ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಬಾಬಿಲೋನ್ ರಾಜನಾದ ನೆಬೂಕದ್ನೆಚ್ಚರನು ಜೆರುಸಲೇಮಿನ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಲು ತನ್ನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸೇನೆಯೊಡನೆ ಬಂದನು. ನೆಬೂಕದ್ನೆಚ್ಚರನು ಜೆರುಸಲೇಮಿನ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಪಾಳೆಯ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ದಿಬ್ಬವನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದನು. ಅವನು ನಗರದೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವ ಮತ್ತು ನಗರದಿಂದ ಬರುವ ಜನರನ್ನು ತಡೆಯಲು ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಇದು ನೆಬೂಕದ್ನೆಚ್ಚರನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಒಂಭತ್ತನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದ ಹತ್ತನೆಯ ತಿಂಗಳಿನ ಹತ್ತನೆಯ ದಿನದಂದು ಸಂಭವಿಸಿತು.

सिद्कीयाने बाबेलच्या राजाविरुध्द बंड केले आणि त्याच्या आज्ञा पाळण्याचे त्याने नाकारले. त्यामुळे बाबेलचा राजा नबुखद्नेस्सर आपल्या सैन्यासह यरुशलेमवर चाल करुन गेला. सिद्कीया राज्यावर आल्याचे ते नववे वर्ष, दहावा महिना, दहावा दिवस होता. नबुखद्नेस्सरच्या सैन्याने यरुशलेमला वेढा देऊन लोकांची ये जा रोखली. मग त्याने नगराभोवती कचऱ्याचे अडसर निर्माण केले.
