ਤਾਂ ਐਉਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਜਦ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਤਿਨ ਚਾਰ ਕਾਂਡ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਲਿਖਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਕੂ ਨਾਲ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ ਅੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਅੰਗੀਠੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ ਐਥੋਂ ਤੀਕ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਲਪੇਟਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਾਰੇ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਅੰਗੀਠੀ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਸਮ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ

And it came to pass, [that] when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast [it] into the fire that [was] on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that [was] on the hearth.

Jehudi began to read from the scroll. But after he would read two or three columns, King Jehoiakim would grab the scroll. Then he would cut those columns off the scroll with a small knife and throw them into the fireplace. Finally, the whole scroll was burned in the fire.
