শমরিয়ায শহরগুলোয মূর্ত্তিসমূহের বেদীর আশেপাশে য়ে সমস্ত মন্দির গজিযে উঠেছিল য়োশিয সেগুলোও ভেঙে দিয়েছিলেন| ইস্রায়েলের আগেকার রাজা-রাজারা এই সমস্ত মন্দির বানিয়ে প্রভুকে খুবই অসন্তুষ্ট করে তুলেছিলেন| য়োশিয এই সব মন্দিরের দশা বৈথেলের বেদীর মতোই করেছিলেন|

And all the houses also of the high places that [were] in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke [the LORD] to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Bethel.
