మేమీ పనులన్నీ ముగించాక ఇశ్రాయేలు నాయకులు నా దగ్గరకు వచ్చి ఇలా చెప్పారు: “ఎజ్రా, ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు తమ చుట్టూ వున్నవారితో తమని తాము వేరుగా నిలుపుకోలేదు. యాజకులు, లేవీయులు సైతం తమ ప్రత్యేకతను కాపాడుకోలేదు. కనాను, హిత్తీ, పెరిజ్జీ, యెబూషీ, అమ్మోను, మెయాబు, ఈజిప్టు అమోరీ జాతులవారు చేసే పాపపు పనులతో ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు చెడుగా ప్రభావితులవుతున్నారు.

ಇವೆಲ್ಲಾ ಆದ ಬಳಿಕ ಇಸ್ರೇಲರ ಪ್ರಧಾನರು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, “ಎಜ್ರನೇ, ಇಸ್ರೇಲ್ ಜನರು ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ವಾಸಿಸುವ ಅನ್ಯಜನರಿಂದ ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಯಾಜಕರಾಗಲಿ ಲೇವಿಯರಾಗಲಿ ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ. ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿರುವ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರ, ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರ, ಪೆರಿಜ್ಜೀಯರ, ಯೆಬೂಸಿಯರ, ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರ, ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ, ಅಮೋರಿಯರ, ಈಜಿಪ್ಟಿನವರ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಜೀವಿತವು ಇಸ್ರೇಲರ ಮೇಲೆ ಪ್ರಭಾವ ಬೀರಿದೆ.
