সঙ্গে সঙ্গে এই তিন বীর যোদ্ধা পলেষ্টীয় সেনাবাহিনীর সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করতে করতে গিয়ে বৈত্লেহমের য়ে কুঁযোর জল দায়ূদ পান করতে চেয়েছিলেন, সেই জল নিয়ে আসলেন| দায়ূদ তখন সেই জল নিজে পান না করে নৈবেদ্য স্বরূপ ঈশ্বরের উদ্দেশ্যে মাটিতে ঢেলে দিয়ে বললেন,

And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that [was] by the gate, and took [it,] and brought [it] to David: but David would not drink [of] it, but poured it out to the LORD,

David did not really want this, he was only talking, but the Three Heroes fought their way through the Philistine army and got some water from the well near the city gate in Bethlehem. Then Three Heroes brought the water to David, but David refused to drink the water. He poured it out on the ground as an offering to the Lord.
