ರಾಹೇಲಳು ತಾನು ಯಾಕೋಬನಿಗೆ ಇನ್ನು ಹೆರುವದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದಾಗ ಆಕೆಯು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೊಟ್ಟೇಕಿಚ್ಚು ಪಟ್ಟು ಯಾಕೋಬನಿಗೆ--ನನಗೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡು, ಇಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೆ ನಾನು ಸಾಯುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂದಳು.

And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob, Give me children, or else I die.
