ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ಕುಮಾರ್ತೆಯೇ, ನಾನು ಯಾವದನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯ ನ್ನಾಗಿಡಲಿ? ಯಾವದನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಸಮಾನ ಮಾಡಲಿ? ಚೀಯೋನಿನ ಮಗಳಾದ ಕನ್ಯೆಯೇ, ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಆದರಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನಾನು ಯಾವದನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಸಮಾನಮಾಡಲಿ? ನಿನ್ನ ಮುರಿಯುವಿಕೆಯು ಸಮುದ್ರದ ಹಾಗೆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ದಾಗಿದೆ, ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಗುಣಪಡಿಸುವವರು ಯಾರು?

What thing shall I take to witness for thee? what thing shall I liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? what shall I equal to thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion? for thy breach is great like the sea: who can heal thee?
