BNV : ইস্রায়েলের সমস্ত পরিবারগোষ্ঠীকে যিহোশূয় এক সঙ্গে শিখিমে জড়ো করলেন| প্রবীণ নেতাদের, পরিবারের কর্তাদের, বিচারকদের এবং পদস্থ কর্মচারীদের তিনি ডাকলেন| তারা সকলেই ঈশ্বরের সামনে দাঁড়ালো|
KJV : And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.

ERVEN : Joshua called all the tribes of Israel to meet together at Shechem. Then Joshua called the older leaders, heads of the families, judges, and the officers of Israel. These men stood before God.

BNV : তারপর যিহোশূয় সকলকে বললেন, “প্রভু ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর তোমাদের যা যা বলছেন আমি সেসব বলছি|বহুকাল আগে তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষরা থাকতেন ফরাত্‌ নদীর ওপারে| আমি অব্রাহামের পিতা, নাহোরের পিতা এবং তেরহ এঁদের মতো লোকদের কথাই বলছি| তখন তাঁরা অন্যান্য দেবতাদের আরাধনা করতেন|
KJV : And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, [even] Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.
YLT : And Joshua saith unto all the people, `Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, Beyond the River have your fathers dwelt of old -- Terah father of Abraham and father of Nachor -- and they serve other gods;

ESV : And Joshua said to all the people, "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, 'Long ago, your fathers lived beyond the Euphrates, Terah, the father of Abraham and of Nahor; and they served other gods.
ERVEN : Then Joshua spoke to all the people. He said, "I am telling you what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to you: 'A long time ago, your ancestors lived on the other side of the Euphrates River. I am talking about men like Terah, the father of Abraham and Nahor. At that time they worshiped other gods.

BNV : কিন্তু আমি প্রভু বয়ং তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষ অব্রাহামকে ফরাত্‌ নদীর ওপারের দেশ থেকে নেতৃত্ব দিয়েছিলাম এবং তাঁকে কনানের ভেতর দিয়ে নিয়ে এসেছিলাম এবং তাঁর বংশবৃদ্ধি করেছিলাম| তারপর তাঁকে দিলাম অসংখ্য সন্তান| অব্রাহামকে আমি একটি সন্তান দিলাম| তার নাম ইসহাক|
KJV : And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the flood, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac.
YLT : and I take your father Abraham from beyond the River, and cause him to go through all the land of Canaan, and multiply his seed, and give to him Isaac.

BNV : ইসহাককে আমি যাকোব এবং এষৌ নামে দুটি সন্তান দিলাম| এষৌকে দিলাম সেযীর পর্বতের চারিদিকের জমি| সেখানে যাকোব আর তার পুত্ররা থাকত না| তারা চলে গিয়েছিল মিশরে|

BNV : এভাবেই তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের আমি মিশর থেকে নিয়ে এসেছিলাম| লোহিত সাগরের দিকে তারা চলে এসেছিল আর তাদের পিছু নিয়েছিল মিশরীয়রা| তাদের ছিল কত রথ, কত ঘোড়া আর কত লোক|

BNV : তাই লোকরা আমার কাছে অর্থাত্‌ প্রভুর কাছে সাহায্য ভিক্ষা করল| আমি মিশরের লোকদের ঘোর কষ্টের মধ্যে ফেললাম| আমি প্রভু সমুদ্র দিয়ে তাদের আড়াল করলাম| তোমরা তো নিজেরাই দেখেছিলে মিশরের সৈন্যবাহিনীর কি অবস্থা আমি করেছিলাম|তারপর তোমরা বহুদিন মরুভূমিতে কাটিযেছিলে|
KJV : And when they cried unto the LORD, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea upon them, and covered them; and your eyes have seen what I have done in Egypt: and ye dwelt in the wilderness a long season.
YLT : and they cry unto Jehovah, and He setteth thick darkness between you and the Egyptians, and bringeth on them the sea, and covereth them, and your eyes see that which I have done in Egypt; and ye dwell in a wilderness many days.

BNV : এরপর আমি তোমাদের নিয়ে এসেছিলাম ইমোরীয়দের দেশে| দেশটা ছিল য়র্দনের পূর্বতীরে| ওরা তোমাদের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করেছিল বটে, কিন্তু আমি তাদের হারাবার জন্য তোমাদের শক্তি দিয়েছিলাম| তাদের বিনাশ করার মতো ক্ষমতা আমি তোমাদের দিয়েছিলাম| তারপর তোমরা সেই দেশের দখল নিলে|
KJV : And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt on the other side Jordan; and they fought with you: and I gave them into your hand, that ye might possess their land; and I destroyed them from before you.

ERVEN : Then I brought you to the land of the Amorites, east of the Jordan River. Those people fought against you, but I allowed you to defeat them. I gave you the power to destroy them, and you took control of that land.

BNV : তারপর মোয়াবের রাজা বালাক সিপ্পোরের পুত্র ইস্রায়েলবাসীদের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধের জন্যে তোড়জোড় করতে লাগল| সে ডেকে পাঠাল বালামকে| বালাম হচ্ছে বিযোরের পুত্র| সে বালামকে তোমাদের অভিশাপ দিতে বলল|

BNV : কিন্তু আমি প্রভু, বালামের অভিশাপ শুনতে সম্মত হলাম না| অভিশাপের বদলে সে তোমাদের করল আশীর্বাদ| একবার নয়, বারবার| এভাবেই আমি তোমাদের বাঁচিয়েছিলাম| আমি তোমাদের বিপদ থেকে রক্ষা করেছিলাম|
KJV : But I would not hearken unto Balaam; therefore he blessed you still: so I delivered you out of his hand.
YLT : and I have not been willing to hearken to Balaam, and he doth greatly bless you, and I deliver you out of his hand.

ERVEN : 'Then you went across the Jordan River to the city of Jericho. The people in Jericho fought against you. Also, the Amorites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hittites, Girgashites, Hivites, and Jebusites fought against you. But I allowed you to defeat them all.

BNV : আমি প্রভু তোমাদের সেই জমি-জায়গা দিয়েছিলাম| তোমরা ঐসব শহর তৈরী কর নি, আমিই সেসব তোমাদের হাতে তুলে দিয়েছিলাম| আজ তোমরা সেই সব জায়গায় আর শহরে বসবাস করছ| দ্রাক্ষার বাগান, জলপাইগাছ সবই তোমাদের আছে| কিন্তু একটা গাছের চারাও তোমাদের পুঁতে দিতে হয় নি|”
KJV : And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat.
YLT : `And I give to you a land for which thou hast not laboured, and cities which ye have not built, and ye dwell in them; of vineyards and olive-yards which ye have not planted ye are eating.

ESV : I gave you a land on which you had not labored and cities that you had not built, and you dwell in them. You eat the fruit of vineyards and olive orchards that you did not plant.'
ERVEN : No, you didn't have to do anything to get that land. I, the Lord, gave it to you. You did not build those cities—I gave them to you. And now you live in that land and in those cities. You have vineyards and olive trees, but you did not have to plant those gardens.'"

BNV : তখন যিহোশূয় লোকদের বললেন, “এখন শুনলে তো প্রভুর বাণী| তাই বলছি তোমরা অবশ্যই প্রভুকে শ্রদ্ধাভক্তি করবে এবং আন্তরিকভাবে তাঁর সেবা করবে| তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষরা য়ে সব মূর্ত্তির পূজা করেছিল, তাদের তোমরা ছুঁড়ে ফেলে দাও| বহুকাল আগে এইসব ঘটনা ঘটেছিল ফরাত্‌ নদীর ওপারে আর মিশরে| এখন থেকে তোমরা শুধু প্রভুরই সেবা করবে|
KJV : Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.
YLT : `And now, fear ye Jehovah, and serve Him, in perfection and in truth, and turn aside the gods which your fathers served beyond the River, and in Egypt, and serve ye Jehovah;
RV : Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.
RSV : "Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness; put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River, and in Egypt, and serve the LORD.

ESV : "Now therefore fear the LORD and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD.
ERVEN : Then Joshua said to the people, "Now you have heard the Lord's words. So you must respect the Lord and sincerely serve him. Throw away the false gods that your ancestors worshiped. That was something that happened a long time ago on the other side of the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Now you must serve only the Lord.

BNV : “কিন্তু এমনও তো হতে পারে য়ে, তোমরা চাও না এই প্রভুর সেবা করতে| তাহলে আজই তোমরা নিজেরাই ঠিক করো কাকে তোমরা সেবা করবে| ফরাত্‌ নদীর অন্য পারে তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষরা য়েসব দেবতাদের পূজা করত তোমরা কি তাদের সেবা করবে, নাকি এদেশের ইমোরীয়রা য়ে সব দেবতাদের উপাসনা করত তাদের সেবা করবে? নিজেরাই সেটা ঠিক করো| কিন্তু আমি আর আমার পরিবার সম্পর্কে বলতে পারি, আমরা প্রভুরই সেবা করব|”
KJV : And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that [were] on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
YLT : and if wrong in your eyes to serve Jehovah -- choose for you to-day whom ye do serve; -- whether the gods whom your fathers served, which [are] beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorite in whose land ye are dwelling; and I and my house -- we serve Jehovah.`

ESV : And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."
ERVEN : "But maybe you don't want to serve the Lord. You must choose for yourselves today. Today you must decide who you will serve. Will you serve the gods that your ancestors worshiped when they lived on the other side of the Euphrates River? Or will you serve the gods of the Amorites who lived in this land? You must choose for yourselves. But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord."

BNV : তখন লোকরা উত্তর দিল, “ আমরা প্রভুর সেবা থেকে কখনই বিরত হবো না| আমরা কখনই অন্য দেবতাদের পূজা করবো না|
KJV : And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods;
YLT : And the people answer and say, `Far be it from us to forsake Jehovah, to serve other gods;
