BNV : আর একদিন দেবদূতরা প্রভুর সঙ্গে দেখা করতে এলেন| শয়তানও তাদের সঙ্গে প্রভুর কাছে দেখা করতে এলো|
KJV : Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.
YLT : And the day is, that sons of God come in to station themselves by Jehovah, and there doth come also the Adversary in their midst to station himself by Jehovah.
RV : Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.

BNV : প্রভু শয়তানকে বললেন, “তুমি কোথায় ছিলে?”শয়তান প্রভুকে উত্তর দিলো, “আমি পৃথিবীতে ঘুরে বেড়াচ্ছিলাম এবং এদিক-ওদিক যাচ্ছিলাম|”
KJV : And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
YLT : And Jehovah saith unto the Adversary, `Whence camest thou?` And the Adversary answereth Jehovah and saith, `From going to and fro in the land, and from walking up and down in it.`
RV : And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
RSV : And the LORD said to Satan, "Whence have you come?" Satan answered the LORD, "From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it."
ASV : And Jehovah said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered Jehovah, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
ESV : And the LORD said to Satan, "From where have you come?" Satan answered the LORD and said, "From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it."
ERVEN : The Lord said to Satan, "Where have you been?" Satan answered the Lord, "I have been roaming around the earth, going from place to place."

BNV : তখন প্রভু শয়তানকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “তুমি কি আমার দাস ইয়োবকে দেখেছো? পৃথিবীতে ইয়োবের মতো আর কোন লোক নেই| ইয়োব এক জন সত্‌ এবং অনিন্দনীয মানুষ| সে এখনও তার সততাকে ধরে আছে যদিও তুমি সম্পূর্ণ বিনা কারণে তাকে ধ্বংস করতে আমাকে প্ররোচিত করেছিলে|”
KJV : And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that [there is] none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.
YLT : And Jehovah saith unto the Adversary, `Hast thou set thy heart unto My servant Job because there is none like him in the land, a man perfect and upright, fearing God and turning aside from evil? and still he is keeping hold on his integrity, and thou dost move Me against him to swallow him up for nought!`
RV : And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job? for there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and art upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil: and he still holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.
RSV : And the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil? He still holds fast his integrity, although you moved me against him, to destroy him without cause."
ASV : And Jehovah said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job? for there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and turneth away from evil: and he still holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.
ESV : And the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil? He still holds fast his integrity, although you incited me against him to destroy him without reason."
ERVEN : Then the Lord said to Satan, "Have you noticed my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him. He is a good, faithful man. He respects God and refuses to do evil. He is still faithful, even though you asked me to let you destroy, without reason, everything he has."

BNV : তখন শয়তান উত্তর দিল, “নিজেকে রক্ষা করার জন্য য়ে কেউই যা কিছু করতে পারে|নিজের জীবন রক্ষা করার জন্য এক জন তার সর্বস্ব দিয়ে দেবে|
KJV : And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.
YLT : And the Adversary answereth Jehovah and saith, `A skin for a skin, and all that a man hath he doth give for his life.
RV : And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.
RSV : Then Satan answered the LORD, "Skin for skin! All that a man has he will give for his life.
ASV : And Satan answered Jehovah, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.
ESV : Then Satan answered the LORD and said, "Skin for skin! All that a man has he will give for his life.
ERVEN : Satan answered, "Skin for skin! A man will give everything he has to protect himself.

BNV : আপনি যদি তার দেহে আঘাত করার জন্য আপনার শক্তিকে ব্যবহার করেন, তাহলে আমি জোর দিয়ে বলতে পারি য়ে সে মুখের ওপরই আপনাকে অভিশাপ দেবে|”
KJV : But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.
YLT : Yet, put forth, I pray Thee, Thy hand, and strike unto his bone and unto his flesh -- if not: unto Thy face he doth bless Thee!`
RV : But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will renounce thee to thy face.
RSV : But put forth thy hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face."
ASV : But put forth thy hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will renounce thee to thy face.
ESV : But stretch out your hand and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse you to your face."
ERVEN : I swear, if you attack his flesh and bones, he will curse you to your face!"

BNV : তখন প্রভু শয়তানকে বললেন, “ঠিক আছে, ইয়োব এখন তোমার ক্ষমতার মধ্যে| কিন্তু তুমি তাকে মেরে ফেলতে পারবে না|”
KJV : And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he [is] in thine hand; but save his life.
YLT : And Jehovah saith unto the Adversary, `Lo, he [is] in thy hand; only his life take care of.`
RV : And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; only spare his life.
RSV : And the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, he is in your power; only spare his life."
ASV : And Jehovah said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thy hand; only spare his life.
ESV : And the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, he is in your hand; only spare his life."
ERVEN : So the Lord said to Satan, "All right, Job is in your hands, but you are not allowed to kill him."

BNV : তখন শয়তান প্রভুর কাছ থেকে চলে গেল| শয়তান যন্ত্রণাদাযক ফোড়ায ইয়োবের পা থেকে মাথা পর্য়ন্ত ভরিয়ে দিল|
KJV : So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.
YLT : And the Adversary goeth forth from the presence of Jehovah, and smiteth Job with a sore ulcer from the sole of his foot unto his crown.
RV : So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.
RSV : So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD, and afflicted Job with loathsome sores from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.

ERVEN : So Satan left the meeting with the Lord and gave Job painful sores all over his body, from the bottom of his feet to the top of his head.

BNV : তখন ইয়োব ছাইযের গাদার মধ্যে বসলেন| একটা ভাঙা খোলামকুচি (সরা বা হাঁড়ির ভাঙা টুকরো) দিয়ে তিনি তাঁর ক্ষত চাঁছতে লাগলেন|
KJV : And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes.
YLT : And he taketh to him a potsherd to scrape himself with it, and he is sitting in the midst of the ashes.
RV : And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat among the ashes.
RSV : And he took a potsherd with which to scrape himself, and sat among the ashes.
ASV : And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself therewith; and he sat among the ashes.
ESV : And he took a piece of broken pottery with which to scrape himself while he sat in the ashes.
ERVEN : Job sat on the pile of ashes where he was mourning and used a piece of broken pottery to scrape his sores.

BNV : ইয়োবের স্ত্রী তাঁকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “তুমি কি এখনো ঈশ্বরের প্রতি সততায় অবিচল আছ? কেন তুমি ঈশ্বরকে অভিশাপদিচ্ছো না এবং মরছো না!”
KJV : Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.
YLT : And his wife saith to him, `Still thou art keeping hold on thine integrity: bless God and die.`
RV : Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still hold fast thine integrity? renounce God, and die.
RSV : Then his wife said to him, "Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God, and die."
ASV : Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still hold fast thine integrity? renounce God, and die.
ESV : Then his wife said to him, "Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die."
ERVEN : His wife said to him, "Are you still holding on to your faith? Why don't you just curse God and die!"

BNV : ইয়োব তাঁর স্ত্রীকে উত্তর দিলেন, “তুমি এক জন নির্বোধ স্ত্রীলোকের মত কথা বলছো! ঈশ্বর আমাদের ভালো জিনিস দেন এবং আমরা তা গ্রহণ করি| সেই ভাবে আমাদের, তাঁর প্রদত্ত দুঃখ কষ্টও গ্রহণ করা উচিত্‌|” এই সব ঘটনা ঘটলো, কিন্তু ইয়োব ঈশ্বরের বিরুদ্ধে কোন কথা বলে কোন পাপ করলেন না|
KJV : But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.
YLT : And he saith unto her, `As one of the foolish women speaketh, thou speakest; yea, the good we receive from God, and the evil we do not receive.` In all this Job hath not sinned with his lips.
RV : But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.
RSV : But he said to her, "You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?" In all this Job did not sin with his lips.

ESV : But he said to her, "You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?" In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
ERVEN : Job answered, "You sound like one of those fools on the street corner! How can we accept all the good things that God gives us and not accept the problems?" So even after all that happened to Job, he did not sin. He did not accuse God of doing anything wrong.

BNV : ইয়োবের তিনজন বন্ধু হলেন তৈমনীয ইলীফস, শূহীয বিল্দদ ও নামাথীয সোফর| ইয়োবের প্রতি ঘটে যাওয়া ঘটনার কথা তিন বন্ধুই শুনলেন| তাঁরা তিন জনে বাড়ী থেকে বেরিয়ে এক জায়গায় মিলিত হলেন| তাঁরা ইয়োবের কাছে গিয়ে তাঁর সঙ্গে দেখা করে সমবেদনা জানাতে ও সান্ত্বনা জানাতে রাজী হলেন|
KJV : Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place; Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him.
YLT : And three of the friends of Job hear of all this evil that hath come upon him, and they come in each from his place -- Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite -- and they are met together to come in to bemoan him, and to comfort him;

ESV : Now when Job's three friends heard of all this evil that had come upon him, they came each from his own place, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. They made an appointment together to come to show him sympathy and comfort him.
ERVEN : Job's three friends heard about all the bad things that happened to him, so Eliphaz came from Teman, Bildad from Shuah, and Zophar from Naamah. They met together and went to comfort Job and show him their sympathy.

BNV : কিন্তু তিন বন্ধু ইয়োবকে অনেক দূর থেকে দেখলেন| তাঁরা তাঁকে চিনতেই পারছিলেন না| তাঁরা উচ্চস্বরে কাঁদতে শুরু করলেন| তাঁরা নিজের কাপড় ছিঁড়ে ফেললেন এবং নিজেদের মাথার ওপরে শূন্যে ধূলো ছুঁড়লেন|
KJV : And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.
YLT : and they lift up their eyes from afar and have not discerned him, and they lift up their voice and weep, and rend each his robe, and sprinkle dust on their heads -- heavenward.
RV : And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.

ERVEN : But his friends didn't even recognize him when they first saw him in the distance! They began to cry loudly. They tore their clothes and threw dirt in the air over their heads to show how sad they were.

BNV : তারপর সেই তিন বন্ধু ইয়োবের সঙ্গে সাতদিনসাতরাত বসে রইলেন| কেউই ইয়োবের সঙ্গে কোন কথা বলেন নি কারণ তাঁরা দেখেছিলেন ইয়োব অতিরিক্ত কষ্ট পাচ্ছিলেন|
KJV : So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that [his] grief was very great.
YLT : And they sit with him on the earth seven days and seven nights, and there is none speaking unto him a word when they have seen that the pain hath been very great.
