BNV : যাকোবও সেই স্থান হতে উঠে চলল| পথে সে ঈশ্বরের দূতগণের দেখা পেল|
KJV : And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.
YLT : And Jacob hath gone on his way, and messengers of God come upon him;
RV : And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.

ERVEN : Jacob also left that place. While he was traveling, he saw God's angels.

BNV : তাদের দেখে যাকোব বলল, “এ ঈশ্বরের শিবির!” সেই জন্যে সে সেই স্থানের নাম মহনযিম রাখল|
KJV : And when Jacob saw them, he said, This [is] God’s host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim.
YLT : and Jacob saith, when he hath seen them, `This [is] the camp of God;` and he calleth the name of that place `Two Camps.`
RV : And Jacob said when he saw them, This is God-s host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim.
RSV : and when Jacob saw them he said, "This is God's army!" So he called the name of that place Mahanaim.
ASV : And Jacob said when he saw them, This is Gods host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim.

ERVEN : When he saw them, he said, "This is God's camp!" So Jacob named that place Mahanaim.

BNV : যাকোবের ভাই এষৌ থাকত সেযীরে| এই জায়গাটা ছিল পাহাড়ী দেশ ইদোমে| যাকোব এষৌর কাছে বার্তাবাহকদের এই বলে পাঠাল,
KJV : And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the country of Edom.
YLT : And Jacob sendeth messengers before him unto Esau his brother, towards the land of Seir, the field of Edom,
RV : And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the field of Edom.
RSV : And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother in the land of Seir, the country of Edom,

ERVEN : Jacob's brother Esau was living in the area called Seir in the hill country of Edom. Jacob sent messengers to Esau.

BNV : “এই সব কথা আমার মনিব এষৌকে গিয়ে বলো| আপনার দাস যাকোব বলে: আমি এতগুলি বছর লাবনের কাছে কাটিযেছি|
KJV : And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye speak unto my lord Esau; Thy servant Jacob saith thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now:
YLT : and commandeth them, saying, `Thus do ye say to my lord, to Esau: Thus said thy servant Jacob, With Laban I have sojourned, and I tarry until now;
RV : And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye say unto my lord Esau; Thus saith thy servant Jacob, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed until now:
RSV : instructing them, "Thus you shall say to my lord Esau: Thus says your servant Jacob, `I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed until now;
ASV : And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye say unto my lord Esau: Thus saith thy servant Jacob, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed until now:
ESV : instructing them, "Thus you shall say to my lord Esau: Thus says your servant Jacob, 'I have sojourned with Laban and stayed until now.
ERVEN : He told them, "Tell this to my master Esau: 'Your servant Jacob says, I have lived with Laban all these years.

BNV : আমার অনেক গরু, গাধা, মেষপাল, লোকজন ও দাসী রয়েছে| মহাশয় আমি এই বার্তা পাঠিয়ে অনুরোধ করছি, আপনি আমাদের গ্রহণ করুন|”
KJV : And I have oxen, and asses, flocks, and menservants, and womenservants: and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in thy sight.
YLT : and I have ox, and ass, flock, and man-servant, and maid-servant, and I send to declare to my lord, to find grace in his eyes.`
RV : and I have oxen, and asses {cf15i and} flocks, and menservants ard maidservants: and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in thy sight.
RSV : and I have oxen, asses, flocks, menservants, and maidservants; and I have sent to tell my lord, in order that I may find favor in your sight.'"

ERVEN : I have many cattle, donkeys, flocks, and servants. Sir, I am sending you this message to ask you to accept us.'"

BNV : বার্তাবাহকরা যাকোবের কাছে ফিরে এসে বলল, “আমরা আপনার ভাই এষৌযের কাছে গিয়েছিলাম| তিনি আপনার সাথে দেখা করতে আসছেন| তাঁর সাথে 400 জন লোক রয়েছে|”
KJV : And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him.
YLT : And the messengers turn back unto Jacob, saying, `We came in unto thy brother, unto Esau, and he also is coming to meet thee, and four hundred men with him;`
RV : And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother Esau, and moreover he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him.
RSV : And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, "We came to your brother Esau, and he is coming to meet you, and four hundred men with him."

ERVEN : The messengers came back to Jacob and said, "We went to your brother Esau. He is coming to meet you. He has 400 men with him."

BNV : এই বার্তায যাকোব ভীত হল| সে তার লোকজনদের দুই দলে ভাগ করল| সে তার মেষপাল, পশুপাল ও উটের পালকে দুই ভাগে ভাগ করল|
KJV : Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people that [was] with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands;
YLT : and Jacob feareth exceedingly, and is distressed, and he divideth the people who [are] with him, and the flock, and the herd, and the camels, into two camps,
RV : Then Jacob was greatly afraid and was distressed: and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and the herds, and the camels, into two companies;

BNV : যাকোব বলল, “যদি এষৌ এসে এক দলকে ধ্বংস করে তবে অপর দল নিশ্চয় পালিয়ে রক্ষা পাবে|”
KJV : And said, If Esau come to the one company, and smite it, then the other company which is left shall escape.
YLT : and saith, `If Esau come in unto the one camp, and have smitten it -- then the camp which is left hath been for an escape.`
RV : and he said, If Esau come to the one company, and smite it, then the company which is left shall escape.
RSV : thinking, "If Esau comes to the one company and destroys it, then the company which is left will escape."
ASV : and he said, If Esau come to the one company, and smite it, then the company which is left shall escape.
ESV : thinking, "If Esau comes to the one camp and attacks it, then the camp that is left will escape."
ERVEN : Jacob thought, "If Esau comes and destroys one group, the other group can run away and be saved."

BNV : যাকোব বলল, “হে আমার পিতা অব্রাহামের ঈশ্বর, আমার পিতা ইসহাকের ঈশ্বর! প্রভু তুমিই আমাকে আমার দেশে আমার পরিবারের কাছে ফিরে য়েতে বলেছিলে| তুমি বলেছিলে আমার মঙ্গল করবে|
KJV : And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee:
YLT : And Jacob saith, `God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, Jehovah who saith unto me, Turn back to thy land, and to thy kindred, and I do good with thee:
RV : And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, O LORD, which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will do thee good:
RSV : And Jacob said, "O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, O LORD who didst say to me, `Return to your country and to your kindred, and I will do you good,'

ERVEN : Then Jacob said, "God of my father Abraham! God of my father Isaac! Lord, you told me to come back to my country and to my family. You said that you would do good to me.

BNV : তুমি আমার প্রতি কত করুণা করেছ| আমার কত মঙ্গল করেছ| প্রথমবার যখন আমি য়র্দ্দন পার হচ্ছিলাম তখন কেবল পথ চলার লাঠি ছাড়া আমার কাছে কিছুই ছিল না| কিন্তু এখন আমার সব কিছু প্রচুর বলে দুটো দল হয়েছে|
KJV : I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.
YLT : I have been unworthy of all the kind acts, and of all the truth which Thou hast done with thy servant -- for, with my staff I passed over this Jordan, and now I have become two camps.
RV : I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two companies.
RSV : I am not worthy of the least of all the steadfast love and all the faithfulness which thou hast shown to thy servant, for with only my staff I crossed this Jordan; and now I have become two companies.

ESV : I am not worthy of the least of all the deeds of steadfast love and all the faithfulness that you have shown to your servant, for with only my staff I crossed this Jordan, and now I have become two camps.
ERVEN : You have been very kind to me. You did many good things for me. The first time I traveled across the Jordan River, I owned nothing—only my walking stick. But now I own enough things to have two full groups.

BNV : দয়া করে আমায় আমার ভাইয়ের হাত থেকে, এষৌর হাত থেকে রক্ষা কর| আমার ভয় হয় য়ে সে আমাদের, এমনকি সন্তানদের সঙ্গে মাযেদেরও হত্যা করবে|
KJV : Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, [and] the mother with the children.
YLT : `Deliver me, I pray Thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I am fearing him, less he come and have smitten me -- mother beside sons;
RV : Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he come and smite me, the mother with the children.
RSV : Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau, for I fear him, lest he come and slay us all, the mothers with the children.

ERVEN : I ask you to please save me from my brother Esau. I am afraid he will come and kill us all, even the mothers with the children.

BNV : প্রভু তুমি আমায় বলেছিলে, ‘আমি তোমার মঙ্গল করব| আমি তোমার বংশধরদের সংখ্যায় সমুদ্রের বালির মত করব যা গুনে শেষ করা যায় না|”
KJV : And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.
YLT : and Thou -- Thou hast said, I certainly do good with thee, and have set thy seed as the sand of the sea, which is not numbered because of the multitude.`
RV : And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.
RSV : But thou didst say, `I will do you good, and make your descendants as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.'"

ERVEN : Lord, you said to me, 'I will be good to you. I will increase your family and make your children as many as the sands of the sea. There will be too many to count.'"

BNV : সেই স্থানে যাকোব রাত কাটাল| এষৌকে উপহার হিসাবে দেবার জন্য জিনিস গোছাল|
KJV : And he lodged there that same night; and took of that which came to his hand a present for Esau his brother;
YLT : And he lodgeth there during that night, and taketh from that which is coming into his hand, a present for Esau his brother:
RV : And he lodged there that night; and took of that which he had with him a present for Esau his brother;
RSV : So he lodged there that night, and took from what he had with him a present for his brother Esau,

ERVEN : Jacob stayed in that place for the night. He prepared some things to give to Esau as a gift.

BNV : যাকোব 200 টি ছাগী, 20 টি ছাগ, 200 টি মেষী ও 20 টি মেষ নিল|
KJV : Two hundred she goats, and twenty he goats, two hundred ewes, and twenty rams,
YLT : she-goats two hundred, and he-goats twenty, ewes two hundred, and rams twenty,
RV : two hundred she-goats and twenty he-goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams,

BNV : আরও নিল 30 টি উট এবং তাদের বাচ্চা, 40 টি গরু, 10 টি ষাঁড়, 20 টি গর্দ্দভী ও 10 টি গর্দ্দভ|
KJV : Thirty milch camels with their colts, forty kine, and ten bulls, twenty she asses, and ten foals.
YLT : suckling camels and their young ones thirty, cows forty, and bullocks ten, she-asses twenty, and foals ten;
RV : thirty milch camels and their colts, forty kine and ten bulls, twenty she-asses and ten foals.

BNV : যাকোব প্রতিটি পশুপাল তার দাসদের হাতে দিল| তারপর যাকোব তার দাসদের বলল, “প্রতিটি পশুর পাল পৃথক কর| আমার আগে আগে যাও আর প্রতিটি পালের মধ্যে কিছুটা দূরত্ব রেখো|
KJV : And he delivered [them] into the hand of his servants, every drove by themselves; and said unto his servants, Pass over before me, and put a space betwixt drove and drove.
YLT : and he giveth into the hand of his servants, every drove by itself, and saith unto his servants, `Pass over before me, and a space ye do put between drove and drove.`

BNV : যাকোব তার দাসদের আজ্ঞা দিল| প্রথম দলের পশু য়ে দাসের হাতে তাকে সে বলল, “যখন আমার ভাই এষৌ এসে তোমাকে জিজ্ঞেস করবে, ‘এ সব পশু কার? তুমি কোথায় যাচ্ছ? তুমি কার দাস?’
KJV : And he commanded the foremost, saying, When Esau my brother meeteth thee, and asketh thee, saying, Whose [art] thou? and whither goest thou? and whose [are] these before thee?
YLT : And he commandeth the first, saying, `When Esau my brother meeteth thee, and hath asked thee, saying, Whose [art] thou? and whither goest thou? and whose [are] these before thee?
RV : And he commanded the foremost, saying, When Esau my brother meeteth thee, and asketh thee, saying, Whose art thou? and whither goest thou? and whose are these before thee?
RSV : He instructed the foremost, "When Esau my brother meets you, and asks you, `To whom do you belong? Where are you going? And whose are these before you?'
ASV : And he commanded the foremost, saying, When Esau my brother meeteth thee, and asketh thee, saying, Whose art thou? and whither goest thou? and whose are these before thee?
ESV : He instructed the first, "When Esau my brother meets you and asks you, 'To whom do you belong? Where are you going? And whose are these ahead of you?'
ERVEN : Jacob gave them their orders. To the servant with the first group of animals he said, "When Esau my brother comes to you and asks you, 'Whose animals are these? Where are you going? Whose servant are you?'

BNV : তখন তুমি বলবে, ‘এইসব পশু আপনার দাস যাকোবের| যাকোবই এইসব উপহার হিসাবে আপনার কাছে পাঠিয়েছেন. আর যাকোব নিজেও পেছন পেছন আসছেন|”
KJV : Then thou shalt say, [They be] thy servant Jacob’s; it [is] a present sent unto my lord Esau: and, behold, also he [is] behind us.
YLT : then thou hast said, Thy servant Jacob`s: it [is] a present sent to my lord, to Esau; and lo, he also [is] behind us.`
RV : then thou shalt say, {cf15i They be} thy servant Jacob-s; it is a present sent unto my lord Esau: and, behold, he also is behind us.
RSV : then you shall say, `They belong to your servant Jacob; they are a present sent to my lord Esau; and moreover he is behind us.'"
ASV : then thou shalt say They are thy servant Jacobs; it is a present sent unto my lord Esau: and, behold, he also is behind us.
ESV : then you shall say, 'They belong to your servant Jacob. They are a present sent to my lord Esau. And moreover, he is behind us.'"
ERVEN : then you should answer, 'These animals belong to your servant Jacob. He sent them as a gift to you, my master Esau. And he also is coming behind us.'"

BNV : যাকোব দ্বিতীয়, তৃতীয় এবং অন্য সব দাসদের ঐ একই কাজ করতে বলল| সে বলল, “এষৌর সঙ্গে দেখা হলে তোমরাও সবাই ঐ একই কাজ করবে|
KJV : And so commanded he the second, and the third, and all that followed the droves, saying, On this manner shall ye speak unto Esau, when ye find him.
YLT : And he commandeth also the second, also the third, also all who are going after the droves, saying, `According to this manner do ye speak unto Esau in your finding him,
RV : And he commanded also the second, and the third, and all that followed the droves, saying, On this manner shall ye speak unto Esau, when ye find him;
RSV : He likewise instructed the second and the third and all who followed the droves, "You shall say the same thing to Esau when you meet him,

ERVEN : Jacob also ordered the second servant, the third servant, and all the other servants to do the same thing. He said, "You will say the same thing to Esau when you meet him.

BNV : তোমরা বলবে, “এই উপহার আপনার জন্যে আর আপনার দাস যাকোব আমাদের পেছনেই আসছেন|” যাকোব বলল, “যদি আমি এই লোকদের উপহার সমেত আমার আগে পাঠাই তবে হয়তো এষৌ আমায় ক্ষমা করে গ্রহণ করবেন|”
KJV : And say ye moreover, Behold, thy servant Jacob [is] behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept of me.
YLT : and ye have said also, Lo, thy servant Jacob [is] behind us;` for he said, `I pacify his face with the present which is going before me, and afterwards I see his face; it may be he lifteth up my face;`
RV : and ye shall say, Moreover, behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept me.
RSV : and you shall say, `Moreover your servant Jacob is behind us.'" For he thought, "I may appease him with the present that goes before me, and afterwards I shall see his face; perhaps he will accept me."
ASV : and ye shall say, Moreover, behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept me.
ESV : and you shall say, 'Moreover, your servant Jacob is behind us.'"For he thought, "I may appease him with the present that goes ahead of me, and afterward I shall see his face. Perhaps he will accept me."
ERVEN : You will say, 'This is a gift to you, and your servant Jacob is behind us.'" Jacob thought, "If I send these men ahead with gifts, maybe Esau will forgive me and accept me."

BNV : তাই যাকোব এষৌকে উপহারগুলি পাঠাল| কিন্তু সেই রাতে যাকোব তাঁবুতে রইল|
KJV : So went the present over before him: and himself lodged that night in the company.
YLT : and the present passeth over before his face, and he hath lodged during that night in the camp.
RV : So the present passed over before him: and he himself lodged that night in the company.
RSV : So the present passed on before him; and he himself lodged that night in the camp.

BNV : পরে সেই রাতে উঠে যাকোব সেখান থেকে চলে গেল| সে তার সাথে তার দুই স্ত্রী, দুই দাসী ও তার এগারোটি সন্তানকে নিয়ে য়ব্বোক নদী পার হল|
KJV : And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok.
YLT : And he riseth in that night, and taketh his two wives, and his two maid-servants, and his eleven children, and passeth over the passage of Jabbok;
RV : And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two handmaids, and his eleven children, and passed over the ford of Jabbok.
RSV : The same night he arose and took his two wives, his two maids, and his eleven children, and crossed the ford of the Jabbok.

BNV : যাকোবের পরিবার নদী পার হয়ে গেলে সে তার সমস্ত জিনিসপত্রও পার হবার জন্য পাঠাল|
KJV : And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that he had.
YLT : and he taketh them, and causeth them to pass over the brook, and he causeth that which he hath to pass over.
RV : And he took them, and sent them over the stream, and sent over that he had.

BNV : পুরুষটি যখন দেখলেন তিনি যাকোবকে পরাজিত করতে পারছেন না তখন যাকোবের পাযে আঘাত করলেন; তাতে যাকোরে পাযের হাড় সরে গেল|
KJV : And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.
YLT : and he seeth that he is not able for him, and he cometh against the hollow of his thigh, and the hollow of Jacob`s thigh is disjointed in his wrestling with him;
RV : And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob-s thigh was strained, as he wrestled with him.

BNV : তারপর সেই পুরুষটি যাকোবকে বললেন, “আমায় য়েতে দাও, সূর্য় উঠছে|”কিন্তু যাকোব বলল, “আপনি আমাকে আশীর্বাদ না করলে আমি আপনাকে য়েতে দেব না|”
KJV : And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
YLT : and he saith, `Send me away, for the dawn hath ascended:` and he saith, `I send thee not away, except thou hast blessed me.`

KJV : And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

KJV : And Jacob asked [him,] and said, Tell [me,] I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore [is] it [that] thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.

BNV : তাই যাকোব সেই জায়গার নাম পনূয়েল রাখল| যাকোব বলল, “এই স্থানেই আমি ঈশ্বরকে মুখোমুখি দেখলাম কিন্তু তাও প্রাণে বাঁচলাম|”
KJV : And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
YLT : And Jacob calleth the name of the place Peniel: for `I have seen God face unto face, and my life is delivered;`

KJV : And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.
YLT : and the sun riseth on him when he hath passed over Penuel, and he is halting on his thigh;
RV : And the sun rose upon him as he passed over Penuel, and he halted upon his thigh.
RSV : The sun rose upon him as he passed Penuel, limping because of his thigh.

KJV : Therefore the children of Israel eat not [of] the sinew which shrank, which [is] upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob’s thigh in the sinew that shrank.
YLT : therefore the sons of Israel do not eat the sinew which shrank, which [is] on the hollow of the thigh, unto this day, because He came against the hollow of Jacob`s thigh, against the sinew which shrank.
RV : Therefore the children of Israel eat not the sinew of the hip which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob-s thigh in the sinew of the hip.

ERVEN : So even today, the people of Israel don't eat the muscle that is on the hip joint, because this is the muscle where Jacob was hurt.
