BNV : আদম ও তার স্ত্রী হবার মধ্যে য়ৌন সম্পর্ক হল| হবা একটি শিশুর জন্ম দিল| শিশুটির নাম রাখা হল কয়িন| হবা বলল, “প্রভুর সহায়তায আমি একটি মানুষের রূপ দিয়েছি|”
KJV : And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
YLT : And the man knew Eve his wife, and she conceiveth and beareth Cain, and saith, `I have gotten a man by Jehovah;`
RV : And the man knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man with {cf15i the help of} the LORD.
RSV : Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, "I have gotten a man with the help of the LORD."
ASV : And the man knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man with the help of Jehovah.

ERVEN : Adam had sexual relations with his wife Eve. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Cain. Eve said, "With the Lord's help, I have made a man!"

BNV : পরে সে আর একটি শিশু প্রসব করল| এই শিশুটি হল কয়িনের ভাই হেবল| হেবল হল মেষপালক আর কয়িন হল কৃষক|
KJV : And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
YLT : and she addeth to bear his brother, even Abel. And Abel is feeding a flock, and Cain hath been servant of the ground.
RV : And again she bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
RSV : And again, she bore his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain a tiller of the ground.

BNV : ফসল কাটার সময় প্রভুর জন্যে কয়িন কিছু উপহার নিয়ে এল| কয়িন ক্ষেতে যা ফলিযেছিল তার থেকে কিছু ফসল নিয়ে এল| আর হেবল প্রভুর জন্য তার মেষপাল থেকে বাছাই করা সেরা মেষগুলোর সেরা অংশ নিয়ে এল|প্রভু হেবল ও তার উপহার গ্রহণ করলেন,
KJV : And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
YLT : And it cometh to pass at the end of days that Cain bringeth from the fruit of the ground a present to Jehovah;
RV : And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
RSV : In the course of time Cain brought to the LORD an offering of the fruit of the ground,

ERVEN : At harvest time, Cain brought a gift to the Lord. He brought some of the food that he grew from the ground, but Abel brought some animals from his flock. He chose some of his best sheep and brought the best parts from them. The Lord accepted Abel and his gift.

KJV : And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
YLT : and Abel, he hath brought, he also, from the female firstlings of his flock, even from their fat ones; and Jehovah looketh unto Abel and unto his present,

BNV : কিন্তু প্রভু কয়িন ও তার উপহার প্রত্যাখ্যান করলেন| এতে কয়িনের ভীষণ দুঃখ আর রাগ হল|
KJV : But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
YLT : and unto Cain and unto his present He hath not looked; and it is very displeasing to Cain, and his countenance is fallen.
RV : but unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

BNV : প্রভু কয়িনকে জিজ্ঞেস করলেন, “তুমি রাগ করছ কেন? তোমার মুখ বিষন্ন কেন?
KJV : And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
YLT : And Jehovah saith unto Cain, `Why hast thou displeasure? and why hath thy countenance fallen?
RV : And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
RSV : The LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry, and why has your countenance fallen?
ASV : And Jehovah said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
ESV : The LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen?
ERVEN : The Lord asked Cain, "Why are you angry? Why does your face look sad?

BNV : তুমি যদি ভাল কাজ কর, তখন আমি তোমায় গ্রহণ করব| কিন্তু যদি অন্যায় কাজ করো সে পাপ থাকবে তোমার জীবনে| তোমার পাপ তোমাকে আযত্তে রাখতে চায়, কিন্তু তোমাকেই সেই পাপকে আযত্তে রাখতে হবে|”
KJV : If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee [shall be] his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
YLT : Is there not, if thou dost well, acceptance? and if thou dost not well, at the opening a sin-offering is crouching, and unto thee its desire, and thou rulest over it.`
RV : If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin coucheth at the door: and unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
RSV : If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is couching at the door; its desire is for you, but you must master it."
ASV : If thou doest well, shall it not be lifted up? and if thou doest not well, sin coucheth at the door: and unto thee shall be its desire, but do thou rule over it.
ESV : If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it."
ERVEN : You know that if you do what is right, I will accept you. But if you don't, sin is ready to attack you. That sin will want to control you, but you must control it."

BNV : কয়িন তার ভাই হেবলকে বলল, “চলো, মাঠে যাওয়া যাক|” তখন কয়িন আর হেবল বাইরে মাঠে গেল| তখন কয়িন তার ভাই হেবলের উপর ঝাঁপিযে পড়ে তাকে হত্যা করল|
KJV : And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
YLT : And Cain saith unto Abel his brother, [`Let us go into the field;`] and it cometh to pass in their being in the field, that Cain riseth up against Abel his brother, and slayeth him.
RV : And Cain told Abel his brother. And it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
RSV : Cain said to Abel his brother, "Let us go out to the field." And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel, and killed him.

ERVEN : Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let's go out to the field." So they went to the field. Then Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.

BNV : পরে প্রভু কয়িনকে জিজ্ঞেস করলেন, “তোমার ভাই হেবল কোথায়?”কয়িন বলল, “আমি জানি না| ভাইয়ের উপর নজরদারি করা কি আমার কাজ?”
KJV : And the LORD said unto Cain, Where [is] Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: [Am] I my brother’s keeper?
YLT : And Jehovah saith unto Cain, `Where [is] Abel thy brother?` and he saith, `I have not known; my brother`s keeper -- I?`
RV : And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: am I my brother-s keeper?
RSV : Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?" He said, "I do not know; am I my brother's keeper?"
ASV : And Jehovah said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: am I my brothers keeper?
ESV : Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?" He said, "I do not know; am I my brother's keeper?"
ERVEN : Later, the Lord said to Cain, "Where is your brother Abel?" Cain answered, "I don't know. Is it my job to watch over my brother?"

BNV : তখন প্রভু বললেন, “তুমি কি করেছ? তোমার ভাইকে তুমি হত্যা করেছ? তার রক্ত মাটির নীচে থেকে আমার উদ্দেশ্যে চিত্কার করছে|
KJV : And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground.
YLT : And He saith, `What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother`s blood is crying unto Me from the ground;
RV : And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother-s blood crieth unto me from the ground.
RSV : And the LORD said, "What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood is crying to me from the ground.
ASV : And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brothers blood crieth unto me from the ground.
ESV : And the LORD said, "What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood is crying to me from the ground.
ERVEN : Then the Lord said, "What have you done? You killed your brother and the ground opened up to take his blood from your hands. Now his blood is shouting to me from the ground. So you will be cursed from this ground.

BNV : তুমি তোমার ভাইকে হত্যা করেছ এবং তোমার হাত থেকে তার রক্ত নেওয়ার জন্যে পৃথিবী বিদীর্ণ হয়েছে| তাই এখন, আমি এই ভূমিকে অভিশাপ দেব|
KJV : And now [art] thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand;
YLT : and now, cursed [art] thou from the ground, which hath opened her mouth to receive the blood of thy brother from thy hand;
RV : And now cursed art thou from the ground, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother-s blood from thy hand;
RSV : And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand.
ASV : And now cursed art thou from the ground, which hath opened its mouth to receive thy brothers blood from thy hand;
ESV : And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand.

BNV : অতীতে, তুমি গাছপালা লাগিয়েছ এবং তোমার গাছপালার ভালই বাড়বৃদ্ধি হয়েছে| কিন্তু এখন তুমি গাছপালা লাগাবে এবং মাটি তোমার গাছপালা বাড়তে আর সাহায্য করবে না| এই পৃথিবীতে তোমার কোনও বাড়ী থাকবে না, তুমি এক জায়গা থেকে আর এক জায়গায় ঘুরে ঘুরে বেড়াবে|”
KJV : When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
YLT : when thou tillest the ground, it doth not add to give its strength to thee -- a wanderer, even a trembling one, thou art in the earth.`

ERVEN : Now when you work the soil, the ground will not help your plants grow. You will not have a home in this land. You will wander from place to place."

BNV : তখন কয়িন বলল, “এই শাস্তি আমার পক্ষে খুব বেশী!
KJV : And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment [is] greater than I can bear.
YLT : And Cain saith unto Jehovah, `Greater is my punishment than to be borne;
RV : And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.
RSV : Cain said to the LORD, "My punishment is greater than I can bear.
ASV : And Cain said unto Jehovah, My punishment is greater than I can bear.
ESV : Cain said to the LORD, "My punishment is greater than I can bear.
ERVEN : Then Cain said, "This punishment is more than I can bear!

BNV : দেখ, তুমি আমায় নির্বাসনে য়েতে বাধ্য করছ| আমি তোমার কাছেও আসতে পারব না, তোমার সঙ্গে আর আমার দেখাও হবে না| আমার কোনও ঘরবাড়ী থাকবে না| আমি পৃথিবী জুড়ে এক জায়গা থেকে আর এক জায়গায় ঘুরে বেড়াতে বাধ্য হব এবং আমায় য়ে দেখবে সেই হত্যা করবে|”
KJV : Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, [that] every one that findeth me shall slay me.

ERVEN : You are forcing me to leave the land, and I will not be able to be near you or have a home! Now I must wander from place to place, and anyone I meet could kill me."

BNV : তখন প্রভু কয়িনকে বললেন, “না, আমি তা ঘটতে দেব না| তোমায় যদি কেউ হত্যা করে তাহলে তাকে আরও বেশী শাস্তি দেব|” তখন প্রভু কয়িনের গায়ে একটা চিহ্ন দিলেন যাতে কেউ তাকে হত্যা না করে|
KJV : And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
YLT : And Jehovah saith to him, `Therefore -- of any slayer of Cain sevenfold it is required;` and Jehovah setteth to Cain a token that none finding him doth slay him.
RV : And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD appointed a sign for Cain, lest any finding him should smite him.
RSV : Then the LORD said to him, "Not so! If any one slays Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold." And the LORD put a mark on Cain, lest any who came upon him should kill him.
ASV : And Jehovah said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And Jehovah appointed a sign for Cain, lest any finding him should smite him.
ESV : Then the LORD said to him, "Not so! If anyone kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold." And the LORD put a mark on Cain, lest any who found him should attack him.
ERVEN : Then the Lord said to Cain, "No, if anyone kills you, I will punish that person much, much more." Then the Lord put a mark on Cain to show that no one should kill him.

BNV : কয়িন প্রভুর কাছ থেকে চলে এল এবং এদনের পূর্বদিকে নোদ নামক এক দেশে বাস করতে লাগল|
KJV : And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
YLT : And Cain goeth out from before Jehovah, and dwelleth in the land, moving about east of Eden;
RV : And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
RSV : Then Cain went away from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, east of Eden.

BNV : কয়িনের সঙ্গে য়ৌন সম্পর্কের ফলে তার স্ত্রী একটি পুত্রের জন্ম দিল| তার নাম রাখা হল হনোক| কয়িন একটি নগর পত্তন করে তার নামও পুত্রের নামে রাখল হনোক|
KJV : And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
YLT : and Cain knoweth his wife, and she conceiveth, and beareth Enoch; and he is building a city, and he calleth the name of the city, according to the name of his son -- Enoch.

BNV : হনোকের ইরদ নামে একটি পুত্র হল| ইরদের পুত্রের নাম মহূয়ায়েল| আর তার পুত্রের নাম মথুশায়েল| আর তার পুত্রের নাম লেমক|
KJV : And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech.
YLT : And born to Enoch is Irad; and Irad hath begotten Mehujael; and Mehujael hath begotten Methusael; and Methusael hath begotten Lamech.
RV : And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methushael: and Methushael begat Lamech.

BNV : লেমকের দুজন স্ত্রী ছিল| একজনের নাম আদা, আর একজনের নাম সিল্লা|
KJV : And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one [was] Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
YLT : And Lamech taketh to himself two wives, the name of the one Adah, and the name of the second Zillah.
RV : And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.

BNV : আদার গর্ভে জন্ম হল যাবলের| যারা তাঁবুতে বাস করে এবং পশুপালন করে সেই জাতির জনক হল যুবল|
KJV : And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and [of such as have] cattle.
YLT : And Adah beareth Jabal, he hath been father of those inhabiting tents and purchased possessions;
RV : And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents and {cf15i have} cattle.
RSV : Adah bore Jabal; he was the father of those who dwell in tents and have cattle.

BNV : আদার অন্য পুত্রের নাম য়ুবল| তার সন্তানসন্ততি থেকে য়ে জাতির সৃষ্টি হল তারা বীণা ও বাঁশি বাজায|
KJV : And his brother’s name [was] Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.
YLT : and the name of his brother [is] Jubal, he hath been father of every one handling harp and organ.
RV : And his brother-s name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and pipe.
RSV : His brother's name was Jubal; he was the father of all those who play the lyre and pipe.

ERVEN : Jabal was Jubal's brother. Jubal was the father of people who play the harp and flute.

BNV : লেমকের অন্য স্ত্রী সিল্লা এক পুত্রের ও এক কন্যার জন্ম দিল| পুত্রের নাম তুবল কয়িন আর কন্যার নাম নয়মা| তুবল কয়িনের সন্তানসন্ততি পিতল ও লোহার কাজে দক্ষ|
KJV : And Zillah, she also bare Tubal- cain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubal-cain [was] Naamah.
YLT : And Zillah she also bare Tubal-Cain, an instructor of every artificer in brass and iron; and a sister of Tubal-Cain [is] Naamah.
RV : And Zillah, she also bare Tubal-cain, the forger of every cutting instrument of brass and iron: and the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.
RSV : Zillah bore Tubalcain; he was the forger of all instruments of bronze and iron. The sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.

ERVEN : Zillah gave birth to Tubal-Cain. Tubal-Cain was the father of people who work with bronze and iron. The sister of Tubal-Cain was named Naamah.

BNV : লেমক তার দুই স্ত্রীর উদ্দেশ্যে বলল,“আদা আর সিল্লা, এদিকে কান দাও| লেমকের স্ত্রীরা, আমার কথা শোনো! একটা লোক আমায় মেরেছিল, তাই তাকে আমি হত্যা করেছি| একজন তরুণ আমায় আঘাত করেছিল, তার বদলে আমি তাকে হত্যা করেছি|
KJV : And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.
YLT : And Lamech saith to his wives: -- `Adah and Zillah, hear my voice; Wives of Lamech, give ear [to] my saying: For a man I have slain for my wound, Even a young man for my hurt;
