BNV : অন্য দেশের বহু লোক যাঁরা ঐ অঞ্চলে বাস করতেন তাঁরা যিহূদা ও বিন্যামীনের লোকদের প্রতি বিরূপ মনোভাবাপন্ন ছিলেন| তাঁরা শুনতে পেলেন য়ে যারা বন্দীদশা থেকে ঐ অঞ্চলে ফিরে এসেছে তারা প্রভু ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বরের জন্য একটি মন্দির নির্মাণ করছে| তাই তাঁরা সরুব্বাবিল ও পিতৃকুলপতিদের কাছে এলেন এবং বললেন, “নির্মাণের কাজে আমাদের য়োগ দিতে দাও| আমরা তোমাদেরই মত| যখন থেকে অশূর রাজা এসর-হদ্দোন আমাদের এখানে নিয়ে এসেছেন তখন থেকে আমরা তোমাদের প্রভুকে হোমবলি উত্সর্গ করছি|”
KJV : Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto the LORD God of Israel;
YLT : And adversaries of Judah and Benjamin hear that the sons of the captivity are building a temple to Jehovah, God of Israel,
RV : Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded a temple unto the LORD, the God of Israel;

ERVEN : Many people living in the area were against the people of Judah and Benjamin. These enemies heard that the people who had come from captivity were building a temple for the Lord, the God of Israel. So they came to Zerubbabel and to the family leaders and said, "Let us help you build. We are the same as you, we ask your God for help. We have offered sacrifices to your God since the time King Esarhaddon of Assyria brought us here."

KJV : Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye [do;] and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esar- haddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.
YLT : and they draw nigh unto Zerubbabel, and unto heads of the fathers, and say to them, `Let us build with you; for, like you, we seek to your God, and we are not sacrificing since the days of Esar-Haddon king of Asshur, who brought us up hither.`
RV : then they drew near to Zerubbabel, and to the heads of fathers- {cf15i houses}, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assyria, which brought us up hither.

BNV : সরুব্বাবিল, য়েশূয় ও ইস্রায়েলের অন্যান্য পিতৃকুলপতিরা তাঁদের বললেন, “না, তোমরা আমাদের সঙ্গে মন্দির নির্মাণ করতে পার না| রাজা কোরসের আদেশ অনুযায়ীইস্রায়েলের প্রভুর মন্দির নির্মাণের কাজ একমাত্র আমরাই সম্পন্ন করতে পারি|”
KJV : But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.
YLT : And Zerubbabel saith to them, also Jeshua, and the rest of the heads of the fathers of Israel, `Not for you, and for us, to build a house to our God; but we ourselves together do build to Jehovah God of Israel, as the king Cyrus, king of Persia, commanded us.`

ERVEN : But Zerubbabel, Jeshua, and the other family leaders of Israel answered, "No, you people cannot help us build a temple for our God. Only we can build the Temple for the Lord. He is the God of Israel. This is what King Cyrus of Persia commanded us to do."

BNV : একথা শুনে এই সব ব্যক্তিরা রুদ্ধ হলেন| তাঁরা যিহূদার লোকদের নিরুত্সাহ করবার চেষ্টা করলেন এবং তাদের নির্মাণের কাজ বন্ধ করবার চেষ্টা করলেন|
KJV : Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,

BNV : ওইসব শএুরা মন্দির নির্মাণের কাজ বন্ধ করবার নিমিত্ত নানা রকম সমস্যা সৃষ্টির জন্য সরকারী কর্মচারীদেরও ভাড়া করে এনেছিলেন| পারস্য-রাজ কোরসের রাজত্বকাল থেকে শুরু করে পারস্য-রাজ দারিয়াবসের রাজত্ব প্রাপ্তি পর্য়ন্ত এই প্রতিকুল অবস্থা চলেছিল|
KJV : And hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.

ERVEN : These enemies hired government officials to work against the people of Judah. The officials constantly did things to stop the Jews' plans to build the Temple. This continued the whole time that Cyrus was the king until Darius became the king of Persia.

BNV : অর্তক্ষস্ত যখন পারস্যের রাজা হলেন, তখন এই সব ব্যক্তিরা ইহুদীদের বিরুদ্ধে নালিশ জানিয়ে তাঁকে আরেকটি চিঠি লিখেছিলেন| বিশ্ালম, মিত্রদাত্‌, টাবেল ও তাঁর অন্যান্য সঙ্গীরা অরামীয় ভাষায় এই চিঠি রচনা করেছিলেন|
KJV : And in the days of Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of their companions, unto Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter [was] written in the Syrian tongue, and interpreted in the Syrian tongue.

KJV : Be it known unto the king, that the Jews which came up from thee to us are come unto Jerusalem, building the rebellious and the bad city, and have set up the walls [thereof,] and joined the foundations.
YLT : Be it known to the king, that the Jews who have come up from thee unto us, have come in to Jerusalem, the rebellious and base city they are building, and the walls they have finished, and the foundations they join.
RV : Be it known unto the king, that the Jews which came up from thee are come to us unto Jerusalem; they are building the rebellious and the bad city, and have finished the walls, and repaired the foundations.

ERVEN : King Artaxerxes, we wish to inform you that the Jews you sent from there are now in Jerusalem. They are trying to rebuild that terrible city. The people there have always rebelled against other kings. Now they have almost finished repairing the foundations and building the walls.

BNV : হে মান্যবর, আপনার জ্ঞাতার্থে জানাই য়ে শহরের চারপাশে দেওয়াল বানানোর কাজ শেষ হলেই কিন্তু জেরুশালেমের বাসিন্দারা আপনাকে কর প্রদান করা বন্ধ করবে এবং এতে রাজকোষের আর্থিক ক্ষতি হবে|
KJV : Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls set up [again, then] will they not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and [so] thou shalt endamage the revenue of the kings.
YLT : `Now, be it known to the king, that if this city be builded, and the walls finished, toll, tribute, and custom they do not give; and at length [to] the kings it doth cause loss.
RV : Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls finished, they will not pay tribute, custom, or toll, and in the end it will endamage the kings.

ERVEN : Also, King Artaxerxes, you should know that if Jerusalem and its walls are rebuilt, the people of Jerusalem will stop paying their taxes. They will stop sending money to honor you. They also will stop paying customs fees, and the king will lose all that money.

BNV : আমরা রাজার প্রতি অনুগত থাকতে প্রতিজ্ঞাবদ্ধ এবং আমরা এরকম একটি ঘটনা ঘটতে দিতে চাই না এবং আমরা এও মনে করি য়ে এসব কথা আপনাকে জানানো আমাদের কর্ত্তব্য|
KJV : Now because we have maintenance from [the king’s] palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king’s dishonour, therefore have we sent and certified the king;

BNV : রাজা অর্তক্ষস্ত, আপনাকে আমরা আপনার পূর্বে য়ে সব রাজাগন রাজত্ব করেছেন তাঁদের নথিপত্র পড়ে দেখতে পরামর্শ দিচ্ছি| ঐ নথিপত্রে দেখবেন জেরুশালেম সব সময়ই বহু রাজার বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করেছে| জেরুশালেমের বাসিন্দারা রাজা ও শাসকদের বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করে বহু অসুবিধার সৃষ্টি করেছিল| ঐ সব কারণবশতঃই এই শহরটি ধ্বংস হয়|
KJV : That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city [is] a rebellious city, and hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time: for which cause was this city destroyed.
YLT : so that he doth seek in the book of the records of thy fathers, and thou dost find in the book of the records, and dost know, that this city [is] a rebellious city, and causing loss [to] kings and provinces, and makers of sedition [are] in its midst from the days of old, therefore hath this city been wasted.

ERVEN : King Artaxerxes, we suggest that you search the writings of the kings who ruled before you. You will see in the writings that Jerusalem always rebelled against other kings. It has caused much trouble for other kings and nations. Many rebellions have started in this city since ancient times. That is why Jerusalem was destroyed.

ERVEN : King Artaxerxes, we wish to inform you that if this city and its walls are rebuilt, you will lose control of the area west of the Euphrates River.

ERVEN : I gave an order for the writings of the kings before me to be searched. The writings were read, and we found out that Jerusalem has a long history of rebellion against kings. Jerusalem has been a place where rebellion and revolt has happened often.

BNV : সেই সব লেখা পড়া হয় ও জানা যায় য়ে দীর্ঘকাল থেকেই জেরুশালেম শহরের বাসিন্দারা শাসকদের বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করে এসেছে| বিদ্রোহ এবং বিরোধিতার সৃষ্টি করা এই শহরের নিত্য নৈমিত্তিক ঘটনা| জেরুশালেম ও ফরাত্‌ নদীর পশ্চিমাঞ্চলে বহু ক্ষমতাবান রাজগণ রাজত্ব করে এসেছেন, এবং তাঁরা এই সমুদয অঞ্চল থেকে করও পেয়েছেন|
