KJV : And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

KJV : And here men that die receive tithes; but there he [receiveth them,] of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
YLT : and here, indeed, men who die do receive tithes, and there [he], who is testified to that he was living,
RV : And here men that die receive tithes; but there one, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
RSV : Here tithes are received by mortal men; there, by one of whom it is testified that he lives.
ASV : And here men that die receive tithes; but there one, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
ESV : In the one case tithes are received by mortal men, but in the other case, by one of whom it is testified that he lives.
ERVEN : Those priests get a tenth, but they are only men who live and then die. But Melchizedek, who got a tenth from Abraham, continues to live, as the Scriptures say.
9
KJV : And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.

ESV : One might even say that Levi himself, who receives tithes, paid tithes through Abraham,

10

KJV : If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need [was there] that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
YLT : If indeed, then, perfection were through the Levitical priesthood -- for the people under it had received law -- what further need, according to the order of Melchisedek, for another priest to arise, and not to be called according to the order of Aaron?
RV : Now if there was perfection through the Levitical priesthood (for under it hath the people received the law), what further need {cf15i was there} that another priest should arise after the order of Melchizedek, and not be reckoned after the order of Aaron?
RSV : Now if perfection had been attainable through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need would there have been for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, rather than one named after the order of Aaron?
ASV : Now if there was perfection through the Levitical priesthood (for under it hath the people received the law), what further need was there that another priest should arise after the order of Melchizedek, and not be reckoned after the order of Aaron?
ESV : Now if perfection had been attainable through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need would there have been for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, rather than one named after the order of Aaron?
ERVEN : The people were given the law under the system of priests from the tribe of Levi. But no one could be made spiritually perfect through that system of priests. So there was a need for another priest to come. I mean a priest like Melchizedek, not Aaron.

KJV : Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
