କିନ୍ତୁ ଏହାପରେ ପ୍ରେତ୍ୟକକ ବିଗ୍ଭରକର୍ତ୍ତାଙ୍କ ମୃତକ୍ସ୍ଟ୍ଯପରେ, ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ଲୋକମାନେ ପକ୍ସ୍ଟଣିଥରେ ଦକ୍ସ୍ଟର୍ନୀତିଗ୍ରସ୍ଥ ହେଲେ। ସମାନେେ ସମାନଙ୍କେର ପୂର୍ବପୁରୁଷଙ୍କଠାରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଅତି ମନ୍ଦ ବ୍ଯବହାର କଲେ। ସମାନେେ ମିଥ୍ଯାବାଦୀ ଦବେତାଙ୍କୁ ଅନକ୍ସ୍ଟସରଣ କଲେ ଓ ପୂଜା ଆରଧନା କଲେ। ସମାନେେ ସମାନଙ୍କେର ମନ୍ଦ ବିଗ୍ଭର କିମ୍ବା ସମାନଙ୍କେର ଜିଦିଖୋର ବଦଳାଇଲେ ନାହିଁ।

And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, [that] they returned, and corrupted [themselves] more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.
