to Baal and to Ashtaroth.

ERVEN : The Israelites stopped following the Lord and began worshiping Baal and Ashtoreth.

BNV : প্রভু ইস্রায়েলবাসীদের উপর ক্রুদ্ধ ছিলেন তাই তিনি ইস্রায়েলবাসীদের শত্রুদের দ্বারা আক্রান্ত হতে দিলেন| শত্রুরা ইস্রায়েলবাসীদের আক্রমণ করল এবং তাদের অধিকারের সব কিছু নিয়ে নিল| প্রভু তাদের ইস্রায়েলবাসীদের পরাস্ত করতে দিলেন যারা নিজেদের রক্ষা করতে অসমর্থ ছিল|
KJV : And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.
YLT : And the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He giveth them into the hand of spoilers, and they spoil them, and He selleth them into the hand of their enemies round about, and they have not been able any more to stand before their enemies;

ESV : So the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he gave them over to plunderers, who plundered them. And he sold them into the hand of their surrounding enemies, so that they could no longer withstand their enemies.
ERVEN : The Lord was angry with the Israelites, so he let enemies attack them and take their possessions. He let their enemies who lived around them defeat them. The Israelites could not protect themselves from their enemies.

BNV : যখনই ইস্রায়েলীয়রা যুদ্ধ করত তারা হেরে যেত| কারণ প্রভু তাদের দিকে ছিলেন না| তিনি তো তাদের নিষেধ করে বলেছিলেন যে তাদের ঘিরে যে সব মানুষ রযেছে তাদের দেবতাদের পূজা করলে তারা হেরে যাবে| এর ফলে ইস্রায়েলীয়দের চরম দুর্দশা হল|
KJV : Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.
YLT : in every [place] where they have gone out, the hand of Jehovah hath been against them for evil, as Jehovah hath spoken, and as Jehovah hath sworn to them, and they are distressed -- greatly.
RV : Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had spoken, and as the LORD had sworn unto them: and they were sore distressed.
RSV : Whenever they marched out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had warned, and as the LORD had sworn to them; and they were in sore straits.
ASV : Whithersoever they went out, the hand of Jehovah was against them for evil, as Jehovah had spoken, and as Jehovah had sworn unto them: and they were sore distressed.
ESV : Whenever they marched out, the hand of the LORD was against them for harm, as the LORD had warned, and as the LORD had sworn to them. And they were in terrible distress.
ERVEN : When the Israelites went out to fight, they always lost. They lost because the Lord was not on their side. The Lord had already warned them that they would lose if they served the gods of the people living around them. The Israelites suffered very much.

BNV : তখন প্রভু কয়েকজন নেতা ঠিক করলেন| এদের বলা হত বিচারক| শত্রুরা যারা ইস্রায়েলবাসীদের আক্রমণ এবং লুট করতো তাদের হাত থেকে এরা তাদের রক্ষা করতো|
KJV : Nevertheless the LORD raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.
YLT : And Jehovah raiseth up judges, and they save them from the hand of their spoilers;
RV : And the LORD raised up judges, which saved them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.
RSV : Then the LORD raised up judges, who saved them out of the power of those who plundered them.
ASV : And Jehovah raised up judges, who saved them out of the hand of those that despoiled them.
ESV : Then the LORD raised up judges, who saved them out of the hand of those who plundered them.
ERVEN : Then the Lord chose leaders called judges. These leaders saved the Israelites from the enemies who took their possessions.

BNV : কিন্তু তারা এই বিচারকদের কথা কানে নিত না| তারা প্রভুর প্রতি বিশ্বস্ত ছিল না এবং অন্যান্য দেবতাদের পূজা করতো| যদিও তাদের পূর্বপুরুষরা প্রভুর আজ্ঞা এবং নির্দেশ পালন করত, কিন্তু এখন তারা অচিরেই বিমুখ হয়ে গেল| তারা প্রভুকে মানতে চাইল না|
KJV : And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers walked in, obeying the commandments of the LORD; [but] they did not so.
YLT : and also unto their judges they have not hearkened, but have gone a-whoring after other gods, and bow themselves to them; they have turned aside [with] haste out of the way [in] which their fathers walked to obey the commands of Jehovah -- they have not done so.
RV : And yet they hearkened not unto their judges, for they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves down unto them: they turned aside quickly out of the way wherein their fathers walked, obeying the commandments of the LORD; {cf15i but} they did not so.
RSV : And yet they did not listen to their judges; for they played the harlot after other gods and bowed down to them; they soon turned aside from the way in which their fathers had walked, who had obeyed the commandments of the LORD, and they did not do so.
ASV : And yet they hearkened not unto their judges; for they played the harlot after other gods, and bowed themselves down unto them: they turned aside quickly out of the way wherein their fathers walked, obeying the commandments of Jehovah; but they did not so.
ESV : Yet they did not listen to their judges, for they whored after other gods and bowed down to them. They soon turned aside from the way in which their fathers had walked, who had obeyed the commandments of the LORD, and they did not do so.
ERVEN : But the Israelites did not listen to their judges. The Israelites were not faithful to God—they followed other gods. In the past, the ancestors of the Israelites obeyed the Lord's commands. But now the Israelites changed and stopped obeying the Lord.

BNV : বারবার ইস্রায়েলের শত্রুরা তাদের ক্ষতি সাধন করত| আর তাই ইস্রায়েলীয়রা সাহায্যের জন্য প্রার্থনা করত| প্রত্যেকবারই প্রভু তাদের দুর্দশায় কষ্ট পেয়ে তাদের বাঁচানোর জন্যে একজন করে বিচারক পাঠিয়েছিলেন| তিনি সবসমযেই এইসব বিচারকের সহায় ছিলেন| প্রত্যেকবার এদের সাহায্যেই ইস্রায়েলীয়রা রক্ষা পেত|
KJV : And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.
YLT : And when Jehovah raised up to them judges -- then was Jehovah with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for it repenteth Jehovah, because of their groaning from the presence of their oppressors, and of those thrusting them away.
RV : And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the LORD because of their groaning by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.
RSV : Whenever the LORD raised up judges for them, the LORD was with the judge, and he saved them from the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for the LORD was moved to pity by their groaning because of those who afflicted and oppressed them.
ASV : And when Jehovah raised them up judges, then Jehovah was with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented Jehovah because of their groaning by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.
ESV : Whenever the LORD raised up judges for them, the LORD was with the judge, and he saved them from the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge. For the LORD was moved to pity by their groaning because of those who afflicted and oppressed them.
ERVEN : Many times the enemies of Israel did bad things to the people, so the Israelites would cry for help. And each time the Lord felt sorry for the people and sent a judge to save them from their enemies. The Lord was always with those judges. Each time the Israelites were saved from their enemies.

BNV : কিন্তু বিচারক মারা গেলেই তারা আবার তাদের পূরানো পথে ফিরে গিয়ে পাপ করত এবং মূর্ত্তি পূজায় মেতে উঠত| তারা ভীষণ একরোখা ছিল এবং তারা পাপের পথ ত্যাগ করতে অস্বীকার করল| তারা তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের থেকেও খারাপ আচরণ করত|
KJV : And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, [that] they returned, and corrupted [themselves] more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.
YLT : And it hath come to pass, at the death of the judge -- they turn back and have done corruptly above their fathers, to go after other gods, to serve them, and to bow themselves to them; they have not fallen from their doings, and from their stiff way.
RV : But it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they turned back, and dealt more corruptly than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their doings, nor from their stubborn way.
RSV : But whenever the judge died, they turned back and behaved worse than their fathers, going after other gods, serving them and bowing down to them; they did not drop any of their practices or their stubborn ways.

ERVEN : But when each judge died, the Israelites again sinned and started worshiping the false gods. The Israelites were very stubborn—they refused to change their evil ways.

ERVEN : So the Lord became angry with the Israelites, and he said, "This nation has broken the agreement that I made with their ancestors. They have not listened to me.

BNV : তাই আমি আর অন্যান্য জাতিকে হারিযে ইস্রায়েলীয়দের পথ পরিষ্কার করব না| এই সব বিদেশী জাতি যিহোশূয়র মৃত্যুর সমযেও এই দেশে বসবাস করত| আমি তাদের এদেশেই থাকতে দেব|
KJV : I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:
YLT : I also continue not to dispossess any from before them of the nations which Joshua hath left when he dieth,

ERVEN : So I will no longer defeat the nations and clear the way for the Israelites. Those nations were still in this land when Joshua died, and I will let them stay in this land.

KJV : That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep [it,] or not.

ERVEN : I will use them to test the Israelites. I will see if the Israelites can keep the Lord's commands as their ancestors did."

KJV : Therefore the LORD left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua.
YLT : And Jehovah leaveth these nations, so as not to dispossess them hastily, and did not give them into the hand of Joshua.

ERVEN : The Lord allowed those nations to stay in the land. He did not quickly force them to leave the country. He did not help Joshua's army defeat them.
