ಆದರೆ ಇಸ್ರೇಲರ ಸೈನ್ಯವು ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಜನರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರು ಆ ಜನರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಶಾಂತಿ ಒಪ್ಪಂದ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರು ಇಸ್ರೇಲಿನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರು. ಒಪ್ಪಂದವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡ ಜನನಾಯಕರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅಸಮಾಧಾನ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.
